La innovación y el desarrollo tecnológico son una fuente crucial de competitividad dentro del entorno comercial global. En el siglo XXI, firmas automotrices alemanas como Audi, Volkswagen y Mercedes-Benz se han posicionado en el top de empresas con reconocimiento internacional por su calidad y prestigio innovador. No es ninguna novedad destacar que cada vez existen más compañías productoras de automóviles que se establecen a partir de la reproducción a bajo costo de los modelos de las principales marcas. Sin embargo, cabe destacar el hecho de que la industria automotriz alemana ha extendido su vinculación con las empresas ensambladoras de automóviles en China, que se han vuelto conocidas por duplicar el producto alemán. Mediante un análisis bajo los lentes de la seguridad económica, la dinámica del espionaje industrial moderno y la cultura del capitalismo chino, este trabajo se enfoca en evidenciar cómo el espionaje corporativo constituye una parte más del juego comercial moderno, particularmente en el contexto de la industria automotriz alemana en China. Así, se analizan los principales casos de espionaje chino de la industria alemana, las acciones defensivas emprendidas por Alemania y las estrategias que su industria automotriz prioriza para mantener la competitividad en un entorno de espionaje e incertidumbre. Abstract Innovation and technological development are a crucial source of competitiveness within the global trading environment. So far in the 21st century, some German automotive firms, such as Audi, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz, have positioned at the top of internationally recognized car companies for their quality and innovative prestige. It is no novelty to mention that there are more and more car-producing companies, which reproduce the models of the main brands at a lower cost, and in doing so, they have positioned themselves internationally. However, it is especially noteworthy the fact that the German automobile industry has been spreading its linkage with the manufacturers and assemblers of cars in China, which have become famous by doubling the German product. This article shows how corporate espionage constitutes a part of the modern commercial game, particularly in the context of the German automotive industry in China, under the lens of economic security, the dynamics of modern industrial espionage and the culture of China's capitalism. For such ends, it discusses the main cases of Chinese espionage of the German industry, the defensive actions undertaken by the German Government, and the strategies that the German automotive industry prioritizes in order to maintain its competitiveness in an environment of espionage and uncertainty.

The subject of this article is the quality of management of State programs (as in the first part of the State program «Industrial Development and Competitiveness», devoted to the automotive industry). Despite a high formal performance rating of the implementation of the State program, the analysis showed that its implementation had virtually no impact on the development of the Russian automobile industry. The work identifies the main reasons for this. All the causes identified are not specific to the automotive industry. On the contrary, they are all of a general, systemic, methodological nature, suggesting that they are characteristic of the management of State programs as a whole. The poor quality of the management of public programmes creates a range of risks to the economic and national security of the country, which are discussed at the end of the paper.

Air conditioning has become a key component in the automobile industry now, and almost every vehicle manufactured in the 21st century has air conditioning integrated. Most drivers drive with their air conditioning on while some of their windows are not fully closed; this affects the operation of the air conditioning. In addition, if the driver wants to turn on the air conditioning while driving, he or she has to move up the power windows manually after or before he or she turns on the air conditioning, which may affect his or her concentration on the road. The concept of this power window circuit system is to automatically close the windows after a few seconds when the air conditioner is turned on.

The article addresses what seems to be the critical aspects related to the most important competence of a human being in the 21st century – the competence to manage oneself. Nowadays, when life and civilization and technological development have accelerated unbelievably, people find it increasingly challenging to fulfill the social roles entrusted to them. That applies to everyone, but especially to those who have to manage (lead) other people or even entire teams, often forgetting about themselves, their needs, life priorities, and personal development. One should be able to wisely and rationally plan professional development in his/her personal life so as not to lose himself/herself entirely in the surrounding reality, being absorbed only in professional matters and others’ problems. This article indicates the most critical aspects that should be taken into account when planning personal and socio-professional development since only in this way can one feel the fulfillment of both in personal (family) and social and professional life.

This paper purpose is to investigate the benefits of Lean Six Sigma to the Malaysian automotive industry. Lean is an approach that seeks to improve flow in the value stream and eliminate waste. It’s about doing things quickly. Six Sigma uses a powerful framework (DMAIC) and statistical tools to uncover root causes to understand and reduce variation. It’s about doing things right (defect free). As global competition continues to grow, the pressure to improve becomes more andmore intense. Thus, a combination of both Lean and Six Sigma is born. This method provides an over-arching improvement philosophy that incorporates powerful data-driven tools to solve problems and create rapid transformational improvement at lower cost. Thus, this paper also tries to examine how the Lean Six Sigma can contribute and brings a positive impact to the automotive industry in Malaysia.

The engineering industry, including the automotive industry, belongs to the strategic branches of the country’s economy and to a large extent determines the level of development. The Chinese automobile industry dates back to 1953, and the first automobile factory, the First Automobile Works (FAW), was started in Beijing. Over the next few years, several more car factories were established in Nanjing, Khanhai, Jinan and Beijing. The requirements of funds, technologies and automotive modernization stimulated the attraction of external investment. A number of restrictive measures have been adopted to curb external competition, reduce car imports and attract innovative technologies, including high tariff and non-tariff barriers, screening, and restrictions on foreign capital, Limiting market share to foreign companies. When signing the joint-venture agreement, the Chinese side insisted on technology transfer and subordination to the Chinese leadership. Volkswagen first built a car factory in China. Today almost every progressive car company is represented in the Chinese car market, such as Mercedes-Bens, Ford, General Motors, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Honda, Subaru, Citreon, Toyota. Most of them have partnerships with one of China’s top three car manufacturers. American, European, and Japanese automakers see China as a promising market as demand for vehicles in the US and Europe shrinks. To the Chinese automobile market, the cars are made according to the requirements of the local consumer – conservative, with high-quality design, low and middle price segment. Since 2009, foreign automobile companies have accounted for 85% of the Chinese car market. About 60% of the cars sold in China are locally produced. However, China’s automobile industry is highly fragmented and mostly consists of small companies that produce a small range of components. Such production is labour-intensive with relatively low use of advanced technologies compared to car manufacturers in developed countries, often lacking economies of scale. Research expenditure accounts for a large part of the expenditure structure. Most companies produce low-tech parts with significant import presence.

The article analyzes the role of trade policy in ensuring the competitiveness of the automotive industry – one of the most sensitive to the changes of economic conditions and important for providing national economic security – and finding a balance between the need to regulate the internal market and the implementation of the commitments under WTO. The analyze of the current condition of the Russian automotive industry has shown that, despite the low share in the world production and exports, Russia has a great potential for growth, mainly due to the unsaturated domestic market. It is proved, that the development of the automotive industry as one of the innovative industries in the country has all the necessary terms. Moreover, the priority areas for the development of the automotive industry include, first of all, the creation of a full range production with foreign investment. Measures of attracting and regulating FDI received much attention due to their relationship with the instruments of trade policy, as the production of capital goods, particularly automobiles, require imports of components, and FDI, in turn, promote the export of finished products. The commitments taken by Russia in the automotive industry include reduction of duties on imported cars, the renegotiation of investment programs and rules for the functioning of special economic zones. At present, the most acute question is car recycling tax, which has led to a trade dispute with the European Union, and may lead to countervailing measures against Russian goods. Considering WTO rules, recommendations on the use of the most effective instruments of foreign policy, aimed at improving the competitiveness of the Russian automotive industry, were made, including the rationalization of import and the attraction of new technologies due to the diversification of customs duties on certain groups of automotive components, lowering income taxes, a gradual decrease of the fiscal functions of the customs tariff; the stability and transparency of the instruments of trade policy and simplification of customs procedures.

With the rapid development and broad-based integration of web-based technologies across domains of communication, marketing, e-Commerce, and training, SMEs can benefit greatly by using these inexpensive tools to their advantage. SMEs typically underutilize opportunities to enhance their efficiencies by using more complex e-Business systems, and in so doing under develop the talents of their workforce for innovation and success. This underutilization is not just because of ignorance of technological capabilities, but also from a lack of exposure to leadership and HR development training. Knowing the need to learn must be a strong foundation before technological development can ensue. This chapter provides a synthesis of research and literature across several related, but seldomly connected fields - including, organizational theory, leadership, adult development and learning, 21st century learning, distance learning and human resource management. In developing this chapter, the authors are attempting to communicate the need for SMEs to both develop leadership and technological program developments to implement the changes needed to compete in a marketplace that reflects rapid change and imperfect information.

Business and industries have faced several changes from the agriculture society to information society. The recent change is due to Information Technology (IT) affecting many businesses and industries. It is changing the nature of business from the traditional way of doing business. The complete change in traditional business is due to IT. This is known as e-business transformation. The Indian manufacturing industry is undergoing this IT-enabled change and is still under process of click and brick system. Indian automobile companies are stressing the importance of e-business in the domestic automotive industry. The main aim of the chapter is to explain how the manufacturing and especially the automobile industry business has changed from traditional brick and mortar business to click and brick e-business. This chapter provides a study of e-business transformation in manufacturing industry in India using Flexible Systems (SAP-LAP) Methodology. With the continuous improvement of living standards, customers are gradually pursuing products which are individualization, entertainment, and scene. The production model of the enterprise has changed from the traditional inventory model to the manufacturing model driven by the customer orders. By analyzing the evolution process of customer to business, we get the overall framework of customer to business based on customer platform-connecting manufactory platform-connecting service. A case study in the automotive industry is introduced, which takes customer to business as the implementation of enterprise strategy. The detailed implementation process is discussed from the four aspects of open and networked demand for personalized customer (C), open and networked manufacturing (M), open and networked service (S), open and networked collaborative platform (P). The objective of this article is to provide general references for enterprises to change from traditional business-to-customer model to open and interconnected customization model by combining the improved customer-to-business framework and its application in automotive industry. The framework we put forward has achieved good results in related customer-to-business projects we participated in. The research results of this article can be used as a reference for enterprises to design, set, and carry out the model of customer to business.
