Background: Narcissism is a condition in which people have a constant demand to be complimented and prioritized. Self-esteem is a subjective evaluation of one's worth. Several studies have linked narcissism and low self-esteem as a risk factor of social media addiction, a disorder where individuals displayed an unhealthy compulsion to access social media until it disrupts other activities. This study aimed to discover the relationship between narcissism, self-esteem, and social media addiction in preclinical medical students. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional observational analytical study on 211 preclinical medical students at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. Instruments used in this study were Narcissistic Personality Inventory-16 (NPI-16), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS). Data were analyzed statistically using Chi-square in STATA analytic program.Results: Of all respondents, 6.6% were narcissistic, 19.9% had low self-esteem, and 34.6% had social media addiction. There was a significant relationship between narcissism and social media addiction (p=0.021) and between self-esteem and social media addiction (p=0.002).Conclusion: There is a relationship between narcissism, self-esteem, and social media addiction in university students. This indicates the importance of preliminary psychological screening in students, especially regarding self-esteem, narcissism, and social media addiction, to develop approaches that will ensure good academic achievements and physical health among students.

The present study aimed at testing a model developed to uncover the relationships among social media addiction, cognitive absorption, and self-esteem. This studys’ sample consisted of 361 university students, 198 of whom were females, and 163 were males. Data were collected using the Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS), the Cognitive Absorption Scale (CAS), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to analyse the data. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between cognitive absorption and social media addiction; thus, cognitive absorption predicted social media addiction. A negative and significant relationship between self-esteem and social media addiction was also found; thus, self-esteem predicted social media addiction.

Bullying merupakan perilaku negatif yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang oleh seseorang atau sekelompok orang yang bersifat menyerang karena adanya ketidakseimbangan kekuatan antara pihak yang terlibat.Tindakan bullying dapat berdampak buruk bagi korban maupun pelakunya di masa depannya. Dampak tersebut meliputi kesepian, pencapaian akademik yang buruk, kesulitan penyesuaian (adaptasi), meningkatnya risiko penggunaan zat, keterlibatan dalam tindakan kriminal dan kerentanan gangguan mental emosional seperti cemas, insomnia, penyalahgunaan zat, depresi, mempunyai self-esteem rendah, kesulitan interpersonal, gangguan konsep diri, dan depresi (ketidakberdayaan). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri dan ketidakberdayaan dengan risiko bunuh diri pada remaja yang mengalami bullying di SMA Negeri 7 Kota Bogor. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode cross-sectional study dengan bentuk pendekatan rancangan correlation study. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 183 orang didapat dari teknik randomsampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil uji hubungan dengan menggunakan Chi-Square antara konsep diri dengan ketidakberdayaan didapatkan nilai ρ (0,000) lebih kecil daripada nilai α (0,05), sedangkan uji hubungan antara konsep diri dengan risiko bunuh diri didapatkan nilai ρ (0,013) lebih kecil daripada nilai α (0,05). Dengan demikian bahwa ada hubungan antara konsep diri dan ketidakberdayaan dengan risiko bunuh diri pada remaja yang mengalami bullying di SMA Negeri 7 Kota Bogor. Kata kunci: bullying, konsep diri, ketidakberdayaan, risisko bunuh diri SELF-CONCEPT AND INEQUALITY CONNECTED WITH RISK OF SELF-SUFFICIENT IN ADOLESCENTS WHO HAVE BULLYING ABSTRACTBullying is a negative behavior that is carried out repeatedly by a person or group of people who are attacking because of an imbalance of power between the parties involved. Bullying actions can have a negative impact on victims and perpetrators in the future. These impacts include loneliness, poor academic achievement, adaptation difficulties, increased risk of substance use, involvement in criminal acts and susceptibility to mental emotional disorders such as anxiety, insomnia, substance abuse, depression, low self-esteem, interpersonal difficulties, disturbances self concept, and depression (helplessness). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-concept and powerlessness with the risk of suicide in adolescents who experienced bullying in SMA Negeri 7 Kota Bogor. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional study method with a correlation study design approach. The sample in this study amounted to 183 people obtained from random sampling techniques. The results showed that based on the results of the relationship test using Chi-Square between self-concept and powerlessness, the value of ρ (0,000) was smaller than the value of α (0.05), while the test of the relationship between self-concept and risk of suicide obtained a value of ρ (0.013 ) is smaller than the value of α (0.05). Thus that there is a relationship between self-concept and powerlessness with the risk of suicide in adolescents who experience bullying in SMA Negeri 7 Kota Bogor. Keywords: bullying, self-concept, helplessness, suicide risk

Abstract Background:  Social media are tools that supports electronic conversation. suggested , social media are “a group of internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, that allow the creation and exchange of User Generated Content. Aim of the study: Is to identify the pattern of usage of social media among a sample of Iraqi medical students including the devices used, the time consumed, and   the purpose of usage. Materials &Methods: The study, which is a retrospective cross-sectional, was conducted among medical students at college of Medicine\Baghdad University at 2019 as an online survey for duration of 3 months Data was entered and analyzed using spss version 24.Informed consent was obtained from the participants and the study was approved by the research committee in the college. Results The mean age of the participants in this study was 20.8 with sd 1.78. Results had shown no significant association between the usefulness of social media for educational values and type of social media, device used, and the time spent on these media. Results had shown that those who use social media more frequently were not significantly worried about the potential of social media abuse. Conclusions A study exploring more objectively the relationship between students’ use of social media with their academic achievements and what sort of social media interventions associated with better learning are probably needed. Such knowledge may be useful to guide medical educators to better utilize social media in their instructional strategies.

The use of social media has increased significantly in recent years, particularly among adolescents and this has triggered an upsurge in research into the connection between social media and self-esteem. However, there has been little attention paid to the association between social media and self-esteem in adolescents in rural areas, an oversight this study will address – focusing on adolescents in rural areas of Indonesia. This descriptive correlational study was conducted in 2018 at two senior high school in rural area of Bandung, West Java. Disproportion stratified random sampling was used to select the sample. Social Media Addiction Scale-Student Form Questionnaires (SMAS-SF) and Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale were used to collect the data. Pearson Product Moment correlation was performed to test the relationship between social media addiction and self-esteem. A total of 340 students joined our study, of which 59.7% were female. About 57.6% of the respondents felt discomfort when they had to reduce time spent using social media and 77.6% were addicted to using social media. 57.1% of the respondents have low self-esteem. There was a moderate positive relationship between addiction to social media and self-esteem among adolescents in rural area (r=0.418, p<0.05). This study suggest that social media addiction was correlated with self-esteem, for future studies could be considering gender difference to have better insight. Healthcare professional needs to design an intervention utilize social media to promote self-esteem among adolescents.   Keywords: social media, self-esteem, adolescents

The research is based on the theory of social learning and cognition proposed by Albert Bandura, the main objective is find the relationship between sexual intelligence and self-esteem in adults. The methodology used was of a quantitative approach, of a non-experimental type, with a cross-sectional design and an associative correlational scope; For this, a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 384 adults in the city of Quito, Ecuador was used. For data collection, a sociodemographic survey designed by the researchers was used, the Sheree Conrad and Michael Milburn Sexual Intelligence Test and the Rosemberg Self-Esteem Scale for adults. To test the hypothesis, the Chi-Square test was used; whose p-value = .000, which is why the null hypothesis (𝐻𝑜) was rejected, and it is affirmed that there is a relationship between sexual intelligence and self-esteem. To complement this information, Cramer's V correlation coefficient was used, the result of which is V = .263, which means that the relationship between the variables is weak. Therefore, it is concluded that despite having a moderately low sexual intelligence, self-esteem is good, besides, that self-esteem is mostly good for people with age ranges over 40 years regarding age groups older. young boys. Adolescence is a phase of developmental growth between childhood and adulthood. In 2013 the number of teenagers was 65 million people or 30% of the population of Indonesia. Parents find it taboo to talk about sex issues so teenagers are looking for alternative sources of information. Teenagers use mass media as a source of information. This study was to find out the relationship of social media use with the level of knowledge about free sex in adolescents at SMA Negeri 12 Makassar. Research design uses analytical surveys with a cross sectional approach. Sampling was with simple random sampling techniques. The number of respondents was 105 students. Data collection is done using questionnaires. Data analysis includes univariate analysis by looking for frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test α = 0.05 to find out the relationship between variables. The results of the analysis of bivariate obtained a relationship between social media and the level of knowledge about free sex (p= 0.002). The conclusion in this study is that there is a strongly relationship between the use of social media and the level of knowledge about free sex in adolescents

Objective: To assess the relationship between self-esteem and the academic score of undergraduate medical students of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study was performed from June 2018 to June 2019. The study area was Poonch Medical College, Azad Kashmir. The data collection tool was well-verified and widely used Rosenberg self-esteem scale. The study questionnaire was electronically distributed to all Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery students on the Poonch Medical College. The total student was 500 and out of the 253 completed and submitted the questionnaire (response rate of 50.6%). Results: The mean academic score of all students was 66.61 ± 5.42 and the mean RSE score was 28.66 ± 3.98. A statistically significant correlation was not found between age, academic score, and RSE score. Female students had slightly higher academic performance scores and RSE scores compared to the male students, but this difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: This study did not reveal any significant relationship between academic score and self-esteem of undergraduate medical students. However, both academic scores and self-esteem can be further improved. Future studies are invited to find out the other factors responsible for better academic performance. The level of stress in each education programs differ between medical students and other scholars. Students should able to cope to normalize their stress. The study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of reading the Qur'an with the level of stress on students. The study design was a cross-sectional study, with a simple random sampling. The collecting data technique was using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) questionnaires and duration questionnaires followed by the chi-square analysis. The respondents are 90 medical students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. The results showed that the duration of reading the Qur'an among students is poor, and the moderate duration is correlated with a good stress level (p=0,002). Concluded that there is a relation to the duration of reading The Qur'an with the level of stress in medical students.
