Universities and education are important factors that need to be taken very seriously as the pro-cess will produce useful human resources to create useful progress for the community. The 8th Habits Method is one of the most proven methods to apply at the University level, especially to lecturers and students. Applying The 8th Habits Method is a big challenge that deserves to be accepted because it will result in the discovery of the purpose of life or the sound (meaning) of self as we know that there are many students (millennial generation) who do not have it and this may also happen to the lecturer. Dr Maggie Gilewicz in her book entitles Why Young Adults Don’t Know What to Do With Their Lives And What Can Be Done About It? argues that students and young adults do not know how they spend their life time because nothing can encourage them and no support from the environment (Gilewicz, 2017). On the other hand, parents focus on build-ing the millennial children’ self-esteem and always protect them from disappointments (Vance and Stephens, 2010). This paper offers some hypothesis and its application to the lecturers and students because both cannot be separated and should work in synergy to achieve The 8th Habits. Internal and external influences are also things that need to be examined and responded positively as these are two factors that can be one of the inhibiting factors in applying The 8th Habits-Covey trust systems. Finally, it is important that lecturers and students keep learning to be able to think and be positive, creative and flexible to be able to apply The 8th Habits-covey trust systems. Dr Maggie Gilewicz dalam bukunya yang berjudul Why Young Adults Don’t Know What to Do With Their Lives And What Can Be Done About It? berpendapat bahwa maha-siswa dan remaja dewasa tidak mengetahui bagaimana mereka akan menghabiskan masa hidup mereka karena tidak ada yang mendukung mereka termasuk dukungan dari lingkungan (Gilewicz, 2017).

I was fortunate to work with/for Dr Britton Chance as his postdoctoral fellow, in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Department at the University of Pennsylvania, between August 1991 and January 1994. As anyone who worked for him, I had a sufficient dosage of "Britton Chance" over the years. Initially, to me, I felt that he was someone who was above regular people and far away to reach. Then I became to know him as a person, who was simple and complicated at the same time, with a persistent pursuit for his life interests, i.e., the advancement in science related to human health. As far as it goes to science (and perhaps with sailing), he had few boundary: He communicated with any age group, any one from any country with any cultural background. Any scientists were welcomed to his lab, his own house, and even his boat. He was happy with minimal material things. He kept his friendship faithfully. From him, I came to know how much one person can actually do during a life time. I am very grateful that I got to know him during my life path. In this paper, I list some of my experiences with him scientifically and also how and what I learned from him impacted my research and personal life.

Nowadays, universities in many countries are encouraged to take their research products to the next level by translating them into commercialized products to benefit society at large. In doing so, they establish a firm, a so-called University Spin-Off (USO), which specializes in carrying out the mission. A USO is a firm which is established to optimize or commercialize the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) of the university. Previous studies into USOs, documented in the extant literature, have mainly focused on investigating the initial process of the USOs’ establishment, such as the drivers to initiate the USOs. Only a little attention has been paid to investigate the various drivers affecting the development of the USOs. Studies into the survivability of USOs are relatively limited. The current study is intended to fill this gap. Additionally, the findings are expected to add to the existing literature on USOs, particularly in the context of developing countries. This study aims at identifying the factors affecting the USOs’ survival. We used the resource-based view and contingency theory to identify and understand the various factors (internal and external) that might affect a USO’s survivability. Data for this study were collected through a survey. From the literature, we identified ten relevant factors for a USO’s survivability and 41 items to operationalize them, which we then used to develop a questionnaire. The factors are the USO’s business orientation, human resources’ reputation, product innovation, business plan, business models’ innovation, social networks, export activities, capital access, government support, and the business’s incubator. The data were collected from 111 USOs established by 14 universities located in five big cities in Indonesia. The survey was conducted from February until May 2017. Before performing the regression analysis, we deployed a factor analysis to validate the instruments and found that all the 41 items were valid and fell into ten component factors. The analysis found that there were only two factors which significantly affected the USO’s survivability: Its human resources’ reputation and social networks. These findings lead us to a conclusion that building a good reputation and maintaining its social networks are very important to ensure the survivability of a USO.

In this commentary Dr. Giever presents a compelling argument for interdisciplinary programs in cybersecurity at the university level. He argues that we no longer have the luxury of allowing barriers to exist between those tasked with IT security and those who provide physical security. He recommends that any security program take an “all possible paths” or “balanced approach” to the protection of assets within an organization. Students in computer science, criminal justice, business, human resources, and others should work collaboratively within education programs learning these necessary skills. A team effort is needed to accomplish the myriad of tasks necessary to protect assets today. Graduates from such programs will possess the skills and abilities to work collaboratively on a comprehensive security design for their organization.

The University is one of the most important pillars of a State. Therefore, the university should be able to produce high-quality human resources and can contribute greatly to the progress of a country in various sectors. High-quality human resources will be able to change the culture of a region, a city and even a country toward a better future, not only in certain sectors but almost all sectors. The main problem in the university, the lecturer is not placed in the right position and still lack of experience possessed by the lecturer, in terms of experience with the subjects taught. This will be answered by using the concept held by Disneyland and this concept developed into a formula L = D3.B. The formula, we created will help in the development of human resources at the university level, with the focus being lecturers and students. furthermore, this formula will greatly assist the university to be able to accept lecturers who have the competence and guide the students to achieve the maximum in themselves, all these things will be able to improve the living standard of the people's economy, with high-quality human resources, it will be able to there is a significant change in the life process, in the future.

Abstract. Background: Self-esteem is a major contributor to risk for repeated suicide attempts. Prior research has shown that awareness of stigma is associated with reduced self-esteem among people with mental illness. No prior studies have examined the association between self-esteem and stereotype awareness among individuals with past suicide attempts. Aims: To understand the relationship between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among young adults who have and have not attempted suicide. Method: Computerized surveys were administered to college students (N = 637). Linear regression analyses were used to test associations between self-esteem and stereotype awareness, attempt history, and their interaction. Results: There was a significant stereotype awareness by attempt interaction (β = –.74, p = .006) in the regression analysis. The interaction was explained by a stronger negative association between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among individuals with past suicide attempts (β = –.50, p = .013) compared with those without attempts (β = –.09, p = .037). Conclusion: Stigma is associated with lower self-esteem within this high-functioning sample of young adults with histories of suicide attempts. Alleviating the impact of stigma at the individual (clinical) or community (public health) levels may improve self-esteem among this high-risk population, which could potentially influence subsequent suicide risk.
