This study aims to examine the extent to which the Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (PGMI) or Islamic primary madrasah student teachers have been competent in developing K13-based lesson plan. 34 students studying at PGMI Department of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of a state Islamic university participated in this study. This research employed qualitative descriptive method. The results show that in general the ability of the student teachers in developing K13-based lesson plan fall into less and good categories. This indicates that the ability of the student teachers has not fully met the process standards of the 2007 regulation no 41 by Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC). This suggests that the PGMI program make sure that every PGMI student teacher have adequate competencies of developing lesson plan based on K-13 based on the currently implemented approach, such as the scientific approach, and using it in their teaching well.

This research attempts to find out EFL teachers understanding of lesson plan and the development along with problems the teachers faced in developing lesson plan. The researcher used two data collection techniques; interview and analyzing the lesson plan developed by four EFL teachers. The interview results revealed that all participants understand about the lesson plan as well as its development and understand about the elements that should be included as parts of lesson plan, but, unfortunately, the teachers could not understand the system of learning assessment. They thought that it is too complicated because they should provide one system of learning assessment along with the rubric of assessment. On the other hand, the result of lesson plan analysis showed that all participants understand how to develop lesson plan by stating all elements of lesson plan in accordance with the requirements stated in the Regulation of Ministry of Education and Culture No. 103 in 2014. The problems found are when the teachers did not state learning purposes, even two of the teachers stated that learning indicator is similar with learning purposes. Another problem is found when they did not include the assessment rubric. Then, the other problem is found when they were asked about the implementation of scientific approach. Scientific approach is a new thing for them to be applied as the approach consists of observing, questioning, associating, collecting, and communicating. Keywords: lesson plan, lesson plan development, 2013 curriculum

Teacher-training has been developed through a complex weave of processes, models and theories, founded on experiences in educational settings. In 2015, the Academia Class program was added to teacher-training programs in Israeli academic colleges and universities and added new ways of thinking about student teachers’ practical experience. The program was widely implemented and became the flagship for teacher-training processes in Israel. As part of the program, student teachers and education students in their third year of studies participate in broad practical training for 12-16 weekly hours (for a year) in various educational institutions. Some of the changes engendered meaningful insights and processes that helped to reshape training processes. This article is derived from qualitative research that was involved in forming new models in teacher training, and offered an improved and enhanced approach to clinical practicum. Traditional pedagogic instruction is based on a “triangular instruction model” (student/teacher trainer/pedagogic instructor). The present study aims to expand this model by offering a new “pentagonal model.” The pentagonal model incorporates the following roles: student/coach-teacher/pedagogic instructor/coordinator teacher/academic instructor. The proposed model creates an ecosystem based on teacher-training processes and reinforces reciprocal connections, and different figures in new roles. It aims to connect the loose ends among the various participants involved in the practicum process in a more comprehensive and holistic manner. The practicum is performed in real time in the education field, in a clinical manner and is very meaningful for the future teachers’ work. Research method: Qualitative action research, documenting the expansion of the practical experience model at Ohalo College in northern Isrel. The proposed model is based on the authors’ experience from the past five years, as recorded in protocols, and work papers, as well as many meetings and discussions. It is important to emphasize that the model was tested and gradually improved, becoming refined through a dynamic process using feedback between the college and its students, and between the teachers and the instructors and pedagogic instructors. Participants included more than 500 students, 500 school and kindergarten teachers, and 40 pedagogic instructors, instructors, lecturers and others in relevant roles. The theoretical framework for the model relies on the concept of Pedagogic Content Knowledge (PCK), which emphasizes and reinforces pedagogic activity in the context of disciplinary knowledge content. In our opinion, the implementation of the model according to the approach described below creates a stable foundation for the student teacher practicum, in a manner appropriate given the current winds of change. The model should be applied in conjunction with essential changes in structural and behavioral policies necessitated by the Academia Class program.

Much of the literature on programs of pre-service teacher education highlights the disparity between what is learned at university and what is actually required in the classroom. This paper outlines a new philosophy of teacher training adopted by the Faculty of Education and Creative Arts at Australia’s Central Queensland University. It describes the design, content and operation of a new practicum program, where in a unique partnership between the university and the education community in which it operates, supervising teachers are able to customise part of each practicum to suit the individual needs of the student teacher. This organisational feature is continued into a compulsory six-week Internship that is designed to enhance the education experience for each individual student teacher. The paper concludes with the preliminary findings of an investigation into what student teachers see as the major differences between their final practicum and the internship.
