The authors examine the role of the Internet in marketing in the context of business models that are economically viable. This examination raises questions regarding the degree to which the Internet is genuinely different and whether it will be a boon to consumers and investors. Economic necessity associated with the need to obtain and maintain profit streams suggests that Internet markets will likely be more similar to than different from traditional markets. The authors challenge assumptions regarding the role of the Internet in creating frictionless markets that benefit consumers and the role of personal information and privacy on the Internet that are necessary conditions for potentially profitable business models. The authors also discuss subsidization of Internet businesses in the context of public policy and examine other issues related to the relationship of current models of Internet business to public policy and consumer welfare.

We investigate the relationship of corporate social responsibility (CSR) (often assumed to reflect corporate voluntarism) and government (often assumed to reflect coercion). We distinguish two broad perspectives on the CSR and government relationship: the dichotomous (i.e., government and CSR are / should be independent of one another) and the related (i.e., government and CSR are / should be interconnected). Using typologies of CSR public policy and of CSR and the law, we present an integrated framework for corporate discretion for engagement with public policy for CSR. We make four related contributions. First, we explain the dichotomous and the related perspectives with reference to their various assumptions and analyses. Second, we demonstrate that public policy for CSR and corporate discretion coexist and interact. Specifically, we show, third, that public policy for CSR can inform and stimulate corporate discretion and, fourth, that corporations have discretion for CSR, particularly as to how corporations engage with such policy.

By exploring the changes among online elites who have constructed the Internet, this article traces the unique history of the Russian Internet (RuNet). Illustrating how changes in online elites can be associated with changes in the socio-political role of the online space in general, it concludes that, although the Internet is of global nature, its space is constructed on the level of nation, culture and language. To show this, the article presents five stages in the development of RuNet, suggesting that the change in the stages is associated with the relationship of power between, first, actors (users, developers, the government, etc.) that construct Internet space and, second, alternative elites that emerge online and the traditional elites that seek to take the online space under their control by making their imaginary dominate.

Introduction: Generation Z (Gen Z) refers to the most application-friendly and website-savvy generation engaging with the Internet for most of its daily activities. The number of Gen Z members has been growing and is projected to become the largest market segment by 2020. In the future, Gen Z will affect business strategies; compounded by the presence of a fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), which will encourage companies to change their business models. One of the changes is a new paradigm shift by companies from the traditional business model to an internet-based business model (e-business model/e-commerce), such as online shops. Online shops have escalated at a rapid pace and have changed people’s buying habits, especially for Gen Z. Gen Z seems to be shopping online more than ever. Targeting them is the best strategy to enhance their lifetime loyalty. Background Problem: This study aims to examine the relationship of e-service quality, online customer value, e-satisfaction and e-loyalty. Research Method: Two hundred and forty-one Gen Z respondents were involved in this study. PLS 3, Sobel and SPSS 23 were employed to analyze the data. Five hypotheses were proposed. Findings: The findings indicated that e-service quality became the expected predictor of online customer value and satisfaction. In addition, the results confirm the mediating role of online customer value between e-service quality and e-satisfaction, as well as clarifying the relationship of online customer value and e-satisfaction. Finally, the effect of e-satisfaction on e-loyalty has been proven in this study. Conclusion: Upon figuring out the relevant issue, online shops are able to re-consider their business models to adopt the Industry 4.0 revolution, to strengthen their capacity in tight competition. In order to target Gen Z, who mostly do their purchasing via the Internet, online shops must provide high quality websites and create values which convey economic, social and functional values. These two key factors play significant roles in attaining Gen Z’s e-satisfaction, thus securing Gen Z’s e-loyalty.

A great deal of research has been dedicated to understanding the relationship of public preferences to public policy. Much of this literature, though, does not account for risk perception, an important characteristic that affects individuals’ preferences. In terms of policy, those who perceive high risk in association with a particular issue should be more likely to oppose policies that would increase that risk, and, conversely, support policies that would decrease this risk. In this article, we examine the role of specific risk perceptions related to nuclear, coal, and renewable sources of energy on related policy preferences. Controlling for the influence of knowledge and several specific attitudinal indicators, we find that risk perceptions are strong predictors of energy policy preferences.

“Web 2.0” platforms such as YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter that focus on data sharing, communication, community, and co-production have become very popular. It is therefore important to understand the economic organization of these platforms. The discussion of surveillance in web 2.0 is important because such platforms collect huge amounts of personal data in order to work. In this paper, first the example of Google Buzz is discussed. Then, a model that conceptualizes the cycle of capital accumulation and distinguishes between production and circulation of capital is introduced. The role of surveillance in web 2.0 is outlined based on the cycle of capital accumulation. The notions of the Internet prosumer commodity and web 2.0 surveillance are introduced in order to characterize the relationship of production, consumption, and surveillance on web 2.0.

The republic of Indonesia as a unitary state embraces the principle of decentralization in the administration of goverment, by providing opportunies and freedom to the region to organize regional autonomy. Thus, regional autonomy is a policy that is in accordance with the principle of decentralization within the framework of the unitary state of the Indonesian republic. The real autonomy is the flexibility of the region to exercise the authority of the goverment in certain areas that are real and necessary and growing, living and developing in the regions. Of course this is to realize independence, autonomy is closely related to the pattern of relation between the central and regional which includes various aspects of the relationship of authority, supervisory relations, financial relations, and so forth traditional. Soewargono and Djohan stated that one of the main functions of goverment is to make public policy. The role of goverment is more as a servant of society that does not aim to gain profit rather than fulfill what the bureaucracy’s own will. The purpose of this paper to know the role of local goverment in the current era of reformasi. The type of research used is normative juridical research, using conceptual approach, legislation approach, and historical approach.

The scientific problem of economics “Managing the quality of human life” is formulated on the basis of artificial intelligence, algebra of logic and logical-probabilistic calculus. Managing the quality of human life is represented by managing the processes of his treatment, training and decision making. Events in these processes and the corresponding logical variables relate to the behavior of a person, other persons and infrastructure. The processes of the quality of human life are modeled, analyzed and managed with the participation of the person himself. Scenarios and structural, logical and probabilistic models of managing the quality of human life are given. Special software for quality management is described. The relationship of human quality of life and the digital economy is examined. We consider the role of public opinion in the management of the “bottom” based on the synthesis of many studies on the management of the economics and the state. The bottom management is also feedback from the top management.

This essay examines a polemic between two Baudelaire critics of the 1930s, Jean Cassou and Benjamin Fondane, which centered on the relationship of poetry to progressive politics and metaphysics. I argue that a return to Baudelaire's poetry can yield insight into what seems like an impasse in Cassou and Fondane. Baudelaire provides the possibility of realigning metaphysics and politics so that poetry has the potential to become the space in which we can begin to think the two of them together, as opposed to seeing them in unresolvable tension. Or rather, the tension that Baudelaire animates between the two allows us a new way of thinking about the role of esthetics in moments of political crisis. We can in some ways see Baudelaire as responding, avant la lettre, to two of his early twentieth-century readers who correctly perceived his work as the space that breathes a new urgency into the questions of how modern poetry relates to the world from which it springs and in which it intervenes.
