The government's obligation to fulfill the basic rights of its citizens has not been maximally implemented, including in matters of education. For this reason, the Surabaya city government through the Social Service collaborates with public and private universities in the city of Surabaya to provide educational assistance to children from families with social welfare problems (poor), who are vulnerable or drop out of school through the One to One Campus Social Responsibility (CSR) program. In the implementation process, students are deployed to carry out various mentoring programs that aim at the big goal of reducing the number of vulnerable children and dropping out of school. The target of the program is children from families with social welfare problems (PMKS) who drop out or are prone to dropping out of school, which is recorded by the Surabaya City Social Service. The result is the awakening of the motivation of the assistants to keep up the spirit of school, and to return those who drop out of school to return to school. The method of implementation is coordination between social services and PTN / PTS in the city of Surabaya, socialization of the program to students, recruitment of CSR teams, implementation of mentoring and evaluation. The indicator of this CSR program is that students are able to return their siblings who are vulnerable or drop out of school, to return and be more motivated to go to school.keywords: campus social responsibility, social service, student

Purpose: The global forced migration crisis calls for responsive, research-supported social services. This systematic review examines available research on social service programs implemented with refugees worldwide. Methods: Through accessing academic databases, reviewing article reference lists and websites, and contacting experts, we identified 1,402 sources, 68 of which met review inclusion criteria and were selected for analysis. Results: Studies were conducted primarily in high-income countries ( n = 57). Programs examined were related to general adaptation ( n = 13), relationships ( n = 20), financial and employment support ( n = 15), or a specific area such as sport or gardening ( n = 20). Few studies used pre–post ( n = 6) or experimental designs ( n = 1), and in a majority of studies, the theory underlying the intervention was not specified ( n = 41). Discussion: Additional research is needed to better understand social service programming with refugees, particularly in understudied contexts.

A pilot telecare system was trialled in Liverpool. It was used to support the provision of care to 21 of the city council's elderly and frail social services clients. A typical installation consisted of about 20 wireless, ambient sensors in the client's home. A home gateway device ran alerting algorithms designed to learn the normal patterns of user behaviour and to identify deviations from this in real-time. When deviations were detected, social service delivery teams were alerted to a possible cause for concern. The pilot service ran for about 30 months and included a period of examination by independent evaluators. The evaluation found that overall the people who used the service – both users and carers – were overwhelmingly pleased with it and viewed it as a great success.

As the home computer and the Internet are becoming more and more popular, social service agencies in Hong Kong are beginning to show interests in making use of the new technology to extend social welfare services to the community. This paper presents the results of an empirical study to evaluate the Cyber-Parenting Project as a pioneer attempt in providing parenting education through the Internet and gives recommendations for future attempts of similar nature. The discussion covers the conceptualisation, design, implementation and utility of the Cyber-Parenting Project, and the recommendations include issues on system design, provision, testing, and monitoring of web-based social service programs.

In this study, researchers used Likert measurement scales. The Likert scale relates to a statement about a person's attitude toward something.  The results of this study can be concluded that: (1) The health of the market traders of the city of Rengat is interrupted because of the thick haze that affects the trading activity itself. (2) The income of market traders in the city of Rengat is decreasing due to declining people's desire to shop in the market due to the worry of being exposed to haze which can cause ISPA disease and other health disorders. (3) The market environment of the Rengat is affected by the smoke of the daily Trader's life. Usually traders have already held their trades starting from the beginning of the morning, because the haze of most traders often come late to the market (overdo). (3) The education of students from the family of market traders in the city of Rengat is also affected by the haze so that it must be dissolved until normal weather conditions are back. Because of this, students have a lot of missed material and have to force themselves to pursue the lag by adding hours and learning tasks that are much beyond the student's thinking capacity.

The present work was carried out by teachers of the Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila, its objective was to design an instrument to evaluate the abuse of the elderly in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila, to implement with the results obtained, social service programs that provide information on violence in the elderly, identify behaviors of the aggressor, observer and victim, as well as know their fundamental rights and institutions to go to. The instrument was applied at the Geriatric Hospital, 35 older adults participated, aged between 60 and 90 years. It was inspired by the Psychometric Validation of the questionnaire “This is how we get along in school”, and the Questionnaire prepared by INAPAM and SEDESOL, of both instruments resulted in the adaptation consisting of 35 reagents, dispersed in 4 factors: physical, psychological, damage to the property and financial, and sexual harassment. The results show that there is abuse in this group, of 19%, although its manifestation is not very marked, if there is one, corroborating what other studies say that this health problem is silent, by the person of the third age by loyalty to family values or for fear of reprisals from the person who takes care of him.

The problematisation of migration has intensified in Europe over the last decade, as the Financial Crisis of 2008 dealt a major blow to social welfare instruments. This context has reinforced the idea that immigrants would consume a disproportionate share of socio-economic resources available through social services, thus displacing the local population. This article examines the case of Spain, analysing the dynamics of accessing socioeconomic inclusion policies developed by public Social Services among immigrants and non-immigrants at risk of social exclusion, based on different secondary sources. The paper shows that is there no evidence that social services resources are being displaced for the socio-economic inclusion of the immigrant population.

World War I deferred women's progress toward suffrage and social welfare. Like other women, Weil worked for the Red Cross and was appointed to civic boards that sought to ensure social services maintained their vitality in war time. War service demonstrated women's qualifications for citizenship. As a volunteer nurse, she served the poor during the influenza epidemic, later suffering a bout herself. Weil joined organizations like the North Carolina Conference for Social Service which advocated for reform legislation. At war's end she committed to women's international peace organizations in support of disarmament, a World Court, and the League of Nations.

While rural residents still comprise nearly 60 percent of the total population in China, little is known about the evolution of rural welfare. This article explores welfare services in rural China using a broad definition of social welfare: efforts by the entire country and society to promote personal or societal well-being. Diverse approaches have been implemented to provide social services for rural residents with complicated dynamics among different providers, which follows a path different from that in the West. Findings of this study have important policy and research implications for understanding and further developing social welfare services in rural China.
