Foi utilizado o surfactante Agral® (0,0125; 0,025; 0,05; 0,1; 0,2; 0,5%, v/v) e o óleo vegetal Natur’óleo® (0,5; 5, 10, 15 e 17%, v/v), além de uma calda padrão (somente água). Os ensaios foram conduzidos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com cinco repetições. Para todas as concentrações determinou-se a viscosidade, a tensão superficial e a velocidade de gotas geradas pela ponta XR11003 (280 kPa). O espectro e a velocidade de gotas foram determinados por um analisador de partículas, modelo VisiSize Portable P15 (Oxford Lasers, Imaging Division, Oxford, U.K.). O sistema foi programado para determinar a velocidade das gotas em diferentes diâmetros: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 e 350 µm. Correlação de Pearson foi aplicada para verificar a relação entre a velocidade de gotas e a tensão superficial e a viscosidade. Também foram ajustados modelos para os dados de velocidade em função do tamanho de gotas, viscosidade e tensão superficial. Os resultados indicam que a relação da tensão superficial e viscosidade de caldas de adjuvantes dependem do tipo de adjuvante (vegetal ou surfactante). As emulsões formadas por óleo vegetal apresentam relação linear positiva entre concentração e viscosidade e negativa entre concentração e tensão superficial. O surfactante não apresentou relação linear da concentração com a viscosidade e apresentou relação linear negativa com a tensão superficial. A velocidade de gotas tem relação quadrática com o tamanho de gotas, independente dos adjuvantes utilizados (óleo vegetal ou surfactante). As relações de tamanho de gotas com viscosidade e tensão superficial são mais entendidas com gotas maiores que 100 µm.   Palavras-chave: velocidade de gotas, adjuvantes, tamanho de gotas.   VELOCITY OF SPRAY DROPLETS SIZE IN FUNCTION OF THE SURFACE TENSION AND THE VISCOSITY CONTEND VEGETABLE OIL AND SURFACTANT   ABSTRACT: The present work aims to quantify the speed of different sizes of droplets generated by a flat jet tip with extended range and to determine the correlation with surface tension and viscosity of aqueous solutions of surfactant and vegetable oil in different concentrations. The surfactant Agral® (0.0125; 0.025; 0.05; 0.1; 0.2; 0.5%, v / v) and the vegetable oil Natur'óleo® (0.5; 5, 10, 15 and 17%, v / v), in addition to a standard syrup (water only). The tests were conducted in a completely randomized design with five replications. For all concentrations, viscosity and surface tension and droplet speed generated by the XR11003 tip (280 kPa) were determined. The spectrum and velocity of drops were determined by a particle analyzer, model VisiSize Portable P15 (Oxford Lasers, Imaging Division, Oxford, U.K.). The system was programmed to determine the speed of the drops in different diameters: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 µm. Pearson's correlation was applied to verify the relationship between the speed of drops and the surface tension and viscosity. Models were also adjusted for speed data as a function of droplet size, viscosity and surface tension. The results indicate that the relationship between surface tension and viscosity of adjuvant mixtures depends on the type of adjuvant (vegetable or surfactant). Emulsions formed by vegetable oil have a positive linear relationship between concentration and viscosity and a negative relationship between concentration and surface tension. The surfactant showed no linear relationship between concentration and viscosity and showed a negative linear relationship with surface tension. The speed of droplets has a quadratic relationship with the size of droplets, regardless of the adjuvants used (vegetable oil or surfactant). Drop size relationships with viscosity and surface tension are best understood with drops larger than 100 µm.   Keywords: velocity of droplet, adjuvants, viscosity, droplet size.

There is continuing controversy about the optimal or appropriate age at which children should start school. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between age and achievement. It is an attempt to evaluate the hypothesis that older students fare better academically than their younger classmates. Findings indicate that on average for students in elementary school there is positive linear relationship between age and achievement for age normal peers. Even though there is positive linear relationship, the difference in average test scores between the oldest and youngest students is not great and by the time students reach 10th grade the positive linear relationship has disappeared. For overage students there is on average a negative linear relationship between age and achievement at all grade levels. That is, the negative relationship between age and achievement remains constant over time. These results argue against modifying entrance age policies, delaying school entry, implementing transitional kindergarten or first grade programs or retaining students to improve educational achievement. Policies and practices that make students older than their classmates inversely affect their educational achievement.

This paper aims to detect the impact of firm managers’ risk attitude on the relationship between the degree of output market uncertainty and firm investment. The findings show that there is a negative relationship between these two aspects for risk-averse managers while there is a positive relationship for risk-loving ones, since they have different utility functions. Based on the findings, this paper proposes recommendations for firm managers to take into account when making investment decisions and long-term business strategies as well.

The present study was an endeavor to extend the literature of perceived organizational politics by examining its moderating role between the relationship of organizational citizenship behavior and production deviance. Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale (Mackenzie, Podsakoff, & Paine, 1999), Production Deviance sub-scale of Counterproductive Work Behavior Checklist-32 (Spector et al., 2006), and Perception of Organizational Politics Scale (Kacmar & Carlson, 1997) were used in present study. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that low levels of perceived organizational politics moderated the relationship between courtesy and production deviance by strengthening the negative relationship of these behaviors while perceived organizational politics did not act as a moderator for the relationship of civic virtue and conscientiousness with production deviance. High level of go-along-to-get-ahead as a moderator strengthened the relationship of civic virtue and conscientiousness with production deviance and its low level was found to be moderating the relationship between courtesy and production deviance. Future implications of the study were also discussed.

The present study was conducted to examine the relationship between organisational stress and organisational citizenship behaviours (OCBs) in employees of call centers. The study also further explored as how stress at work set-up has negative impact on OCBs. A sample of 250 employees working in call centre of Gurgaon belonging to an age group of 25-30 years were selected on availability basis. All were working married couples living in nuclear families. Job stress survey (Spielberger & Vagg, 1999) and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (Bateman & Organ, 1983) were administered. Data was analysed by using simple correlation and multiple regression. Results showed the negative relationship between organisational stress and OCBs. Results of regression analysis also exhibited the negative impact of stress on OCBs. The implications for the employees are discussed.

Employee turnover has become a key performance indicator for many organizations as they struggle to retain talented employees. The negative impact of turnover on organizational performance has continually forced organizational leaders to seek better ways of retaining valuable employees. The relationship between man and work has always attracted the attention of philosophers. A major part of men’s life is spent at work. Work is social reality and social expectation to which men seem to conform. It not only provides status to the individual but also binds him to the society. An employee who is satisfied with his job would perform his duties well and be committed to his job, and subsequently to his organization. This paper examines relationship among job satisfaction, organizational commitment and employees’ turnover intentions at Unilever Corporation in Nigeria. The data for this study was collected from 117 employees currently working at Unilever Nigeria PLC using the survey method via the questionnaire. Pearson Correlation and the multiple regression analysis techniques using the SPSS version 22.0 was used for the data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that both job satisfaction and organizational commitment have significant negative relationship with employee turnover intentions. In addition, organizational commitment was revealed to have a more dorminant influence on employee turnover intentions than job satisfaction. Based on these findings, the implications, recommendations, practice, and theory were discussed.

This paper examines the relationship between NPA announcements by banks and the impulsive movement in stock price brought out by these announcements. Primary focus of this study is to determine whether we can create a swing trading model based on back testing the data for the banking stocks listed on the Indian bourses.To achieve this objective we created a databasespanning ten years (2006 to 2016) and collected the daily share prices of eight banks listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The relationship between share price and changes in NPA is studied on the basis of correlation studies and panel-data analysis. Although correlation studies does not establish any significant relationship, but the result of panel-data analysis clearly shows a negative relationship between the two. The result is further utilized to develop swing trading model and get benefit out of it. The novelty of the present study is that it clearly guides the swing traders as to how to earn benefit because of fluctuations in share price due to announce of NPA result.

We find a negative relationship between aggregate CSR scores and the probability that firms restated financial statements over the period 1991-2012. We then break that period into three sub-periods in order to determine whether the relationship holds for all three sub-periods. During the sub-periods of 1991-2001 and 2002-2005, the negative CSR score - restatement probability relationship holds. The negative relationship disappears in the 2006-2012 sub-period. Additional analyses indicate CSR scores are significantly higher in the 2006-2012 sub-period, suggesting the disappearance of the relationship between aggregate CSR scores and financial statement quality may relate to changes in CSR assessments and the CSR reporting environment. Our findings update the literature linking CSR scores and financial reporting quality and identify the need for further research as to the reasons the link between these constructs disappeared.

The present study examined attachment to God and quest as potential moderators of the relationship between religious doubt and mental health. A sample of Christian participants ( N = 235) completed a survey which included measures of attachment to God, quest, religious doubt, and mental health. As hypothesized, attachment to God and quest significantly moderated an individual’s experience of religious doubt. Low avoidant attachment to God (i.e., a more secure attachment) was associated with a more negative relationship between cognitive religious doubt and positive mental health than high avoidant attachment. In contrast, low avoidant attachment to God also ameliorated the positive relationship between affective religious doubt and mental health problems. Low anxious attachment was associated with a stronger negative relationship between both measures of religious doubt (i.e., cognitive and affective) and positive mental health. In addition, high soft quest weakened all four of the relationships between measures of religious doubt and mental health. High hard quest ameliorated the positive relationship between both measures of religious doubt and mental health problems. These results indicate that an individual’s attachment to God and the way an individual is oriented toward religion each play a role in the mental health outcomes associated with religious doubt.

AbstractSurface tension of solid wood surfaces affects the wettability and thus the adhesion of various adhesives and wood coatings. By measuring the contact angle of the wood, the surface tension can be calculated based on the Young-Dupré equation. Several publications have reported on contact angle measured with different test liquids, under different conditions. Results can only be compared if the test conditions are similar. While the roles of the drop volume, image shooting time etc., are widely recognized, the role of the wood surface moisture content (MC) is not evaluated in detail. In this study, the effect of wood moisture content on contact angle values, measured with distilled water and diiodomethane, on sanded birch (Betula pendula) surfaces was investigated, in order to find the relationship between them. With increasing MC from approximately 6% to 30%, increasing contact angle (decreasing surface tension) values were measured according to a logarithmic function. The function makes possible the calculation of contact angles that correspond to different MCs.
