<span>The gender digital divide has been widely discussed and researched over the years. Previous studies have focused on a number of factors such as computer attitude, computer anxiety, computer self-efficacy, and computer experience. This study empirically tested the sensitivity of a learning style instrument, the </span><em>Gregorc Style Delineator</em><span> (GSD), to gender in a sample of students who studied computer programming in Hong Kong secondary schools. Results indicated that females had higher preference for concrete sequential (CS) and abstract random (AR) compared with males. Males had higher preference for concrete random (CR) than females. From these results, we proposed learning style-based pedagogical practices to teach computer programming. In order to address the needs of female students, we further proposed that learning style-based pedagogical practices need to move from a gender neutral to gender sensitive approach. This proposal helps to improve student learning through individualisation in pedagogy in terms of gender and learning styles and contributes to a gender and style sensitive computer science classroom. Eventually, through various remedial interventions, we anticipate more female participation in computer science field and hence the gender issue is addressed.</span>

This study was conducted in central Iran among all first-year university students studying engineering courses at Arak University of Technology. All students (No = 310) were included in this study. Instruments used mostly consisted of a computer anxiety questionnaire plus a learning style questionnaire. The data was analyzed by both descriptive and inferential statistics (Mean, Frequency, Standard Deviations, Independent T-test as well as Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient). The results indicated that there was a statistically significant relationship between computer anxiety and sensory-intuitive learning styles, in that the students having sensory learning style suffered from computer anxiety more frequently than the student having intuitive learning styles. In addition, there was a statistically significant relationship between computer anxiety and verbal-visual learning style, given that the students having visual learning style suffered from computer anxiety more than the students having verbal learning style. No statistically significant relationship, however, was found between computer anxiety and gender.

In this article a first approach was made about the tracking of a student’s learning styles preferences along their higher education. The investigation was applied to students of the Computer Science area, through a comparative evaluation of the Honey-Alonso Learning Styles Questionnaire to selected students, in three moments of their career path. In a first instance, the results show a change in the learning style of the students, later an analysis provides the nature of that change. The study presents the sample size as a limitation, because the tests had to be applied to the selected students and at different times of their professional studies. The interest for get knowledge about learning styles, aims to increasing the comprehension about how the students learn, and in the possibility of developing tools that allow, as far as possible, increasing the learning motivation and personalization.

There are a number of factors influenced the student’s learning achievement. Two of them are learning style and learning motivation. This article describes how the two factors affect the learning achievement and how the teacher should consider each of them in instructional process. Acknowledging the different learning styles and motivations of the students, the teachers are expected to use variety of instructional methods and media that will meet the students’ characteristics. To do this, this article presents a list if suggestions.

The aim of our research is to automatically deduce the learning style from the analysis of browsing behaviour. To find how to deduce the learning style, we are investigating, in this paper, the relationships between the learner’s navigation behaviour and his/her learning style in web-based learning. To explore this relation, we carried out an experiment with 27 students of computer science at the engineering school (ESI-Algeria). The students used a hypermedia course on an e-learning platform. The learners’ navigation behaviour is evaluated using a navigation type indicator that we propose and calculate based on trace analysis. The findings are presented with regard to the learning styles measured using the Index of Learning Styles by (Felder and Solomon 1996). We conclude with a discussion of these results.

Kata Kunci : Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan, Tipe Kepribadian, Perceptron   Abstract             Every person who has a personality following the surrounding environment to establish a good relationship. In the environment of the Faculty of Computer Science,Universitas Lancang Kuning, researchers conduct academic evaluations when conducting teaching there are several groups of students with different learning styles, some students find it difficult to be active in class, about this learning style we have already done the research, it turns out learning styles have a correlation with personality students where the creation of a good relationship between lecturers and students will have a positive impact because students will no longer be lazy to follow the material taken by the student and the lecturer can also determine the right way of teaching based on the student's personality. The 4 personality types of students are guardian, artisan, idealist and rational. In this study, 30 respondents had to fill out a questionnaire. Then computerized based on the ANN algorithm Perceptron. The results of the study were 5 students with Guardian personalities, 11 Artisan, 11 Idealist and 3 Rational Students   Keywords : Artificial Neural Networks, Personality Types , Perceptron

To investigate the relations between the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Gregorc Style Delineator and to examine the construct validity of the Style Delineator, 41 undergraduate students preparing to be teachers were given both tests. Observed differences in learning styles by personality type partially support the construct validity of the Style Delineator. Judging individuals ( n = 25) tended to perceive themselves as concrete sequential thinkers as opposed to perceptive individuals ( n = 16) who thought of themselves as concrete random thinkers. Feeling types ( n = 29) tended to prefer random modes of thinking.

Studying computer programming requires not only an understanding of theories and concepts but also coding adeptness. Success in studying or conducting such a course is definitely a challenge. This paper proposes a systematic learning style recommendation. The model is designed to evaluate students’ attributes and ongoing or formative learning outcomes for suggesting the effective style-fit strategy that facilitates learners to enhance their learning performances in terms of knowledge and skill. A two-stage association analysis was designed and conducted on a dataset collected from IT major students who enrolled in the Introduction to Computer Programming course. The first stage of association rules is to analyze and discover important relationships amongst learning styles, students’ attribute, and learning performance. The second stage of moderation analysis is then applied to probe the moderation effect of the different learning preferences on the relationship between student attributes and learning achievement. Experiments expose many insights, for example, mathematics and logical thinking are powerful assets of success in computer programming study. Association rules can effectively identify associations of learning styles and the learning performance in terms of knowledge or skills. By moderation analysis, students in the “Excellent” cluster have a broad learning style than other students. Two types of significant moderators, the universal and specific, exemplify how lecturers can flexibly post style-fit teaching strategies for a class-wide and specific group, respectively.
