SUMMARY Brazil has favorable hydrographic and climatic conditions for the development of fish farming. The success of this activity depends on the quality of the water, since it directly influences its productivity. Therefore, in order to verify the microbiological and physico - chemical characteristics of the water in the creation of the tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) species in fish farming in São Bento, a municipality located in the. State, 16 water samples from six fish farms were evaluated for the physical parameters (Temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, color, alkalinity, hardness, nitrate and nitrite) and microbiological (coliforms and heterotrophic mesophilic bacteria). According to the findings, all samples were contaminated by total and thermotolerant coliforms, 13 (77.15%) were outside the standards recommended by the legislation. As for the mesophilic aerobic heterotrophic bacteria, the mean counts ranged from 30.6 x 102 to 4.7 x 104 CFU / mL. As for the physical-chemical parameters, it was verified that the temperature ranged from 27.4°C to 30°C; PH 5.0 to 8.2; Transparency ranged from 0 to 46 cm; Turbidity from 12 to 1,251 NTU, the color from 0 to 666.50 UH; Dissolved oxygen from 7.1 to 14.7 mg / L; Alkalinity of 17.5 to 412 mg / L; Hardness from 14.6 to 1027.8 mg / L; Nitrate from 1 to 160 mg / L and nitrite from 0.01 to 0.45 mg / L. The findings show that the water of fish farms has inadequate microbiological and physico-chemical characteristics for fish farming.

Abstract Grapevines can be grown in different soil classes and climatic conditions. However, the effect of these variables on grapevine and grape composition is complex. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of soil classes and climatic conditions on productive and physico-chemical characteristics and phenolic compounds of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The experiment was carried out in São Joaquim (SC), located on the Southern Plateau of Santa Catarina. Cabernet Sauvignon variety was analyzed in three soils (Dystrudepts, Humudepts and Rhodudalfs) and two harvests (2015 and 2016). The climatic variables analyzed were rainfall, insolation and average, maximum and minimum temperatures. Soil physical-chemical attributes, productive and physico-chemical characteristics and phenolic compounds of grapes were analyzed. Both soil class and harvests had significant effect on productive and physico-chemical characteristics and phenolic compounds of grapes. Soil was more important for productive characteristics and phenolic compounds, while meteorological conditions were more important for the physico-chemical characteristics of grapes. Productive characteristics and grape composition were more adequate to wine production in the 2016 harvest and in Rhodudalfs and Dystrudepts soil classes.

The objective of this research was to measure and analyze the water quality parameters including temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide and BOD in reservoir Embung Klamalu Sorong regency, and to know the factors that affected the water quality of Embung Klamalu. Measurement of water quality parameters was done in situ for temperature, brightness, pH and in laboratory for dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide, and BOD. The results showed the temperature at the five observation stations ranged from 26.2 to 29.8 0C, brightness 38 to 46 cm, pH 7.20 to 8.48 mg /L, dissolved oxygen from 7.20 to 8.48 mg / L, alkalinity 100 to 150 mg /L, carbon dioxide from 25.90 to 28.95 mg / L, BOD from 0.20 to 0.38. Refers to the standards of water quality according to the PP. 82, 2001, it could be concluded that water physical-chemical qualities in fish farming locations in the Village Klamalu were still in good condition.  Three trout farms from Nepal were studied to investigate the changes in physico-chemical parameters and their potential threat to natural water bodies receiving the effluents. Reference and impact sites were determined in each farm so as to find out the level of impacts due to farming activities. Some of the parameters such as dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, and total dissolve solids were significantly changed in the impacted zones compared to reference sites. Similarly, concentrations of some major ions such as calcium and sodium were increased in the impacted zones. On the other hand, some of the parameters such as pH and potassium did not change in the impacted zone although their concentrations were different among farms studied. Nevertheless, the overall changes in the physico-chemical parameters did not pose health risk to the aquatic ecosystems receiving effluents from these fish farms as the concentrations were below the prescribed levels by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as Nepal Environment Statistics. This is an indication that, although fish farming activities are degrading water qualities, there is no threat to the water quality receiving the effluents yet probably due to small scale farming. Among different water quality parameters dissolved oxygen, transparency, pH, PO4-P and depth varied significantly among the sampling sites. The pH value in the present investigation remained a buffer condition (6.50- 7.90). Dissolved oxygen was ranges from 3.80 to 11.60 mg/l throughout the study periods. PO4-P concentration was observed highest (0.30 mg/l) in sampling site 2. On the basis of physical, chemical aspects sampling site 3 and sampling site 5 (situated in gosaipur and chandandoho) found in better condition in terms of limnological aspects. This study was designed to assess the physico-chemical characteristics of Cauvery river three stations (S1- Domestic sewage release place, S2- Pooja waste release place and S3- People dress washing place. Erode. The parameters were analysed such as Temperature, pH, Colour, Odour, Turbidity, DO2, BOD, COD, Salinity, Total alkalinity and Total hardness. The pH ranged from (8.2 to 8.7), Dissolved oxygen (4.987 to 6.253mg/lit), BOD (13.768 to 17.564mg/lit), as recorded in S1 Place. COD (34.7 to 36.7mg/lit), Calcium (89 to 105mg/lit), Salinity (7.12 to 12.6mg/lit), as observed in S2 place. Total Alkalinity (164 to 198mg/lit), Nitrate (0.32 to 0.45mg/lit) and Phosphate (0.34 to 0.40mg/lit) as analyzed in S3 Place. The nding of the study revealed that the river water is polluted not advisable for human usage without any treatment. This study concluded that the seriousness and responsibility of public to conserve our water resources for healthy living.

Hematological and some biochemical contents of the blood in relation to physico-chemical characteristics of the water have been studied in the fresh water fish, Notopterus notopterus. The results indicated that normal values have been found in comparison to the studies carried out in other fishes. Hence, the fish Notopterus notopterus is having favorable environmental temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen required for the fish to survive and regulate breeding activities.

Tamarind is a fruit of foreign origin, more precisely African, but it has an excellent adaptation to the different types of climatic conditions in other continents. In Brazil, for example, it is possible to find it in several states. Although tamarind has a considerable yield on both its constituent parts, shell, pulp and seeds, and have a low purchasing power, the fruit is largely wasted and there are few in-depth studies on the same. As a way of reuse, the aim was to transform the fruit into new products, such as flours used in human food. The objective of this study was to make the drying of the tamarind fruits to obtain the ideal characteristics for the development of a food flour and to evaluate the physical-chemical quality and to determine the bioactive compounds of the tamarind flour. Drying was done at 60 °C in a greenhouse, during different drying periods, which varied according to each part of the fruit, after which the flours were elaborated and characterized for the physicochemical and bioactive parameters. In the physico-chemical characterization, a good presence of proteins in the seed flour (7.09%), low sugar content in the pulp flour (0.74%), good values ​​for lipids in the seed flour (3, 41%) and good ash values in the bark flour (2.69%). In general, the flour besides proteins had a good source of energy and minerals. Among the bioactive compounds present in the tamarind flour were the high contents of phenolic compounds (1564.9 mg/100g), vitamin C (80.95%), lycopene (89.62 mg/g), flavonoids (20.44 mg/100g) and anthocyanins (12.84mg / 10g) in the seed flour, carotenoids (20.80 mg/g) in the pulp flour. In general, flours produced from tamarind had excellent characteristics for the preparation of bakery products.

The aims of the study were : a. to identify the physical, chemical and biological parameters at the utilization zone-coastal water of Kupang Bay, East Nusa Tenggara, b. to analyze the value of coastal water suitability from the physical, chemical and biological parameters for the development for maniculture at the utilization zone of Kupang Bay, East Nusa Tenggara, c. to select the sub zone for the sea weed culture, grouper fish culture site using the system of floating net cage and the culture of pearl oyster. The method used in the study is a spatial approach by conducting the direct measurement of the physical, chemical, and biological parameters. Mapping and spatial model was processed and analyzed through a geo-statistic method. The site selection for mariculture sub-zones were constructed through a spatial scoring and spatial interaction-RGB model and based on matrix of ecosystem parameters suitability score and weighting. With consideration that any numerical, mathematical or spatial model related to the surface of the earth or an ecosystem should take into account the concept of 4D function of its spatian distribution (x,y,z)and temporal consideration (time) such as seasonal data. The result showed that the range values of the physical, chemical, and biological parameters at utilization zone of the Kupang Bay are as follow: 1. Variable of physical parameters were: a). depth 5-25 m, b). transparancy 3.00-11.00 m, c). temperature 26-28.45 degree of celcius, d). salinity 31.50-38.20 ppt, e). substrate consist of: sand, sandy clay, clay sand, silt clay, silt, sand, and coral, f). current velocity 0.059-0.238m per s, and g). total suspended solid 180-305mg per l. 2. Variable of chemical parameters were: a). dissolved oxygen 6.85-8.74 ppm, b). pH 7.97-8.59, c). phosphate is 0.081-0.435mg per l, and d). nitrate 0.145-4.134 mg per l, 3. Variable of biological parameter were: a). abundance of phytoplankton 106,760-210,380 cell per l, and b). chlorophyll-a 0.033-0.037 mg per m. Sub zone for seaweed culture identified mainly almost at all area of the middle of the Kupang Bay width about 7,544 hectares. The most-suitable sub-zone for grouper fish culture was 2,803 hectares wide and width of 1,336 hectare of moderately-suitable. Sub zone for pearl culture exist especially at the north part of Kupang Bay and at some area nearby at the mouth of the Kupang Bay wide about 4.383.8 hectares. The approach with the above concept had proved that with a significance difference of scoring-weight on each specific and important ecosystem parameters for each spatial analysis purposes (i.e.50 percent scoring-weight of nitrate and phosphate for sea weed culture sub zone; 40 percent scoring-weight of dissolved oxygen for fish culture sub zone and 40 percent scoring weight of plankton abudance for oyster pearl culture sub zone), had resulted in a distinctive and specific delineation for each culture sub zones, thus avoiding and less on sub zonal overlapping. Sea-based fish farms are associated with strong benthic enrichment gradients and routine monitoring is usually required by regulation. Internationally a wide range of approaches exist for measuring the degree of benthic deterioration around fish farming activities, ranging from simple visual or odour assessments to the calculation of secondary indices that combine multiple biological and/or physico-chemical metrics (e.g., AZTI Marine Biotic Index; Invertebrate Species Index; Norwegian Quality Index; Infauna Trophic Index). In New Zealand, the health of marine benthic ecosystems around coastal salmon farms is currently measured using an Enrichment State (ES) index. This index incorporates physico-chemical (redox, organic matter, sulphates, etc.) and benthic macrofaunal measurements, which requires taxonomic expertise, is time consuming and expensive. Supported by a range of private/government agencies and industry partners, we have developed and tested the robustness of bacterial, eukaryotic, and multi-trophic Metabarcoding Biotic Indices (b-MBI, e-MBI, and mt-MBI, respectively) using a molecular Eco-Group approach. The indices were calculated via automatic computer pipelines using data collected over a period of nine years from a range of high- and low-flow salmon farms (12 farms and 60 stations) from three distinct regions in New Zealand. The MBIs were compared against the established ES index. All MBIs yielded strong and highly significant relationships with the ES index. The strongest relationships (R2 > 0.9) were obtained with the b-MBI. A refinement of the b-MBI (2019-2020) was supported by highly prolific microbes throughout the ES spectrum, and in particular in the upper end of the organic enrichment scale where traditional benthic indices tend to fail. This resulted in ES values of both (molecular-based versus morphology-based) indices to follow a near one-to-one relationship, performing consistently across water flow environments and considered sub-regions. Station-averaged results were also used to compare regulated compliance outcomes between the two indices, based on the current key compliance criteria for farms within each flow regime. Of the 67 seabed monitoring stations that were subsequently classified as compliant or non‑compliant, 62 stations had identical compliance outcomes (i.e. 92% of instances). Furthermore, the b-MBI showed consistently narrower (~50%) confidence interval bands when compared to the traditional ES index. The b-MBI offers unprecedented precision for determining subtle changes along enrichment gradients, constituting a valuable asset for triggering timely management responses and improving compliance. The protocols developed in this project enable rapid, standardised, and cost-effective eDNA isolation and extraction, followed by automatic b-MBI calculation. The affordability and versatility of the b-MBI tool suggests that it could be immediately integrated into current monitoring strategies as the primary benthic assessment tool for assessing benthic impacts of salmon farms in New Zealand.
