The skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) is commonly found in the tropical waters of the oceans. It is a fishing resource of high economic value and available for national and international markets. Therefore, it is important to know the fish parasites for a correct sanitary inspection, as the pathogenesis in humans can occur through spoliative, toxic or mechanical action. This study aimed to identify the zoonotic parasitic fauna that infects the beautiful-striped using morphological methods. A total of 06 samples were analyzed. The fish were necropsied for parasitological evaluation of the musculature and internal organs. The samples were visually inspected and the structures with morphology combining with parasitic shapes were analyzed both in stereoscopic and microscope. The parasites found were fixed in 70% alcohol for later identification. All samples showed the presence of zoonotic parasites for humans. Two genera of zoonotic parasites have been found for humans that have beautiful tuna as their hosts, namely Anisakis sp. (Nematoda) and Trypanorhyncha (Eucestoda). A 100% of the infections occurred in the muscles and 66.6% in the liver. The results reinforced the importance of inspection by responsible organisms on the importance of evisceration as quickly as possible to avoid migration of larvae to the muscle.

Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus Pelamis) is one of the big pelagic fish in fishery resources that has high economic value and plays an important role in export activity in Indonesia. Catch activities for consumption needs for people could threatened of Skipjack Tuna availability. The growth pattern of Skipjack Tuna is needed to used as references for the appropriate management plan to protect Skipjack Tuna. The research was conducted from February to April 2017 at PPI Kedonganan, Kuta District, Badung, Bali. The fish were collected by simple random sampling method. This study showed that gillnet and handline were used as fishing gears. The length frequency distributions were in the long-range of 315-337 mm means the catch fish is still young. The growth pattern of Skipjack Tuna was negative allometric means length growth was faster than weight growth. The growth parameters of Skipjack Tuna were obtained by the asymptotic length (Linf) of 875.2 mm, growth coefficient (K) of 0.09, and theoretical age (t0) of -0.78. Skipjack Tuna have small body size with condition factors were ranged from 0.8783-1.7269. It can be concluded that these methods can be used to determine the appropriate management efforts.

ABSTRACTTernate Island lies in a strategic location as it is situated in the middle of  the main fishing ground for skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) fishing using pole and line (huhate) and fish aggregating devices (FADs). As typical pelagic fish, skipjack that is gathered near the water surface is the younger fish, likewise the ones which are caught around FADs. Therefore, this fishing method has caused serious problem due to the domination of young fish and increasing bycatch and discard. The objective of this research is to analyze the size structure of the fork length, appropriate size for catching, catch composition, bycatch and discard level. Pole and line catch samples were collected in 3 months fromMay to July 2018. The results show that in average, skipjack tuna caught in the study location was undersize. The total catch is predominantly targeted fish which has a higher economic value compared to bycatch and discarded fish. Even though bycatch in the pole and line fisheries are low, reduction efforts are still required. which can be done by sorting bycatch and unwanted fish then discard it into the sea when the fish is still alive. Keywords: biology, pole and line, sustainability status, Ternate City ABSTRAKPosisi Pulau Ternate sangat strategis karena berada di tengah perairan yang menjadi daerah operasi penangkapan cakalang (Katsuwonus pelamis) dengan alat tangkap huhate (pole and line) yang dibantu dengan penggunaan rumpon. Kata Kunci: Biologi, huhate (pole and line), status keberlanjutan, Kota Ternate

The skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis-L) or the locally known as Cakalang and the mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) or tongkol as it known locally are the types of fishes that have high economic value. The aim of this research is to observe the decrease in freshness quality of the skipjack tuna and the mackerel tuna that have been stored for 14 days in a cool box with the temperature of 0–5ºC, with the supporting data based on The TVB-N analysis, organoleptic analysis and Miogobin value analysis. The results using the three testing procedures which are consists of TVB-N value, organoleptic value and Mioglobin value, indicated that the meat of the mackarel tuna have more faster rate of degradation than the skipjack tuna. Data from the result of TVB-N anova calculation proved that the type of fish have no influence on the TVB-N value, while the storage duration are very influential the TVB-N value. In data of organoleptic value the general impression of skipjack tuna and the mackerel tuna obtained from the anova calculated imply that the type of fish influence the appearance and texture but not with the eyes gills and odour . While the treatment of storage time are impacted greatly on the appearance, texture as well as gills and odour. Keyword: TVB-N, Organoleptic, Mioglobin. Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis L.) has a high economic value, both as an export commodity and for local consumption. In Indonesia, especially in North Sulawesi the total catch of skipjack tuna is high. The purpose of this research was to determine the quality of the skipjack tuna sold in two traditional markets, namely (A) Pasar Pinasungkulan Karombasan and (B) Pasar Bersehati, Manado. The moisture content of skipjack tuna sold in the market (B) does not meet the SNI quality requirement (max 60% moisture content of smoked fish). The pH value of the skipjack tuna  in market A and B still meets the quality requirements during storage in room temperature. Based on the results of moisture content and pH value, it can be concluded that the skipjack tuna purchased from Market A was still good for consumption up to 2 days storage in room temperature whereas fish from market B was not safe for consumption.

Background The increasing demand for raw or undercooked fish products, supplied by both aquaculture and fisheries, raises concerns about the transmission risk to humans of zoonotic fish parasites. This has led to the current European Union (EU) Regulation No 1276/2011 amending Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 and mandating a freezing treatment of such products. Zoonotic parasites, particularly anisakid larvae, have been well documented in wild fish. Data on their presence in European aquaculture products, however, are still scarce, except for Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), where the zoonotic risk was assessed as negligible, exempting it from freezing treatment. Aim To evaluate the zoonotic Anisakidae parasite risk in European farmed marine fish other than Atlantic salmon. Methods From 2016 to 2018 an observational parasitological survey was undertaken on 6,549 farmed fish including 2,753 gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata), 2,761 European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and 1,035 turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) from 14 farms in Italy, Spain and Greece. Furthermore, 200 rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) sea-caged in Denmark, as well as 352 seabream and 290 seabass imported in Italy and Spain from other countries were examined. Fish were subjected to visual inspection and candling. Fresh visceral organs/fillet samples were artificially digested or UV pressed and visually examined for zoonotic anisakid larvae. Results No zoonotic parasites were found in any of the fish investigated. Conclusions The risk linked to zoonotic Anisakidae in the examined fish species from European mariculture appears negligible. This study laid the groundwork for considerations to amend the current EU regulation.

Stomach content analysis of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) which was caught by pole and line and yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares) caught by hand line, landed in Bitung, North Sulawesi i May, July, and September 2005 were conducted. The objective of the experiment is to know dietary composition of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares). The number of specimen observed 69 of skipjack tunas (Katsuwonus pelamis) and 63 of yellow fin tunas (Thunnus albacares). Sampling site were located in fishery company and at a small scale fish smoked industry. Stomach content analysis of the two fishes were observed visually measured and gravimetrically. The stomach content analysis was analysed based on indeks of preponderance) method. Result shows, the stomach content of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares) related changes and similar among one species are scad mackerel fishes (Decapterus macarellus). Therefore, scad mackerel fishes (Decapterus macarellus) is the dominant food for both skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares).
