Background. In the context of the worldview transformations that our dynamic time is so rich in, questions of the value and sense preferences of a person become especially relevant. These issues are especially significant in the youthful period. The awareness of young people of their value and sense preferences allows them to build their own path of behavior. Aim: The article aims to study value and sense preferences in adolescence (for example, in university students). Materials and methods. The study involved first to five-year students of Chelyabinsk State University, South Ural State Medical University and South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University aged 17–22 (n = 100, 60 females and 40 males). The followingpsychodiagnostic methods were used: the test of meaning-life orientations (MLO) by D.A. Leontiev; the Value Orientations method by M. Rokich. To check the significance of differences, the Student t-test for independent samples, the Pearson Chi-square test and the r-Spearman correlation coefficient were calculated using the IBM SPSS STATISTICS v.23 statistical software package. Results. It was found that the indicators of MLO in first-year students are slightly higher than in fourth or fifth-year students, while the rates for females are higher than for males. The predominant interest is in the values of personal life and individualistic values, while abstract and conformist values are not particularly significant for males and females in these samples. Conclusion. The data obtained allow to judge about various value and sense preferences in the youthful period. Value and sense preferences are determined by honesty and courage in persisting in one’s opinion, determining the purpose of life, understanding personal responsibility for one’s life and its results.

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the self-efficacy of pre-primary teachers for musical aptitude, such as pitch and rhythm, and to examine whether there is a significant change in self-efficacy through individual practice and instruction of Chorubungen exercises for eight weeks. Another purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between the musical experience and musicality of pre-service teachers, and their musical experience and achievement. To this end, a survey was conducted at the end of the semester for first-year students (56 males, 84 females) of a University of Education after regular individual practice in and guidance for eight weeks in the second semester of 2020. According to the results of the analysis, the positive self-efficacy of the pre-service teachers for pitch and rhythm before class participation was about 22.1% and 34.3% of the respondents, respectively, but after participating in the class, self-efficacy increased to 82.1% for pitch and 72.9% for rhythm. In comparison with the lower five variables, namely whether they learned an instrument among musical experiences (t-test) and the degree of singing (F test), pitch sensitivity (t=2.41, p<.05), rhythm sensitivity (t =1.98, p<.05), tempo sensitivity (t=2.79, p<.01), major scale, and major harmony pattern sensitivity (t=2.67, p<.01), all showed significant differences. In comparison to the achievement groups (chi-square test), differences between the achievement groups were measured based on whether they previously had experienced musical instruments (χ2=10.11, p<.01) and whether they had been active in a club (χ2=8.70, p<.05).

The present study investigated the differences in attitudes and motivation between more effective and less effective learners studying at the first year of graduate university program. Based on this aim, first, the researcher developed the three-part 35-item attitude-motivation questionnaire of the present study based on the AMTB developed by Gardner (1985). Second, he selected 441 students (224 male & 217 female) studying at the first year of their graduate program at universities in East Azarbayjan province (Iran) as the participants of the study. Third, he administered the questionnaire of the study to the selected participants and asked them to complete it. Finally, he analyzed the data of the study in order to answer the mentioned research questions. The chi-square test was utilized to analyze the collected data of the study. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences between more effective and less effective learners’ attitudes and motivation. Based on the results of the study, it was argued that, the EFL syllabus designers and teachers should help the learners to become aware of their attitudes, and motivational orientations. Furthermore, they should make an effort to tailor classroom materials and classroom teaching to the EFL learners’ individual differences.
