Most of the coastal areas in Kendari City have developed into settlements that having poor sanitation conditions, practicing of open defecation free, using construction of latrines without the appropriateness of health standards, and some sanitation facilities built by Government is not functioning properly. This study wants to analyze the social, economic, and cultural aspects that affect the management of sanitation for coastal communities in Kendari City, consist of a description of community behavior, the level of knowledge, awareness, and participation of residents in sanitation, and the willingness and capacity to pay management fees for sanitation facilities in coastal settlements in Kendari City. The methodology of this research was a type of quantitative research with a survey method. The technique of collecting data was Simple Random Sampling. Based on the Slovin formula with a confidence level of 90% with a sample size of 218 households. The research location is in 9 sub-districts which are directly adjacent to the coast of Kendari City. This research shows that social, economic, and cultural aspects such as education level, occupation, income, community knowledge affect sanitation management in coastal.

The social, economic and technological changes that have occurred in the last decade have substantially altered consumers’ eating behaviour. The objective of this study was to identify and describe cocooning as a new phenomenon in the food choices of Polish consumers and the factors that shape it, with particular stress on the possible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on this trend. For this purpose, primary and secondary tests were carried out. The primary studies examine the level of cocooning in consumer’ food choices, while secondary data analysis focuses on finding a relation between this phenomenon and the COVID-19 pandemic. The direct research was conducted by means of the survey method on a sample of 660 Poles in 2018. The survey carried out among Poles has shown that cocooning is rather poorly noticeable in the eating behaviour of consumers. This trend is observable predominantly in the behaviour of young people who are rather highly educated city residents; however, this depends on the type of activity related to cocooning. On the basis of secondary research, it has been shown that anxiety and a disturbed sense of public and social security are one of the most important factors that may affect the development of cocooning in consumer behaviour. The COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020 has evoked this kind of feeling in many consumers, which has been aggravated by the restrictions imposed by the state. Owing to the restrictions, social isolation increased and Poles have transferred many activities home, thus forming new habits, which may have a strong impact on their consumption behaviour in the longer term, even after the pandemic comes to an end. It is worth noting that the increase in the level of cocooning directly contributes to the growth of the e-commerce market, which poses new challenges especially for the logistics industry.

Background: As of the year 2014, about 2.5 billion people globally lacked access to improved sanitation. The situation is even worse in the sub-Saharan African countries including Kenya. The practice of open defecation (OD) peaks beyond 72% of the population in Turkana County, Kenya, despite various interventions to end it. Methods: This article reports on both qualitative and quantitative aspects of a cross-sectional study. A partially mixed sequential dominant (quantitative) status was used to understand various socioeconomic factors associated with OD practice in Lodwar’s human settlements, Turkana County. Simple random sampling technique was chosen to select participants for this study with the sample drawn from various administrative units of Lodwar. Standardized questionnaires, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews were used to collect data. Results: The quantitative findings revealed that culture was the leading factor as to why people practiced OD with a frequency of 44%. The findings further revealed that poverty was the major influencing factor for latrine ownership among the households (frequency 27%). Pearson χ2 tests revealed that there was a significant association between latrine presence and education level of the household head (χ2 = 107.317; P < .05), latrine sharing (χ2 = 403; P < .05), and occupation of the household head (χ2 = 74.51; P < .05). The quantitative findings showed that culture was by far the most common factor that contributed to the OD practice with a theme intensity of 31.1%. Further analyses identified 5 major cultural aspects that were associated with OD practice. This included sexual immorality, OD as a common habit, nomadic pastoralism, bride’s dignity and mixing of feces. Open defecation as a common habit among the respondents was the most cited factor that contributed to its rampant practice (theme intensity 31.3%) followed closely by nomadic pastoralism kind of life among the residents that limit latrine construction (theme intensity 28.1%). Conclusions: In addition to cultural aspects, high poverty levels influence latrine adoption and consequently OD practices. Future sanitation interventions addressing OD should assess and factor in these cultural aspects in such communities to come up with appropriate eradication measures which have otherwise been difficult to solve through poverty eradication and sanitation campaigns that have been in existence.

Objective - The purpose of this paper is to identify knowledge and attitude on preventive behaviour of the Zika disease. Using the Social Learning Theory, the present study aims: (1) to evaluate levels of knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviour on Zika disease; (2) to examine the relationship between knowledge and attitude with preventive behaviour; and (3) to determine the best predictor for Zika preventive behaviour. Methodology/Technique - This study employs the quantitative research design using the survey method. Data are collected using the self-administered questionnaire. A total of 207 students from a public university participated in the study. Findings – The levels of knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviour are high. There are positive correlations among knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviour. Attitude is the best predictor for preventive behaviour. With knowledge and positive attitude towards the disease, the preventive behaviours are practiced. Novelty - Very limited studies have been done in Malaysia regarding the Zika disease. This study provides valuable insights of knowledge and attitude that influence prevention behaviour of the disease especially among university students. ABSTRACT                                                     Organizational culture plays an important role in stimulating the human resources work spirit. The organizational environment affects staff behavior and appearance, as well as staff performance. QIM Hospital is a new hospital. Therefore, it is needed to know the influence of organizational culture on staff performance in the inpatient staffs of QIM Batang Hospital. Using a quantitative research with the survey method. The population in this research was all in-patient staffs of QIM Batang Hospital. A 51 people as a sample and choosen using simple random sampling. Data taken with questionnaire instrument, then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on staff performance. The influence of organizational culture on staff performance is 64.4% (the coefficient of determination of 0.644).   ABSTRAK   Budaya organisasi berperan penting dalam  merangsang semangat kerja sumber daya manusia. Lingkungan organisasi mempengaruhi perilaku dan penampilan pegawai serta kinerja pegawai. RS QIM merupakan rumah sakit yang tergolong baru. Sehingga perlu diketahui pengaruh budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja pegawai rawat inap Rumah Sakit QIM Batang. Melalui penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metode survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pegawai rawat inap Rumah Sakit QIM Batang. Sampel sebanyak 51 orang menggunakan simple random sampling, instrumen kuesioner, dan data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai. Pengaruh budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja pegawai sebesar 64,4% (koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,644).

The objective of the research is to find out the effect of personality and teamwork on instructor’s job performance. This research was conducted at Teaching Hospital in East Jakarta. This research was using a survey method with path analysis applied in testing hypothesis and 67 samples selected by simple random sampling. The research technique is analysis with quantitative research approaches by using causal analysis. The finding of the research are: (1) there is a positive direct effect of personality on job performance; (2)  ) there is a positive direct effect of teamwork on job performance; (3) ) there is a positive direct effect of personality on teamwork.

Sports betting activities, particularly among youth, is increasing rapidly in Ugandan. The aim of this study was to determine the motivation for sports betting among Ugandan youth, and the social economic impact of this form of gambling. In a cross sectional quantitative research design, a questionnaire data was obtained from a sample of 181 youth attending betting houses in the Mbale district.  Results indicated that that most youths were motivated by the desire to win money. Findings also revealed that Ugandan youth socially and economically benefited from sports betting. The study concludes by recommending that even if findings do not show the negative impacts of gambling on youth, there is need for stricter laws to avert any future negative implications.

Brand awareness is one of the brand equity components that holds a significant role in brand popularity and brand profitability. However, Pawon Jenonk has been encountering popularity and profitability issues for 3 years. Therefore, this study is executed to measure consumers' brand awareness of Pawon Jenonk and its ability to indicate the brand’s popularity and profitability or the contrary. In this study, the level of brand awareness is measured from both its depth and breadth. This study used a quantitative research design using a survey method to collect the data. The population is 160 consumers who purchased its product between December 2020 – January 2021 and simple random sampling was used to choose 150 consumers of the population. In analyzing the collected data, descriptive statistic analysis was used by categorizing the respondents’ total rating score towards the brand awareness instruments. The result shows that 59,33% of the respondents have a high level of brand awareness, 36,00% of the respondents have a moderate level of brand awareness, and 4,67% of the respondents have a low level of brand awareness. From that result, it can be stated that Pawon Jenonk has been quite successful in establishing its consumers' ability to recognize and recall the brand but not so much in establishing the consumers’ consideration to purchase and consume its products. It can be stated that this study indicates a linkage between brand awareness with the brand’s popularity and profitability. The result also proved that Pawon Jenonk’s issues are related to its brand awareness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the level of brand awareness can indicate brand popularity and profitability condition or the contrary.

A major concern for educational institutions is improving the quality of lives of students. This study investigated the relationship between social support and academic achievement of students and career aspiration of students in Myanmar. The quantitative research methodology, (survey method) was applied and 550 Grade- 8 students from public schools within Yenanchaung Township, Myanmar. Students in this study completed the two questionnaires, the social support questionnaore and the social support for career aspiration questionnaire to assess their received social support from their parents, teachers and peers. The researcher developed these questionnaires based on the four types of social support by Tardy (1985). The results of the data analysis suggest that there is a positive relationship between social support and academic achievement and the social support and students’ career aspiration.

ABSTRAK.  Desa Pakraman Julah merupakan salah satu desa adat tertua di Bali, desa ini sudah ada pada tahun caka 844 pada masa pemerintahan Sang Ratu Sri Ugrasena di Bali. Desa Pakraman Julah ini tepatnya terletak di Kecamatan Tejakula, Bali. Desa ini mempunyai keunikan tersendiri, dari adat istiadat, kebudayaan dan juga arsitektur yang dimilikinya seperti pola permukiman dan pola huniannya. Penelitian ini mengangkat permasalahan mengenai sejauh mana aspek sosial, ekonomi dan budaya mempengaruhi dan berkaitan erat dengan terbentuknya pola permukiman dan pola hunian di Desa Pakraman  Julah ini. Pola permukiman pada Desa Pakraman Julah ini terbentuk karena didasari oleh adanya konsep “Nyegara Gunung”, yang ada di dalam adat istiadat dan filsafat masyarakat Bali. Di dalam filosofi Bali “Nyegara Gunung” adalah bahwa elemen antara laut dan gunung tidak dapat dipisahkan, dan menjadi satu kesatuan yang sejajar dan saling mendukung satu sama lainnya. Sementara itu pola hunian yang ada di dalam masyarakat Desa Pakraman Julah terbentuk karena adanya konsep “Rwa Bhineda” yaitu dua elemen/ hal yang bertentangan seperti: luan-teben; sakral-profan, hulu-hilir; utara-selatan; positif-negatif; dan sebagainya. Pola permukiman dan pola hunian yang terbentuk di dalam kehidupan masyarakat Desa Pakraman Julah maupun desa adat lainnya di Bali, tentunya secara tidak langsung di pengaruhi oleh aspek sosial, ekonomi dan budaya yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat tersebut. Di dalam penelitian inilah akan dikaji lebih dalam mengenai kaitan dan hubungan timbal balik antara terbentuknya pola permukiman dan pola hunian di Desa Pakraman Julah ini dengan aspek sosial, ekonomi, dan budayanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif komparatif yang mengedepankan pendekatan deduktif dalam analisis pembahasannya.Kata Kunci: pola permukiman, pola hunian, aspek sosial, aspek ekonomi, aspek budaya ABSTRACT.  Desa Pakraman Julah is one of the old traditional villages in Bali. This village has existed since 844 year of caka, during the reign of Queen Sri Urgrasena in Bali. Pakraman Julah Village is precisely located in Tejakula District, Bali. This village has its own uniqueness, from customs, culture and also its architecture such as the pattern of settlements and patterns of the dwelling. This study raises the issue of the extent to which social, economic and cultural aspects affect and is closely related to the formation of settlement patterns and patterns of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village. The pattern of settlement in Pakraman Julah Village is formed because it is based on the concept of "Nyegara Gunung", which is in the customs and philosophy of Balinese society. In the Balinese philosophy "Nyegara Gunung" is that the elements between sea and mountain cannot be separated, and become a unity parallel and mutually supportive of each other. Meanwhile, the pattern of occupancy that existed in the community of Pakraman Julah Village was formed because of the concept of "Rwa Bhineda" ie two elements/ contradictory things such as luan-teben (outside-inside); sacred-profane, upstream-downstream; north-south; positive-negative; etc. The pattern of settlements and pattern of the dwelling that formed in the life of the community of Pakraman Julah Village and other traditional villages in Bali, of course, indirectly influenced by social, economic and cultural aspects of the community. In this research will be studied more deeply about the relationship and reciprocal relationship between the formation of settlement patterns and pattern of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village with the social, economic, and cultural aspects. KETERDEDAHAN TERHADAP TAYANGAN IKLAN DAN SIKAP IBU DALAM MEMBERI PANGAN BALITA (DESA PADASUKA, KECAMATAN CIOMAS, KABUPATEN BOGOR)Infancy is the period a very important life and need special attention from the parents. Most parents are instrumental in growing flower child is the mother. Attitude is thought to be the function of the knowledge gained through the media ad impressions. This research the correlation of knowledge and the ads exposure food and knowledge about advertising with the attitude of the mother in the giving of food on a toddler. Type of this research in quantitative research with survey method of qualitative data supported by in-depth in interview method. Respondents consist of 40 of mother. The results showed a significant correlation ads exposured levels against the level of knowledge of the mother and the level of knowledge of the food the mother has in giving food on toddlers.Keywords: ads exposured, attitude, knowledge------------------- ABSTRAKMasa balita merupakan masa kehidupan yang sangat penting dan perlu perhatian yang khusus dari orangtua. Orangtua yang paling berperan dalam tumbuh kembang anak adalah ibu. Sikap diduga merupakan fungsi dari pengetahuan yang diperoleh melalui media tayangan iklan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan keterdedahan iklan tentang pangan dan pengetahuan dengan sikap ibu dalam memberi pangan pada balita. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei yang didukung data kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam. Responden terdiri dari 40 orang ibu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat keterdedahan memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan tingkat pengetahuan ibu dan tingkat pengetahuan pangan ibu tidak memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan sikap ibu dalam memberi pangan pada balita. Kata kunci: keterdedahan  iklan, pengetahuan, sikap
