Leadership and leadership styles are considered as decisive factors to the success and failure of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The objectives of the paper are to identify benefits and drawbacks of applying three major leadership styles, namely autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire styles of Vietnamese SMEs leaders, who are working in various business fields. The qualitative approach was used to explore the perceptions of 51 Vietnamese SME managers, and the N-vivo software was useful in data analysis. The theoretical contribution, therefore, can be seen by the in-depth investigating on the leadership styles from the multi-dimensional viewpoints of SMEs leaders in the culture context of one Asian emerging nation such as Vietnam. The paper is also expected to be useful for SME managers to better understanding leadership styles, in order to adjust and perfect their leadership behaviors for more effective managerial and organizational performance.

AbstractSasirangan Village is one of Small and Medium Enterprises that is formed by making use of sasirangan fabric that is as one of particular object as the industry product. The purpose of research is to describe the production and distribution activity that occur in the Sasirangan Village. and to describe the utilization of production and distribution activities in Sasirangan village as a learning resource. This research uses qualitative approach. Data collection is done by interview, documentation and observation. Data analysis technique is done by data reduction, presentation and conclusion. Data validity is the extending the duration of observation, increasing the persistence, member check and triangulation. Result of research shows that the production of sasirangan fabric is done by a few steps. In distributing, the subjects of industry enterprises do several techniques to attract buyers. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pengujian keabsahan data dilakukan dengan perpanjangan pengamatan, meningkatkan ketekunan, member check, dan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kegiatan produksi kain Sasirangan dilakukan berbagai tahapan. Pada kegiatan distribusi para pelaku usaha industri melakukan berbagai teknik untuk menarik minat pembeli. Pemanfaatan kegiatan produksi dan distribusi di Kampung Sasirangan relevan sebagai sumber pembelajaran IPS pada materi tentang kegiatan ekonomi.Kata Kunci: Sasirangan, sumber belajar, IPS

Digital marketing is one of marketing media taken as an opportunity to expand the marketing area with the help of digital technology for Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which have a limited average background in terms of capital. These issues encourage the researchers to conduct the study entitled the effect of digital marketing on organizational performance through intellectual capital and perceived quality in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in East Java. This is explanatory research that uses a survey method by distributing questionnaires through a quantitative approach and using PLS as data analysis. Findings. The results showed that there are weaknesses of MSMEs in Perceived Quality, so it is needed training especifically related to digital marketing which involves intellectual capital and perceived quality to improve organizational performance. MSME as one of the informal sectors that plays a role in supporting the community's economy in order to survive and develop.

This study attempts to narrow the gaps that exist in the literature about branding in the context of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The research method used is a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with Owners, Managing Directors, and Human Resource Managers in MSMEs. The results of this study indicate that the UMKM employer branding is still limited to intention. It can be seen from the absence of programs or activities that support employer branding programs that are felt directly by their employees. This is induced by the focus of MSME businessmen who are still on fundamental issues such as financial constraints and the absence of loyal consumers. The results of this study can be used by educators or stakeholders in Indonesian MSMEs as a reference for formulating employer branding approaches and strategies that are in line with the characteristics of MSMEs in Indonesia. Over the last twenty years the impact of language in international and multinational companies has attracted significant scholarly attention, which is reflected in the growing literature. However, and despite the fact that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) constitute the engine of numerous economies worldwide, the impact of foreign languages on SMEs’ performance remains understudied. This is especially intricate because, considering that SMEs often have fewer resources, the commitment of such resources to language acquisition and foreign language education can only be justified in the case of improved performance. To address this gap, the objective of our research aims to get insights whether and how the domain of a foreign language (mainly English) affects SMEs’ performance. For this purpose, we perform an exploratory empirical study based on data collected through a telephone questionnaire during the first semester of 2017. A group of private Spanish SMEs constitutes our sample. Our work presents the results of the statistical analysis of these primary data, and contributes to a more nuanced perspective on language utility for organizational performance.

Abstract Understanding the schemes of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) managerial capability is becoming important aspects today. Implementing proper strategies and internal policy may create a significant change in SME’s performance. Total Quality Management (TQM) has been being a one of specific measurement on organizational performance. This research was proposed to understand the factor that can affect the TQM’s performance in SME’s by identifying the two factors that can change it. Based on the recent studies, the developed model was employed PLSSEM to analyze the data by total respondent 95 respondent consist of owner and manager. The sample was taken in the area of Sasirangan SME’s in Banjarmasin, Kalimantan Selatan province, Indonesia. Sasirangan is a local fabric developed by its ancestor. The population of Sasirangan SME’s was huge in amount. The results of these studies indicate that both motivation and employee performance can increase the TQM in the SME’s which one of them has a more significant effect. The complete description of finding in this research will be discussed in this research.

Small and medium enterprises are paying the lion’s share in the innovation-based economy of today’s competitive business environment. To this effect, this study observed the effects of corporate entrepreneurship (CE) dimensions on the performance of SMEs in the town of Holeta, Ethiopia. We used both descriptive and survey research designs to meet the specified target of the study. The researchers employed both primary and secondary data sources; the former were collected from 173 participants using both primary and secondary data. The result of this study indicates that all of the explanatory variables used were statistically significant and had a positive relationship with the performance of SMEs. Thus, we recommend that owners of small and medium enterprises pay special attention to practicing CE to increase their business performance, sustainability, and competitiveness. Entrepreneurs should also come up with new and attractive product and service features to take high market shares. Furthermore, forecasting potential challenges for firms and devising possible ways of solving the situation in advance can safeguard businesses from failure.

Murabaha Financing have potentially lower risk than other financing product. It chosen by USP Kopontren XYZ to fulfill members financing demand both for business development and consumptive purposes. Termination of Employment Relationship, working cycle and Bad characters some members cause of the collectibility default in Murabaha Financing.This study using qualitative approach and case studies. The collection of primarydata through in-depth interview, while secondary data obtained from the AnnualMembers Meeting report Kopontren XYZ . Explanation building analysis techniques are use to explain the results of in-depth interviews in order to explain the handling of murabaha financing collectibility default.The results explained to handling collectability default adopt according to The Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 35.3 / Per / M.KUKM / X / 2007, executing from cash collateral, financial penalties for those who deliberately, and converts the contract.

Data analysis method used in research is path analysis. Simultaneously, the research results of MSME Development and Competitive Advantage have a positive and significant effect on creative economy. Partially, the Influence of MSME Development has positive and significant influence to creative economy. Partially Competitive advantage positively and significantly influences the creative economy. Earlier notions of leadership opined that leadership can be found in one's genes that determine how an individual behaves and reacts to his/her surrounding (Bass, 1985). That is, a leader can still be detected in a group of people although nobody may be appointed to lead at the outset. In the past, an individual became a leader through inheritance of a rank or the throne in a country or in an institution. However, the temperament or characteristic of an individual determine whether one can lead or not. A leader acts as a conflict contributor, a resolver or peacemaker, and a punisher (King et al., 2009). Besides being dominant over the rest of the group members, a leader needs to influence the followers too with his/her leadership style. The leadership style of a leader depends on the attitude of him/her to influencing followers in the organisation. The modern era indicates that an uncertainty or complex situations are not uncommon. In a context of a small and medium enterprises (SMEs), turbulences arising in an enterprise require an effective leader to sustain a strong sense of opportunity for all followers. Such participation allows followers to share opinions, make better decisions and control the resources. In fact, followers and the leader cannot be separated. Likewise, leadership runs in tandem with development. Development occurs as leadership pushes it (Banyai, 2009). Hence, without proper leadership to lead the followers, it would be rather difficult to reach the mutual goals of the enterprise (Poskas & Messer, 2015). Also, a good leadership through guidance and effective communication enables followers to improve themselves. Hence, to conduct a relevant systematic review, the current paper is guided by the following main research question: how are leadership styles practiced among leaders in the context of small and medium enterprises? The focus of this paper is on the leaders of small and medium enterprises where followers are working together towards achieving the mutual goals of the enterprise. Information communication technology (ICT), considered as one of the major impacts of organizational performance and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), plays a significant role in the Sri Lankan economy as a strategic partner. Thus, the article examines current levels of ICT usage and perceived barriers to ICT adoption in SMEs in Sri Lanka. The findings revealed that despite the majority of respondents using IT for essential functions, they lacked proper internal IT infrastructures, personal motivation, had internet connection issues, trust issues, and lack of knowledge. These factors were identified as the perceived barriers to ICT adoption in SMEs in Sri Lanka. Data was collected from 67 SME owners from Sri Lanka, except the North province, in November 2016. The findings offer valuable insights to policy makers in general and to the SME owners. The methodology, implications, and suggestions are also discussed.
