Aplikasi nilai  EC (VI = 1,7; VII = 2,4) mS cm-1 memberikan pertumbuhan tertinggi (tinggi tanaman, luas daun, bobot segar tanaman). Berdasarkan hasil berat segar tanaman pengaturan nilai EC dapat meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan nutrisi hidroponik. Lettuce is commonly consuming as a fresh vegetable in Indonesia. The evaluation of electrical conductivity adjustment by lettuce plant age is an effort to achieve quality product (fresh weight, visual appearance) and improve nutrient efficiency. This research conducted in September-October 2017 at Banjaran District. This experiment used a completely randomized design with 4 level treatments and replicated six times. Application of combination EC value phase vegetative I and vegetative II, respectively: A=(VI = 1.5; VII = 2.0); B=(VI = 1.6; VII = 2.2);C=(VI = 1.7; VII = 2.4);D=(VI = 1.8; VII = 2.6) mS cm-1. This research showed that application nutrient with EC value (VI = 1.7; VII = 2.4) mS cm-1 affect plant growth higher (plant height, leaf area, fresh weight). Based on the results of the plant’s fresh weight parameter EC value improved the efficiency of using hydroponic nutrient.

Geranium `Yours Truly' in 15-cm diameter plastic pots were greenhouse-grown as single pinched plants in a completely randomized design. Plants were irrigated with 300 mg/liter N from 20N-4.4P-16.6K with leaching fractions (LF) of 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4. There were 24 irrigations during the 8-week study. Plants with LF of 0.2 and 0.4 had 46% greater leaf area, 40% greater top fresh weight, and 37% greater top dry weight than plants with LF of 0 and 0.1. By week 5 the leachate electrical conductivity (EC) for LF of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 had increased from about 3 dS/m initially to 12, 8, and 4 dS/m, respectively. At harvest, medium ECe was 7, 4, 3, and 2 dS/m for LF of 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4, respectively. At harvest, medium pH was the same in the top, middle, and bottom thirds of the pot. At harvest medium ECe with LF of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 was 47, 68, and 60% lower in the bottom two-thirds of the pot than in the top third. With a LF of 0 the medium ECe was not lower in the bottom of the pot. Minimizing the LF for potted geraniums substantially reduced plant growth.

ABSTRACT Cauliflower is a brassica produced and consumed in Brazil, whose cultivation depends on the adequate supply of water and nutrients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of irrigation depths and nitrogen doses on the production components and water yield of cauliflower hybrid Barcelona CMS. The treatments consisted of five irrigation water depths (0, 75, 100, 125 and 150% of the crop evapotranspiration) combined with five nitrogen doses (0, 75, 150, 300 and 450 kg ha-1). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with a split-plot arrangement. The effects of these factors were evaluated using the response surface methodology. The water yield of the crop decreases with increasing irrigation water depth; therefore, the yield is higher when water replenishment is lower than the recommended. The highest estimated total inflorescence yield is 24,547.80 kg ha-1, with a inflorescence mean diameter of 19.60 cm, a inflorescence mean height of 12.25 cm, and an inflorescence fresh weight of 858.90 g plant-1, obtained with an irrigation water depth equivalent to 132.09% of the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and a nitrogen dose of 450 kg ha-1. The highest inflorescence diameter and height are obtained with an irrigation depth equivalent to 128.70 and 108.20% of ETc, respectively, and a nitrogen dose of 450 kg ha-1. Therefore, the best productivity response of the Barcelona CMS cauliflower hybrid can be obtained using an irrigation depth greater than the crop evapotranspiration, regardless of the nitrogen doses.

The Fertigation is the combined application of water and nutrients to a crop. It can be adapted to all types of agricultural crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of urea concentration in irrigation water on electrical conductivity of the soil solution and saturation extract along the first cycle of banana cv. Terra Maranhão. The experiment followed a completely randomized design with six treatments and ten replications. Treatments regarded for using three urea concentrations (1.0; 2.5 and 4.0 g L-1) in irrigation water applied by two micro irrigation systems (microsprinkler and drip). Results showed that there was a linear elevation of electrical conductivity of saturation extract and soil solution with the increase on concentration of urea in the injection solution. Urea should be used under concentrations up to 2.5 g L-1 in irrigation water without causing increase on electric conductivity of soil solution and saturation extract, considering 1.1 dS m-1 as the tolerated value for the crop. Nitrate in the soil solution increased significantly with the increase of urea concentration in the injection solution. The maximum concentration of nitrate in the soil occurred for 4,0 g L-1 concentration of the injection solution.

Abstract: Angico is a species found in several environments in Brazil, with several applications. It is used in the timber industry and mainly in folk medicine. In order to verify a variation in the biometric characteristics and the quality of seeds from different mother-plants in different harvesting years, the following variables were studied: moisture content, diameter, density, electrical conductivity, fresh and dry matter of seedlings, germination percentage and kinetics, in a completely randomized design with a 2x3 factorial arrangement (lots x size). The obtained results showed that angico seeds from different lots showed different physiological quality, possibly due to the climate variations to which mother-plants were submitted in the different years. Seed size directly interferes with seedling growth under both controlled and greenhouse conditions, and it can be used as a vigor indicator for angico seeds.

ABSTRACT   This research aimed to determine the effects of compost applications on ex-mining lands by using chinese cabbage as indicator. The experiments were conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture greenhouse and the soil and compost analysis were done at the Soil Chemistry and Fertility Laboratory for a duration of two months. The research employed a Completely Randomized Design method with 5 treatments repeated 3 times to get 15 experimental units. The analysis on ex-mining soil revealed that it contained only trace amounts of soil nutrients N, P, and K. The laboratory analysis on the compost sample resulted in a C/N ratio of 11.87 which suggested that the compost was mature and ready to be used. The Analysis of Variance on research data showed that compost applications did not affect plant height between treatments at each weekly observation, and similarly did not affect leaf quantity and fresh weight at harvest time.  However, the research found that the compost applications tended to improve plant height, leaf quantity, and fresh weight of plants at harvest time.  The minimal effect of compost applications between treatments suggested that the plants did not utilized the nutrients supplied by the compost in their early stages of development.  Moreover, it was also suspected that the compost applications had not been sufficient in supplying the soil nutrients needed by the plants to ensure proper growth which ultimately affected the fresh weight of the plants at harvest time. Keywords: compost, ex-mining land

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Brachiaria seed contact time with 05-25-15 fertilizer (N-P2O5-K2O) on the seed’s physiological quality. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with four replicates. Treatments were arranged in a 5x4 factorial, being: five seeds contact times with fertilizer (0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours); four forages: Marandu palisadegrass, Piatã palisadegrass, Xaraés palisadegrass and Ruziziensis grass. The performed tests were: water content, germination (first count and germination percentage), tetrazolium (viability), electrical conductivity, accelerated aging, sand emergency and emergence speed index. Contact time of 05-25-15 fertilizer with Brachiaria seeds reduces linearly: Germination, emergence and emergence speed index of Brachiaria seeds; Piatã and Xaraés palisadegrass seeds viability; vigor (electrical conductivity), except in Ruziziensis grass seeds; and seeds germination of Piatã palisadegrass submitted to accelerated aging test (vigor). Piatã palisadegrass is the least recommended, among the analyzed grasses, for intercropping in simultaneous sowing.
