Purpose – to investigate the relationship between job security and labor productivity among 45,506 companies from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Latvia. Design/Method/Approach. This article uses linear regression analysis based on data from the period of 2013-2017. Findings. The study indicates an inverse U-shaped relationship between employment volatility, as measured by the coefficient of variation, and labor productivity. Labor productivity increases along with employment fluctuation up to a certain point; however, when employees feel insecure, their labor productivity deteriorates. Surprisingly, for most companies, the relationship between employment fluctuation and labor productivity remains positive. Labor productivity gets affected positively by the security feeling rather than by guaranteeing the job position. Originality/Value. The results are consistent within the subsamples of the five individual countries in the sample and robust to two alternative measures of fluctuation, the mean absolute deviation, and the studentized range.   Paper type – empirical.

<p>The intensity and the spatial distribution of precipitation depths are known to be highly dependent on relief and geomorphological parameters. Complex environments like mountainous regions are prone to intense and frequent precipitation events, especially if located near the coastline. Although the link between the mean annual rainfall and geomorphological parameters has received substantial attention, few literature studies investigate the relationship between the sub-daily maximum annual rainfall depth and geographical or morphological landscape features.<br>In this study, the mean of the rainfall extremes in Italy, recently revised in the so-called I<sup>2</sup>-RED dataset, are investigated in their spatial variability in comparison with some landscape and also some broad climatic characteristics. The database includes all sub-daily rainfall extremes recorded in Italy from 1916 until 2019 and this analysis considers their mean values (from 1 to 24 hours) in stations with at least 10 years of records, involving more than 3700 stations.<br>The geo-morpho-climatic factors considered range from latitude, longitude and minimum distance from the coastline on the geographic side, to elevation, slope, openness and obstruction morphological indices, and also include an often-neglected robust climatological information, as the local mean annual rainfall.<br>Obtained results highlight that the relationship between the annual maximum rainfall depths and the hydro-geomorphological parameters is not univocal over the entire Italian territory and over different time intervals. Considering the whole of Italy, the highest correlation is reached between the mean values of the 24-hours records and the mean annual precipitation (correlation coefficient greater than 0.75). This predominance remains also in sub-areas of the Italian territory (i.e., the Alpine region, the Apennines or the coastal areas) but correlation decreases as the time interval decreases, except for the Alpine region (0.73 for the 1-hour maximum). The other geomorphological parameters seem to act in conjunction, making it difficult to evaluate, with a simple linear regression analysis, their impact. As an example, the absolute value of the correlation coefficient between the elevation and the 1-hour extremes is greater than 0.35 for the Italian and the Alpine regions, while for the 24-hours interval it is greater than 0.35 over the coastal areas.<br>To further investigate the spatial variability of the relationship between rainfall and elevation, a spatial linear regression analysis has been undertaken. Local linear relationships have been fitted in circles centered on any of the 0.5-km size pixels in Italy, with 1 to 30 km radius and at least 5 stations included. Results indicate the need of more comprehensive terrain analysis to better understand the causes of local increasing or decreasing relations, poorly described in the available literature.</p>

Abstract Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common neurological disease with disabling consequences. Social support is an important aspect of performance among patients and attention to perceived social support as a factor influencing health promotion is essential. Therefore, this study was performed with the aim to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and perceived social support in patients with MS.Methods: This cross-sectional and correlational study was conducted on 120 patients with MS. The participants were over 18 years of age and referred to the MS Clinic of Kashani Hospital, Isfahan‎, Iran. The subjects were selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS software. P-values of less than 0.05 were considered significant.Results: The mean (SD) disease duration and age of participants were 8.1 (5.9) and 33.67 (8.7) years, respectively. Moreover, 75.9% of the participants were women and 76.1% were married. The mean score of spiritual well-being was 87.08. The mean score of perceived social support was 61.52 (14.9). Pearson correlation test indicated a direct relationship between spiritual well-being and the total score of perceived social support (r = 0.415, P < 0.001) and the emotional (r = 0.328, P = 0.004) and informational (r = 0.311, P = 0.006) dimensions, but not the instrumental dimension (r = 0.197, P = 0.081). Multiple linear regression analysis showed a significant correlation between spiritual health and social support in the emotional dimension (P < 0.05)Conclusion: This study confirmed the relation between perceived social support and spiritual well-being of people with MS. Thus, it is necessary that perceived social support, as a strong predictor of spiritual health status, is considered in the designing of health promotion interventions for patients with MS.

Abstract Backgrounds Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) are the first leading cause of death worldwide. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between demographics, anthropometrics, sleep duration, physical activity, and ECG parameters in the Fasa Persian cohort study. Methods In this cross-sectional study, the basic information of 10,000 participants aged 35–70 years in the Fasa cohort study was used. The data used in this study included demographic data, main Electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters, anthropometric data, sleep duration, and physical activity. Data analysis was performed using t-test, chi-square, and linear regression model. Results Based on multivariate linear regression analysis results, increased age was significantly associated with all study parameters. Nevertheless, gender and body mass index showed no significant relationship with SV3 and PR. Wrist circumference, hip circumference and waist circumference significantly increased the mean values of the ECG parameters. However, sleep duration was not significantly associated with the ECG parameters. In addition, hypertension was major comorbidity, which was shown to increase the mean values of the ECG parameters. Conclusion Several factors affected the ECG parameters. Thus, to interpret ECGs, in addition to age and gender, anthropometric indices, physical activity, and previous history of comorbidities, such as hypertension and ischemic heart disease, should be taken into consideration.

This study aims to determine the effect of age, work experience, expertise of workers, health of workers, suitability of wages, field conditions and tools on the level of labor productivity in Kayangan port business and KMP Dingkis especially in cleaning services and kepil. Data analysis in this study uses the help of SPSS Software. In this study multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to determine the direction of the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable whether each independent variable is positively or negatively related and to predict the value of the dependent variable if the value of the independent variable increases or decreases. Data used is interval or ratio scale.     From the results of the analysis that has been carried out the level of productivity of workers in the cleaning service and kepil work at PT. ASDP East Lombok Kayangan Work Area is 85.53%, meaning that the productivity level is very good. Simultaneously age, experience, expertise. health, wage suitability, field conditions and supporting facilities have a significant effect on labor productivity, with F test (10,568)> F table (2,148). The partial dominant influence on labor productivity is: labor wages, supporting facilities, health and labor experience. This can be seen from T count> T table, while age, expertise and field conditions affect productivity but not real, because T count <T table. Simultaneously all variables have a significant effect because they have an R value or a high correlation of 0.722. The most dominant variable influencing labor productivity is wage suitability.

Abstract Purpose: To investigate the relationship between binocular function with gender, ages, and spherical equivalent (SE) .Methods: This observational study enrolled 243 healthy, non-strabismic adults, including 94 men and 149 women aged from 20 to 59 years. The subjects were divided into three groups according to SE: myopic group, emmetropic group and hyperopic group. The subjects were also divided into four groups according to age: 20-29 years group, 30-39 years group, 40-49 years group, and 50-59 years group. The binocular vision function was measured with a synoptophore, including subjective angle (SA), divergence, convergence and fusional vergence range (FVR). Results: The mean values of SA, divergence, convergence and range of fusion for the whole sample group were 3.33±0.16°, 9.72±0.26°, 19.34±0.54°, and 29.06±0.62°, respectively. The mean values of SA and divergence in myopic group were significantly larger than the emmetropic group (both p<0.05). SE, SA, divergence and FVR were significantly different among age groups (all p<0.05). Besides, linear regression analysis showed SE was correlated with SA and divergence (p=0.007, p=0.003). Age was correlated with SE, SA, divergence and FVR (p<0.001, p<0.001, p=0.005, p=0.002, respectively). In addition, the proportion of SA being in comfort zone (defined as the value of SA located in the middle 1/3 area of FVR) in age groups were statistically different. (χ2=8.283, p=0.041)Conclusion: Both SA and motor fusion are associated with age and SE in normal adult population.

Studies have revealed that anxiety is associated with intolerance of uncertainty (IU); however, no study has examined the predictive effect of IU on anxiety in individuals with liver transplantation (LT). Therefore, this study aimed to identify the relationship between anxiety and IU levels in individuals who received LT. A descriptive cross-sectional study with a convenience sample ( N = 118) was conducted at a center in eastern Turkey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and hierarchical linear regression analysis. The mean scores for the dimensions of IU, state anxiety and trait anxiety were 34.42 ± 8.35, 40.38 ± 10.07, and 41.88 ± 7.53, respectively. IU and anxiety in individuals with LT were identified as related dynamics. Present findings suggest that uncertainty and IU can be considered in the conceptualization and treatment of anxiety and related pathologies. Nurses may seriously consider these results in order to increase the quality of the treatment and care provided to patients.

Background & Aim: Psychiatric wards are stressful environments. Resilience can help psychiatric nurses cope with their occupational stress. The aim of the study was to examine the relationship of mental health with resilience among psychiatric nurses. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-correlational study was conducted in 2017 on a sample of sixty nurses purposively recruited from all wards of Qods psychiatric hospital, Sanandaj, Iran. Study data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, the 28-item General Health Questionnaire, and the 25-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. The data were analyzed via the SPSS software v. 16.0 through conducting the independent-sample t test, the one-way analysis of variance, and the multiple linear regression analysis. The level of significance was set at less than 0.05. Results: In total, sixty psychiatric nurses (34 males and 26 females) with a mean age of 33.23±5.45 participated in this study. The mean scores of their mental health and resilience were 57.35±11.12 and 63.9±14.05, respectively. Resilience had significant relationships with age (0.025), marital status (P = 0.013), and work shift (P = 0.005). Moreover, among the subscales of mental health, only the mean score of the anxiety and insomnia subscale had significant relationship with resilience, so that each one point increase in the mean score of this subscale was associated with a 1.029-point increase in the mean score of resilience (P = 0.036). Conclusion: Psychiatric nurses’ resilience can be promoted through managing their stress and promoting their mental health.

Abstract Background The pathogenesis of myopia has been found to be associated with the blood supply of the choroid. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the distribution pattern of choroidal remodeling and the degree of myopia in young patients. Methods Young patients (age < 18 years) with the spherical equivalent of less than − 12 diopters (D) were included. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) with enhanced depth imaging (EDI) modality was used to measure the choroidal thickness (CT) and choroidal vascularity index (CVI) in the macular regions. CVI was calculated as the proportion of luminal area to choroidal area and was measured within 1 mm and 3 mm nasal (N1 and N3), temporal (T1 and T3), superior (S1 and S3), and inferior (I1 and I3) to the foveal center. CVI was compared across different ages (i.e., 5 ~ 9 years, 10 ~ 13 years, and 14 ~ 18 years), axial lengths (ALs) (i.e., 21.00 ~ 25.00 mm and 25.01 ~ 29.00 mm), and spherical equivalents (SEs) (i.e., SE > -0.5D, − 0.5 ~ − 3.0D, − 3.01 ~ − 6.0D, and < − 6.0D). Linear regression analysis was applied to assess the association between independent (i.e., age, AL, SE, and intraocular pressure) and dependent variables (i.e., CVI of different regions). Results One hundred sixty-four eyes from 85 volunteers were included. The mean CT in the central foveal was 269.87 ± 63.32 μm (93.00 μm to 443.00 μm). The mean subfoveal-CVI was 67.66 ± 2.40% (57.84 to 79.60%). Multiple linear regression results revealed significant correlations between SE and T1-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.082, β = 0.194), N1-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.039, β = 0.212). Simple linear regression results revealed that T1-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.09) and T3-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.05) were negatively correlated with SE; N1-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.05) and N3-CVI (p < 0.05, r2 = 0.04) were negatively correlated with SE. Conclusions CVI in the horizontal meridian underwent the largest change as myopia worsened. Temporal and nasal CVIs within the r = 1 mm, and r = 3 mm subfoveal range were positively associated with the degree of myopia in young patients. The CVI value may be used to assess the vascular status of the choroid and be a potential marker of myopic progression.

SummaryIn a collaborative trial of eleven laboratories which was performed mainly within the framework of the European Community Bureau of Reference (BCR), a second reference material for thromboplastin, rabbit, plain, was calibrated against its predecessor RBT/79. This second reference material (coded CRM 149R) has a mean International Sensitivity Index (ISI) of 1.343 with a standard error of the mean of 0.035. The standard error of the ISI was determined by combination of the standard errors of the ISI of RBT/79 and the slope of the calibration line in this trial.The BCR reference material for thromboplastin, human, plain (coded BCT/099) was also included in this trial for assessment of the long-term stability of the relationship with RBT/79. The results indicated that this relationship has not changed over a period of 8 years. The interlaboratory variation of the slope of the relationship between CRM 149R and RBT/79 was significantly lower than the variation of the slope of the relationship between BCT/099 and RBT/79. In addition to the manual technique, a semi-automatic coagulometer according to Schnitger & Gross was used to determine prothrombin times with CRM 149R. The mean ISI of CRM 149R was not affected by replacement of the manual technique by this particular coagulometer.Two lyophilized plasmas were included in this trial. The mean slope of relationship between RBT/79 and CRM 149R based on the two lyophilized plasmas was the same as the corresponding slope based on fresh plasmas. Tlowever, the mean slope of relationship between RBT/79 and BCT/099 based on the two lyophilized plasmas was 4.9% higher than the mean slope based on fresh plasmas. Thus, the use of these lyophilized plasmas induced a small but significant bias in the slope of relationship between these thromboplastins of different species.
