The study aims to reveal the problems encountered in the context of organizational communication by global workers in international companies. It is planned to use the qualitative research method in order to examine in depth the thoughts, experiences and suggestions of organizational communication problems of global workers in the research. “Case study” pattern as a qualitative research pattern, will be benefited. The research will be conducted on an international enterprise in İzmir that carry on a business in automotive sector, an interview in depth will be personally applied to eight employees who work in global position. The collected data will be analyzed by content analysis method. It has been found that communication becomes more important on the base of being able to understand other side orrectly and express itself clearly in global teams where face to face communication is limited then local teams.

The purpose of this study is to examine the graphic design concept perceptions of university students who take graphic design education by using metaphors. The research was carried out with 160 students from the Department of Graphic Design at Inonu University, Hacı Bayram Veli University and Necmettin Erbakan University. A total of 142 students (87 female and 55 male) were considered to be surveyed. The students were asked a personal information form and an open-ended question via a questionnaire prepared by qualitative research method. The analysis of the survey data was evaluated by the content analysis method from qualitative research techniques. According to the analysis, the participants created 96 metaphors. The most repeated metaphors for graphic design are; Dreaming (7), Universe (6) and Freedom (6).The common characteristics of these metaphors produced by the participants were collected in eight sub-categories which are Effort /Labor dependent structure, Unlimited structure, Useful structure that facilitates, Multi-dimensional structure, Target-oriented structure, Changeable structure, Holistic structure, Uniform structure.According to the result obtained in the study, there are different perceptions of the graphic design based on gender and grades.

Aim: The aim of this research is to determine the ways of communication between nurses and patients, the relevant problems, and expectations. Method: The research was carried out within the scope of qualitative research model and using the case study design. Observation and semi-structured interview methods were used in the study. In this context, interviews and observations were made with five nurses working in a university hospital clinic and five inpatients in December 2019. In the analysis of qualitative data obtained from observations and interviews, themes were created using the content analysis method. Results: The research was presented as findings on semi-structured interviews and observations together with introductory features. Findings obtained as a result of the interviews were analyzed as two main themes, three subthemes and codes under each subtheme. Conclusion: To establish a better communication as a result of the research; significant findings were obtained related to the issues of establishing mutual empathy, increasing the level of education, taking patient complaints seriously, increasing the number of employees by improving the technological equipment of institutions, ensuring coordination by creating an atmosphere of trust, nurses’ doing their job lovingly, gaining therapeutic communication skills, and especially explaining medical terms in a comprehensible manner.

The objective of the present study is to determine the teacher views on in-service training regarding its contribution to the vocational development of teachers. The sample of the study, which was designed as a case study from qualitative research methods, consisted of 35 field teachers from 7 middle schools in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province in Turkey. The data were collected by the researcher through a semi-structured interview form presented to the teachers. The data obtained in the present study were analyzed by content analysis method. In the present study, the contribution of in-service training on the vocational development of teachers, subjects that required training, and the individuals who were required to provide training, were determined as the three main themes.It was identified that in-service training did not contribute to the vocational development of teachers due to the theoretical nature, superficial expression, lack of solutions, and exclusion of teachers as participants. According to these findings, it is possible to organize trainings that focus on solutions, different methods and techniques, focus, that are solution oriented and involve participants more. In addition, it was revealed that in-service training did not contribute to the vocational development of teachers since it was considered as a formality and is compulsory through signing participation documents. In this respect, it was determined that the proposals, which are frequently mentioned in scientific research, regarding the provision of in-service training to teachers appear to be invalid and fall short in terms of its goals. With respect to the finding that including the specialists, ministry experts, academicians, volunteers, experienced teachers and supervisors, who provide instruction in in-service training, within the process would be more efficient, thus a more active role could be assigned to these individuals.

The aim of this study is to investigate the problems encountered during education by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature students who receive pedagogical formation training. The case study was used as a qualitative research design, in which students’ opinions were obtained by using a semi-structured interview form. 36 students voluntarily participated in the study, in which the convenience sampling method was used. The collected data were evaluated by using the content analysis method. The findings of the study show that the students consider the formation training necessary; that some of the lecturers did not fully teach the curriculum; they had problems with lighting and heating in the classroom; and they could not focus on the departmental courses due to the addition of the formation courses. In addition, students believe that pedagogical formation training should not be used for commercial purposes.

Gendered nature of sports excludes women and also men in some sports. The patriarchal culture’s way of coding dance as a feminine act is creating some restrictions for men. The aim of this study is to examine the meaning and limits of being a male dancer in Adana. Datas were collected by semi-structured interviews using phemonologhy which is one of  research methods of qualitative research method. The participants was constituted by 5 male dancer (salsa). Data were analyzed by the content analysis method. The findings of the data obtained from the analysis collected under three themes: 1 Masculine Norms: Does a man dance? 2 Humiliated femininity: Do not wiggle like a girl, 3 Homophobia: You look like a gay son, you have to wear this? As a result, a significant domination generated by the dominance over the body acts set by gender differences over male dancers was observed. The strategy to get rid of prejudice and oppression is to insist, to prove that they are successful and not to wear tights.Extended English abstract is in the end of PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetSpor dallarının toplumsal cinsiyetlendirilmiş yapısı bazı sporlarda kadınları bazılarında ise erkekleri dışlamaktadır. Ataerkil kültürün dansı dişil bir edim olarak kodlaması, erkekler için bir takım kısıtlamalar yaratmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Adana’da erkek dansçı olmanın anlam ve sınırlarını incelemektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenemonoloji yönteminin kullanıldığı araştırmanın verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır.  Araştırmanın katılımcılarını 5 erkek dansçı (salsa) oluşturmuştur. Veriler içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Veri analizi sonucunda elde edilen bulgular 3 tema altında toplanmıştır: 1 Eril Normlar: Erkek adam dans eder mi? 2 Aşağılanan Kadınlık: Karı gibi kıvırtma, 3 Homofobi: Oğlum gey gibi olmuşsun bunu giymek zorunda mısın? Sonuç olarak, cinsiyet farklılıklarının bedenin edimleri üzerinde kurduğu hakimiyetin, erkek dansçılar üzerinde önemli bir tahakküm oluşturduğu görülmüştür. Dansçılar için önyargı ve baskıdan kurtulma stratejisi ise ısrarcı olmak, başarılı olduklarını ispat etmek ve tayt giymemektir.

<p>This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of dream and doodle books in developing children's creative thinking skills. In the study, the case study, which is a qualitative research method, was used. A total of 13 children, 6 girls and 7 boys aged 6-9, were selected through purposive sampling. For three months, a total of thirty-two pages of painting completion activities were held with each child by using dream and doodle books three times a day each week. "The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking" is used as a data collection tool to evaluate the creative thinking skills of children. Content analysis was used as the analysis method. The rate of seeing the Creative Strengths in the posttest (Torrance Test of Creative Thinking Form B) drawings of the children was higher than the pre-test (Torrance Test of Creative Thinking Form A) drawings. When the pre-test and post-test results of Creative Strengths are examined, it is seen that there is the most difference in favor of the post-test in the "Movement and Action and Storytelling Articulateness" aspects. The aspect with the least difference is "Synthesis of Lines and Circles". The dimension that has never been seen in children's drawings has been "Synthesis of Incomplete Figures". It was concluded that Dream and Doodle Books improve children's creative thinking skills. Dream and Doodle books are artistic studies that allow children to express themselves in different ways. This research aims to determine the use of humor in Turkish classes in secondary schools. To this end, firstly, the humorous elements in the Turkish textbooks were examined, and then Turkish teachers’ views on these elements and their views and classroom practices regarding the use of humor in their classes were determined. The study was designed according to the case study method, one of the qualitative research methods. The humorous elements in the Turkish textbooks were collected through the document review method, and the views and classroom practices of the Turkish teachers regarding the use of humor were collected through a semi-structured interview form. In this context, interviews were made with 15 Turkish teachers working in public schools. The content analysis method was used to analyze the obtained data. According to the findings, most of the interviewed teachers included humorous elements in their classes through various classroom practices. In addition, it was determined that teachers consider humorous elements important because such elements increase students’ motivation and make classes more interesting. Finally, it was concluded that Turkish textbooks do not contain enough humorous elements.

Kepulauan Riau merupakan provinsi yang terdiri dari beberapa pulau diantaranya Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Modal sosial merupakan serangkaian nilai dan norma informal yang dimiliki oleh kelompok masyarat dalam membagun kerjasamanya. Lingkup penelitian pada pembahasan ini adalah terfokus pada pengaruh modal sosial terhadap perkembangan pariwisata di Kepulauan Riau dalam hal ini Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dikondisikan sebagai penelitian kualitatif melalui strategi studi kasus. Sistem pendekatan yang digunakan juga merupakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik. Melakukan pengamatan langsung, mengumpulkan data-data kemudian menghubungkannya dengan kajian teori yang digunakan. Lokus penelitian ini terdapat di Kepulauan Riau dengan melihat pengaruh modal sosial pada perkembangan pariwisata di ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang saya lakukan di Kepulauan Riau, terutama pada ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun, dari ketiga pulau tersebut ternyata pada Pulau Karimun perkembangan pariwisatanya tidak terlalu berkembang karena masyarakat yang tidak menerima adanya wisatawan terutama wisatawan mancanegara. Riau Islands is a province consisting of several islands including Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Social capital is a set of informal values ​​and norms that are owned by community groups in building cooperation. The scope of research in this discussion is focused on the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the Riau Islands, in this case Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is conditioned as qualitative research through a case study strategy. The system approach used is also a descriptive analytic approach. Make direct observations, collect data and then relate it to the study of the theories used. The locus of this research is in the Riau Islands by looking at the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Based on the results of a survey I conducted in the Riau Islands, especially on the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island, of the three islands, it turns out that on Karimun Island the development of tourism is not very developed because people do not accept tourists, especially foreign tourists.

Bu araştırmada sığınmacılara yönelik paylaşımların yapıldığı sosyal medyada yer alan sözlüklerden birinde sığınmacılara yönelik algıya bakılmıştır. Yöntem olarak nitel desende olan bu çalışmada, bir sosyal medya sitesinde yer alan paylaşımlar içerik analizi yoluyla derinlemesine incelenip yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda sosyal medya kullanıcılarının sığınmacıları büyük bir güvensizlik ortamı ve huzursuzluk yaratan bireyler olarak gördükleri saptanmış, sığınmacılarla yaşanan deneyimlerin ve medyadaki haberlerin bu düşüncelerin oluşmasında etkisinin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanında sosyal medya kullanıcılarının devletin sığınmacılar konusunda yanlış politika izlediğini düşündükleri ve sığınmacılar için etkili bir planlama yapılmadığını ifade ettikleri görülmüştür. Çalışmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda medyada sığınmacılar hakkında çıkan haberlerde olumsuz ve şiddet temalı haberlerin azaltılması, Suriyeli sığınmacıların durumu, sahip oldukları haklar ve topluma yansımaları hakkında doğru ve bilgilendirici kamu spotları hazırlanması ayrıca sığınmacıların topluma entegre olma sürecinin her basamağında daha planlı ve etkili bir yol izlenmesi önerilebilir.ABSTRACT IN ENGLISHPerceptions about Syrian refugees on social media: an evaluation of a social media platformIn this research, posts which are about Syrian refugees were published in a social media platform, called as “sözlük” were investigated. The research is a qualitative research. The posts in this platform are analyzed with content analysis method. According to results of analyses, social media users see Syrian refugees as people who create an insecure and a restless environment. The experiences people had with them and news have an effect on this view. In addition, social media users think that government made inappropriate policies and ineffective plans about Syrian refugees. It is suggested negative news about Syrian refugees should be decreased and government should make safer policies. In addition, adaptation of refugees to society should be made in more planned and effective way.

Background. In this research, we aimed to investigate the effects of outdoor camps on orienteering athletes. Methods. The study group consisted of 74 athletes (44 males and 30 females, aged 11.94 ± 1.32 years) who participated in Bolu outdoor camp on the 3 rd –13 th of August, 2015. Interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used as data collection tool and content analysis method was used for data analysis. Results. Demographic factors were interpreted after the analysis of the obtained data and three main research questions were discussed under the topics of the views of athletes about the concept of Orienteering which is an outdoor sport, themes and codes regarding the purpose of Orienteering by the students who participated in the outdoor camp, and themes and codes about the outcomes of Orienteering for the students who participated in outdoor camps. Conclusion. It is suggested that a policy must be developed within the Ministry of Youth and Sport and Sport Federations in order to disseminate more deliberate and more comprehensive outdoor education among young people and measures should be taken to provide extensive participation.
