PURPOSE: Verify the presence of the rostral lamina of the corpus callosum, and set parameters for neuroendoscopy. METHODS: Relationship of the floor of the frontal horn of lateral ventricle and the hypothalamic-septal region were studied after sagittal and axial sections of the brains. Measurements were compared using F and Student t tests. The correlations between anterior-posterior diameter of the interventricular foramen / anterior-posterior diameter of the fornix column, and between anterior-posterior diameter of the interventricular foramen / length of the rostral lamina were performed by Pearson index test. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in measurements performed in both hemispheres (p<0.05). Positive correlations were observed between the anterior-posterior diameter of the interventricular foramen / anterior-posterior diameter of the fornix column (R = 0.35), and between the anterior-posterior diameter of the interventricular foramen / length of the rostral lamina (R = 0.23). CONCLUSION: Rostral lamina was observed in all brains. It was possible to perform an endoscopic fenestration in the rostral lamina, communicating safely the lateral ventricle with a polygonal subcallosal cistern.

Objective: Analyzing the differences between collagen thicknesses in periurethral region from transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) specimens of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and of those with urinary retention. Material & methods: This was an observation analytic study on 30 patients who underwent TURP. Patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into 2 groups: BPH patients with LUTS and those with urinary retention. Each group consisted of 15 people. The first TURP specimen of proximal verumontanum resection were examined in anatomic pathology using mass on strichrome staining as an examination of periurethral collagen thickness. Collagen will be stained as blue. Periurethral collagen thickness was measured from the basal membrane of transitional epithelium to fibromuscle tissue. Data were then statistically analyzed using independent t-test. Results: The average patient age was 66 ± 7 years old and there was no significant difference between age and periurethral collagen thickness with p=0.175 (p>0.05). The mean prostate volume was 47.19 ± 13.2 ml and there was no significant difference between prostate volume and periurethral collagen thickness with p=0.148 (p>0.05). Average periurethral collagen thickness in BPH patients with urinary retention was 146.67 ± 39.80 micrometers and while in those with LUTS was 205.33 ± 85.6 micrometers. There were no significant differences between periurethral collagen thickness and the occurrence urinary retention with retention of urine with p=0.063 (p>0.05). Conclusion: There were no significant differences between periurethral collagen thickness patients in BPH patients with LUTS and in those with urinary retention. This suggests that periurethral collagen thickness is not associated with the occurrence of urinary retention or LUTS in BPH patients.

Abstract Background Giving way and knee instability are common problems in patients with knee osteoarthritis, disrupting the daily activities and balance of the affected individual. The present study aimed to evaluate the postural control status of women with knee osteoarthritis with and without self-report knee instability (KI). Methods This cross-sectional, single-blind study was conducted on 57 female patients with knee osteoarthritis. The patients were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided into two groups of with KI (n = 26) and without KI (n = 31). Fear of movement was assessed using the Tampa questionnaire, the degree of knee instability was measured based on the Fitzgard scale, the static and dynamic balance of the subjects were evaluated with open and closed eyes using a Biodex balance device, and foot pressure distribution situation was measured using a FDM-S-Zebris device. Results Mean comparison showed a significant difference between the subjects with and without KI in static balance only in anterior–posterior direction with open eyes (p = 0.01) and closed eyes (p = 0.0001). In the dynamic balance test, the subjects in both groups had significant differences in terms of all the indicators of anterior–posterior stability (p = 0.001), medial–lateral stability (p = 0.0001), and overall stability (p = 0.0001) with closed eyes. However, no significant difference was observed with open eyes (p > 0.05). Multiple regression also indicated significant positive correlations between pain intensity and disease duration with the degree of KI (p < 0.05). Conclusions According to the results, there were significant differences between the mean pain scores, static and dynamic balance, and the rate of fall between the women with knee osteoarthritis with and without the KI index. Therefore, patients with knee osteoarthritis, which also has an index of KI, are more susceptible to falls, and proper strategies are required to reduce the level of KI in these patients.

Fish landing base (PPI) is a container that can support development and the development of a better fishery.Accordence with the increasing number of fishing vessels that enter the  territory  Kotabaru, either the ships  from itself or the ships that come from the outside area.  Making  the  existence  of  the PPI  Saijaan Kotabaru  a  medium  which  accommodates  fishery  activities  to  make  a   direct   relevance  relationship  of  upriver  and  downstream activities. This research was conducted: identifying facilities, conditions  and function of the PPI Saijaan Kotabaru; Analyzing changes in the income of entrepreneur fishery before and after the PPI Saijaan Kotabaru in District Stagen Kotabaru; Formulating a strategy of economic development of the PPI  Saijaan  Kotabaru as an area of fisheries.Analysis  Technique of  the  research  uses  qualitative  and  quantitative  method  with descriptive approach. The results obtained that the basic, functional and additional facilities of  the PPI Saijaan Kotabaru have been fulfilled by 90 % and have not been  fulfilled  by 10 % thatneed to be developed. Condition and function facilities of  the PPI Saijaan Kotabaru, is only 90 % facilities are function optimally and 10 % is  not function optimally.Wilcoxon  test results  in Statistics  Test, shows that value of Wilcoxon test p-value is  0.003 (< 0.05),then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a very significant difference from the increased income of entrepreneur fishery after the construction of  the PPI Saijaan  Kotabaru as well. The results of the value to external factors (EFAS) is = 2.85, while  for  internal factors (IFAS) is = 2.55. So the value of EFAS >IFAS value, then a qualitative activity and capacity of existing facilities of the PPI Saijaan Kotabaru still very likely to be developed.

A microneutralization fluorescent-antibody (MFA) test was effective in determining the level of antibodies to avian infectious bronchitis virus. A comparison of the MFA test with the cytopathic effect microneutralization (MNT) test and 50% plaque reduction (PR) test resulted in positive correlations that were significant (P less than 0.001). The PR test was more sensitive than either the MFA or the MNT test, but there was no significant difference between the sensitivities of the MFA and MNT tests. The MFA test has advantages over the PR test in the capacity to test large numbers of sera in a shorter period of time. The MFA test also can be completed in one-half the time required for the MNT test.

AbstractThe aim was to evaluate whether assisted reproductive technology (ART) affects the development of the fetal central nervous system (CNS).This study was carried out on women with singleton pregnancies, including 427 women who became pregnant by ART and 32,859 women with natural conceptions (NCs). The cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) width, transverse cerebellar diameter (TCD), cisterna magna (CM) depth, and lateral ventricle width were measured by ultrasound for 72 normal ART fetuses and 201 normal NC fetuses. The malformation rate of CNS was determined for both groups. In both groups, significant positive correlations with gestational age were found for CSP width (ART: r=0.7841, NC: r=0.7864; P<0.0001) and for TCD (ART: r=0.7698, NC: r=0.6926; P<0.0001). However, neither CM depth nor lateral ventricle width showed a significant correlation with gestational age. None of the measured parameters showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The CNS malformation detection rate was 1.2% (5/427) in ART fetuses and 0.9% (296/32,859) in NC fetuses. It did not reach statistical significance (P>0.05).The development and malformation rate of the fetal CNS is not significantly different between ART and NC fetuses, thus, ART does not affect the development of the fetal brain.

Abstract Purpose This study examined the relationships of knee extensor strength and quadriceps femoris size with sprint performance in sprinters. Methods Fifty-eight male sprinters and 40 body size-matched male non-sprinters participated in this study. The knee extensor isometric and isokinetic strengths were measured using a dynamometer. The isokinetic strength measurements were performed with slow and fast velocities at 60°/s and 180°/s, respectively. The quadriceps femoris muscle volume (MV) was measured using magnetic resonance imaging. The relative knee extensor strengths and quadriceps femoris MV were calculated by normalizing to body mass. Results Absolute and relative knee extensor strengths during two velocity isokinetic contractions, but not during isometric contraction, were significantly higher in sprinters than in non-sprinters (P = 0.047 to < 0.001 for all). Such a significant difference was also observed for relative quadriceps femoris MV (P = 0.018). In sprinters, there were positive correlations between all three knee extensor strengths and quadriceps femoris MV (r = 0.421 to 0.531, P = 0.001 to < 0.001 for all). The absolute and relative strengths of the fast-velocity isokinetic knee extension correlated negatively with personal best 100-m sprint time (r = −0.477 and −0.409, P = 0.001 and < 0.001, respectively). In contrast, no such significant correlations were observed between absolute and relative quadriceps femoris MVs and personal best 100-m sprint time. Conclusions These findings suggest that despite the presence of the relationship between muscle strength and size, the knee extensor strength may be related to superior sprint performance in sprinters independently of the quadriceps femoris muscularity.

Laterite was treated with calcium carbide waste and lime as the control, to ascertain its modification and stabilization potential, in incremental order of 2% up to 10 %. Atterbergs limits test, compaction test, California bearing ratio (CBR) and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) test was performed on laterite treated with both additives. The use of χ2test to compare results of tests, showed that there is no significant difference between the modification potential of both additive as reflected in χ2values of 1.293, 0.995 and 0.650 obtained from the comparison of liquid limit, plastic limit and plasticity index test results. However difference was observed with CBR and 7 day UCS test results as χ2values of 13.75 and 11.64 respectively were higher than the standard value of 9.49 obtained from statistical Table at 4 degree of freedom and 5 % level of significance. Based on result of tests, calcium carbide waste is recommended for use in soil modification and stabilization, as usage will provide an effective way of disposing calcium carbide waste.

Background: The condylar position discrepancy between centric relation and maximal intercuspation has been still a controversial issue. Aims: To compare the condylar position between centric relation and maximal intercuspation using cone-beam tomography in patients without temporomandibular joints disorder. Materials and methods: To assess the condylar position in centric relation and maximal intercuspation using cone-beam tomography on 40 fifth-year and sixth-year dental students of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy without temporomandibular joints disorder. The condylar positions are assessed following Sener classification (2009) and are compared between centric relation and maximal intercuspation using pairedsamples t-test and Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: Among 480 condye-to-fossa measurement pairs, there are 91.2% pairs having difference between two reference position but there is no significant difference. The condylar position at the superior of mandibular fossa has the greatest percentage in both centric relation and maximal intercuspation (43.8% in centric relation and 51.2% in maximal intercuspation). This greatest percentage is followed by the condylar position at posterior of mandibular fossa (32.5% in centric relation and 36.3% in maximal intercuspation). Lastly, the condylar position at the anterior of mandibular fossa has the fewest percentage (23.7% in centric relation and 12.5% in maximal intercuspation). Conclusion: There is no significant difference of condylar position between centric relation and maximal intercuspation in patients without temporomandibular joints disorder. Key words: Condylar position, centric relation, maximal intercuspation, cone-beam tomography
