About 100 years have passed since the first classes of percussion instruments appeared. In the early days, when professional training intended for percussion performers dated to, teachers faced a large number of problems, in particular, lack of a full set of percussion instruments in the classroom, the availability of instructive, educational, pedagogical and concert repertoire alongside scientific and methodological literature. As a result, the work of the first educators was based, first of all, on their personal pedagogical experience and many years of performing practice. In this regard, the appearance of the first teaching aids was a milestone in the development of professional training in playing percussion instruments. For a century-long period, not so much educational and methodological literature has appeared, which was conditioned by a number of objective and subjective factors. At the same time, each methodological manual has taken its rightful place in the development of teaching methods for playing the percussion instruments. However, time is relentlessly moving forward and, unfortunately, today, they have become less in demand, as they do not always meet the modern requirements and approaches to teaching how to play the percussion instruments. Today, Ukrainian scientists and teachers have free access to a large amount of information. Therefore, they have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with interesting developments of our foreign colleagues. However, in most cases, they cannot be used in domestic pedagogical practice, as they are not adapted to the current realities of the educational system of Ukraine due to various socio-economic and cultural factors. Thus, the issues related to the need to search for the most effective forms, methods, and approaches to teaching how to play the percussion instruments is of particular importance and relevance. The article is devoted to the methods based on the playing form of instructions which are used in schools of aesthetic education and, in particular, at the classes of percussion instruments. The purpose of the work is to present new promising areas in teaching percussion playing, based on the author’s pedagogical practice. These methods were used in the study: analysis, observation, deduction and induction. The following issues are considered in the article: the influence of learners’ age characteristics on the choice of teaching methods, the essence of the group form of training and its importance for activating the pedagogical process, traditional and non-traditional approaches to teaching / learning, as well as the analysis of the methods that are widely used in the author’s teaching practice at the classes of the percussion instruments playing. As a result of the study, some new ideas were proposed related to the training at the initial stage and the ways of their implementation by introducing the methods of collective listening, imitation, “playing with the ball”, “sweet tooth”, etc. into the pedagogical practice.

This paper deals with the problem of theoretical justification and development of scientific and methodological support for using the cloud service CoCalc as a tool for the formation of mathematics teachers’ professional competencies. The following contradictions exist concerning the processes of forming these competencies: between the level of abstraction of mathematical objects and the possibilities of providing their visualization by computer interpretation; between the expediency of widespread use of ICT services for mathematical purposes in the training of pre-service teachers of mathematics and the lack of opportunities for their provision to ICT subdivisions and pedagogical universities; between the feasibility of using ICT outsourcing of cloud infrastructure for the pre-service training of mathematics teachers in Ukraine and the non-adaptability of foreign cloud-based mathematical services to the requirements of national educational standards; between the possibilities of application of cloud mathematical services in the process of formation of professional competencies of mathematics teachers and the absence of an adequate method for their implementation. The paper describes the professional training of mathematics teachers in universities of Ukraine, and considers the national and foreign experience of using the cloud-based services in mathematics teachers’ pre-service training and also the tendencies and prospects of using CoCalc in teaching mathematical disciplines. The process of system design of mathematics teachers’ professional competencies is characterized, and the model of using the cloud service CoCalc as a tool for forming mathematics teachers’ professional competencies is developed. The indicators and levels (high, sufficient, medium, low) were identified for each component of the pre-service mathematics teachers’ professional competence system within the proposed model. The method of using CoCalc as a tool for forming professional competencies of mathematics teachers is developed and its basic components such as purpose, content, tools, methods and results are elaborated. Information regarding the stages of research and also the experimental work objectives and content are presented; the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the main stages (ascertaining, formative) of the pedagogical experiment is performed, confirming the hypothesis of the study.

Training programs focused on professional learning and development are meant to provide teachers with opportunities to develop their professional competencies for teaching in specific domains. These programs represent an important branch of the educational system in Romania. In the study that we have initiated we have tested and validated the hypothesis that identifying professional training needs and offering specific courses in order to develop the professional competencies represents a key condition for teachers’ effectiveness in terms of their professional learning and development. The methods and instruments for educational research that we used in the present study are both qualitative and quantitative, based on questionnaires, individual interviews and focus group interviews. The reason why we opted for the mixed methods is because quantitative research throughout questionnaires does not always allow participants to explain their choices or the meaning of the questions. The quantitative survey was carried out on a non-probabilistic sample (770 teachers) and the focus groups were conducted with groups of 10 randomly selected respondents from the training program. All the teachers participating in our study are from pre-university education and have participated in continuing education programs accredited by the Department of Educational Sciences of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.

This research was designed to study pre-service mathematics teachers' professional competencies to assist student learning by using Lesson Study and Open Approach innovations from mathematics educators' perspectives. A total of 35 mathematics educators have more than three years of experience not only in terms of utilizing the Lesson Study and Open Approach innovations but also in providing training to the pre-service mathematics teachers were selected. The researchers employed three data collection methods, namely document analysis, a survey using a questionnaire, and interviews. The obtained data from three sources was designed with the principle of triangulation. The findings of this research were presented under the three steps of the Thailand Lesson Study Model. In the first step, “Collaboratively Design Research Lesson Plan”, pre-service teachers can create problem situations that associated with the students' real world, can analyze the context of the problem situations, can analyze keywords that initiate students' ideas, can anticipate students' ideas, and can prepare teaching materials to support students' ideas. This is followed by the second step as “Collaboratively Observe Research Lesson”. The findings revealed that pre-service teachers can observe students’ ideas when their students were solving mathematical problems, can notice students’ difficulties in their learning, can give feedback using words that match with students’ proficiency level, give students opportunities to show how to think and present their ideas, listen to and accept students’ opinions, and taking notes on students’ ideas or pieces of learning evidence. The findings of the final step namely “Collaboratively Reflect on Teaching Practice” showed that pre-service teachers could reflect the learning outcomes by correlating students’ ideas with the instructions.

The article is devoted to determination of the levels of the digital competence of future mathematics teachers at the ascertaining stage of the pedagogical experiment. A scientific analysis of the essence of the notion «digital competence» is carried out, its components are defined. In the process of research the components of the formation of the digital competence of future mathematics teachers were defined, namely: value-motivational (motives, goals, needs for professional training by means of digital technologies, improvement, self-education, self-development, stimulate a future teacher of mathematics to use digital technologies in learning); content (free use of the skills of processing information and working with digital objects, which respectively influence the formation of the digital competence of future mathematics teachers); activity (active use of digital technologies and computers in educational activities as a means of knowledge and formation of digital competence, self-improvement and creativity of future teachers of mathematics, as well as cultivation of similar qualities in students in the process of pedagogical practice); reflexive (attitude of future teachers of mathematics to digital society, their digital training, responsibility for the results of their activities in the digital educational space, self-knowledge and self-realization in future professional activities through digital technologies). The article specifies the criteria, indicators and levels of digital competence of future mathematics teachers. To test certain criteria for the formation of digital competence of future mathematics teachers, research methods are characterized. The results of the ascertaining stage of the pedagogical experiment gave grounds to state primarily medium and low levels of the digital competence of future mathematics teachers. As the next direction of scientific research on the presented problem, the authors consider theoretical justification of the technology for the formation of digital competence and its implementation in the process of training future mathematics teachers at the following stages: basic, technological, and professional.

The empirical study presents a question of how to assess professional training of trainee teachers and introduces the approach based on competency model. Based on the modification of the Teacher competencies framework (Rámec profesních kvalit učitele, Tomková et al., 2012) used in the lifelong training of the teachers an evaluation tool was created that contained 5 multi-dimensional competencies elaborated into 34 sub-items. This tool was used in the research of self-assessment of the development of professional competencies of trainee teachers and their assessment by supervising teachers during the block teaching practice. The research sample consisted of 74 students of lower secondary and secondary school teaching programmes and also 74 supervising teachers were involved. The results revealed that the assessment of the students by the supervising teachers is significantly more positive compared to the self-assessment of the students. Further, it was found out that the best and the worst evaluated sub-competencies by the students and teachers correspond. The best evaluated were competencies related to reflexion and creation of teaching environment, the worst evaluated were competencies related to the evaluation of the pupils’ work. Authors discuss what do these results imply for the frame of undergraduate teacher training and they indicate possibilities how to comprehensively implement the evaluation tool and competency model in the teacher training.
