The effect of social media in improving students’ writing skill is investigated in this paper, which can be used to improve students’ creativity in writing. This paper takes covering of second semester English education students of Universitas Negeri Medan that study written language skills. The method used in this research is the development research aims to produce written language skills learning materials using social media (instagram, facebook & whatsapp). Its intention to answer the students’ need of the innovated material and to find out the level of students creativity after using such materials. Further, this paper gives a simpler and practical method to develop learning material using social media to improve students’ creativity in writing.

This study was aimed to develop humanitarian project-based material for productive written language skills subject for English Education Study Program at UNIMED. Research and Development (R&D) was the design of this study with the subjects of the study were 25 students of first semester students of English Education Study Program at UNIMED. The research procedures were adapted from Borg and Gall’s research theory (1983) namely 1)gathering data and information, 2)need analysis, 3)designing course material, 4)validating and evaluating new course material by the Experts, 5)revising the course material and 6)final product. The instruments of collecting the data were questionnaire, interview and expert judgement questionnaire. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.. Based on the result of the expert judgement, the whole aspects of developed materials were in the range of 81-100% and were categorized as “very good”.

Anxiety has been a matter of substantial concern in foreign language (FL) learning setting for educators since it is a major obstacle learners need to overcome (Ellis, 2008; Wu, 2010).This study was aimed at finding out students’ language anxiety in learning the four language skills at a university level in English as a FL context. The participants were 71 students of the English education Department of Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Data was collected by administering a set of questionnaire. To support the data, interview was conducted to some of the respondents. Findings showed that the majority of the students were more anxious on writing skill, followed by reading, speaking and listening in their language learning process. It is highly recommended that the teachers or faculties be more creative in making the language skills classes atmosphere more fun and relaxing so that the students could achieve higher learning results. Abstract: This study aims to explain the digital quiz to review learning material. Material Development is a subject that is reviewed by the student and the review done through Quizalize. A digital quiz which is so user friendly and quick interesting. The participants of this research are sixteen students of English Education Department, from University of Technology Yogyakarta. The researchers used qualitative descriptive to analyze the data. Qualitative data are obtained from quiz that has been completed by the students. The result of this study shows that the display of the quiz is interesting, Quizalize provides analysis for each questions, Quizalize also shows the result for each student, grouped students into categories based on their score. The researchers recommend Quizalize as digital quiz that can be used by the teacher to review the material.Keywords: digital quiz, review, material development, quizalize

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) the social media which is the most frequently used by the English Education Study Program students, (2) the correlation between the use of social media and academic writing mastery of the students, and (3) the contribution between the use of social media and academic writing mastery of the students. Thirty five students were chosen as the sample by using purposive sampling method. The data were collected through questionnaire and documentation. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to analyze the obtained data. The result showed that there was a significant correlation between the use of social media and academic writing mastery of students of English education study program (

This development research developed one of the learning media needed during the Covid 19 pandemic, namely an electronic module which is the development of a module that is easier to use, easy to carry, concise and practical by lecturers and students. The module for Elementary School Indonesian Language and Literature Skills for PGSD students was developed so that students can better apply the language skills learning aspects of listening in their ability to synthesize. The research method used 10 steps of Borg and Gall's development research grouped into 4 procedures. The four procedures are. (1) Initial research (2) Product Development, (3) Product testing and revision, and (4) final stage. The data is obtained by analyzing the ratings by users, material experts, and media experts. The result obtained is that the feasibility value by the experts reaches a value of 90% from material experts and 89% from media experts with very valid criteria and is achieved in the second stage. Student response is very good with a score of 74.14%. Pre test results are? and the post test results after using the product being developed are 22,5%. The use of e-modules for learning is proven to improve students' listening skills and shows that this language skills learning module is feasible to use.

Many factors influence the success of learning Arabic for non-native speakers. One of the textbooks is the Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik book. Darul Lughah Al-Arabiyyah Banda Aceh uses this book in learning four language skills and their elements with a communicative approach. This research focuses on learning Arabic using the “Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik” in Darul Lughah Al-Arabiyyah Banda Aceh. This research is descriptive, where the data is collected through interview and documentation. The resource persons in this study were the Director and one of the teachers at Darul Lughah Al-Arabiyyah Banda Aceh. The result shows that: The process Arabic teaching learning uses direct methods, where the teacher and students communication in Arabic, again the teacher encourages students to be involved in the Arabic learning process. In addition, The teacher is in use himself to speak Arabic with the student outside the classroom. The teacher explains the Arabic language skills learning material and its elements well and uses many exercises to master the materials being studied.

The purpose of this study is to describe the mastery of Indonesian language skills learning material of Indonesian Language Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Bengkulu University in 2016. The specific purpose of this research is to describe the mastery of learning material of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills student of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program FKIP UNIB. The method used in this research is quantitative research method. Based on the results of the study, its noted that the mastery of learning materials of Indonesian Language Skills on Undergraduate Studies Program Language and Literature Indonesia FKIP UNIB is still relatively low. The results showed that students who have a very good understanding of the category of learning skills of Indonesian language is only 10% of the overall research object. Students who have a good understanding of the category of learning skills of Indonesian language skills as much as 24%. The number of students who have sufficient mastery of the subject matter of Indonesian language skills occupies the dominant percentage with 45%. Students in the category have less mastery of Indonesian language skills learning materials as much as 16%. While 5% of students fall into the category of having knowledge that is still less once for learning materials Indonesian skills. Students should have a better mastery of learning materials in Indonesian language skills as a basic capital to teach Indonesian subjects, especially at junior and senior high schools. Therefore in the future it is expected to do more effective learning process improvement related to Indonesian language skills learning materials, so that students' mastery of learning materials of Indonesian language skills will be better. Keywords: mastery, learning materials, speech skills

Abstract. With skyrocketing development of online learning due to the Covid-19 outbreak, pronunciation classroom is one of the evidences that was quite affected by this pandemic situation. The controversial mindset, that this lesson needs literally face-to-face practices since they relate to organ speech's output, leads the authors into this investigation. This paper was aimed at finding out students' response toward the implementation of blended learning in pronunciation classrooms. The research design was descriptive quantitative with the population of 176 fourth semester students of English Education Department of Universitas PGRI Semarang in the academic year of 2019/2020, and 28 students coming from 4A to 4D were taken as the sample. The data were collected online through Google Form using a perception questionnaire and confirmed by phone call interview preceded by classroom observation. The data from the questionnaire were then analyzed quantitatively to determine the level of students' perception supported by descriptive data from the interviews. The results indicated that students' perception toward blended learning in the Pronunciation classroom was in the level of intermediate. Additionally, the interview revealed that the students were satisfied with blended learning implementation in Pronunciation classroom. They preferred online classes which were balanced in terms of assignment-giving and learning material. Too many assignments with fewer materials only burden the students. Therefore, the lecturers were suggested to consider their ability in handling the class, which also interests students in engaging the online classes more.Keywords: blended learning; pronunciation, higher education, students' perceptionAbstrak. Pesatnya perkembangan pembelajaran online akibat dari wabah Covid, kelas pronunciation sebagai salah satu bukti yang cukup terpengaruh oleh situasi pandemi ini. Pola pikir kontroversi, bahwa pelajaran pronunciation benar-benar membutuhkan praktik tatap muka karena berkaitan dengan luaran speech organs, sehingga mengarahkan peneliti ke permasalahan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons mahasiswa terhadap penerapan blended learning di kelas pronunciation. Desain penelitian adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi 176 mahasiswa semester IV Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas PGRI Semarang tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dan diambil sampel 28 mahasiswa dari 4A sampai 4D. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara online melalui google form menggunakan kuesioner persepsi dan dikonfirmasi dengan wawancara melalui telepon yang didahului dengan observasi kelas. Data dari kuesioner dianalisis secara kuantitatf didukung oleh data interview yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa persepsi mahasiswa terhadap blended learning di kelas pronunciation berada pada level intermediate. Selain itu, hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa merasa puas dengan penerapan blended learning di kelas pronunciation. Mereka lebih menyukai kelas online yang seimbang dalam hal pemberian tugas dan materi pembelajaran. Terlalu banyak tugas dengan materi yang lebih sedikit hanya akan membebani mahasiswa. Oleh karena itu, para dosen disarankan untuk mempertimbangkan kemampuannya dalam menangani perkuliahan yang juga menarik minat mahasiswa untuk lebih banyak terlibat dalam kelas online.   Kata kunci: blended learning; pronunciation, pendidikan tinggi, persepsi mahasiswa

ABSTRACTWriting is one of the language skills that should be mastered by students of English as a foreign language (EFL). In order to write well, EFL students should understand the content of their writing. They should also be able to discover some writing errors they may have. Therefore, it is necessary for the students to practice writing frequently and to be willing to review their writing products. This study aimed to develop EFL students’ writing skill through self-assessment integrated with e-portfolio. It used action research design and it was conducted in a classroom consisting of 25 ten graders of Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri) at Sumenep, East Java. The findings showed that the students’ writing skill could be improved after the implementation of self-assessment integrated with e-portfolio. It is suggested that EFL teachers consider using self-assessment integrated with students’ e-portfolio to help improve EFL students’ writing skill.ABSTRAKMenulis merupakan kemampuan berbahasa yang harus dimiliki oleh pelajar bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing (EFL). Dalam mengembangkan kemampuan menulis, pelajar dituntut untuk mengerti isi tulisan mereka dan mampu menemukan kesalahan-kesalahan yang mungkin terdapat dalam tulisan mereka. Maka dari itu, pelajar dipandang perlu untuk sesering mungkin melatih kemampuan menulis, mengulas kembali dan merevisi karya mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan menulis siswa menggunakan self-assessment melalui elektronik portofolio. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan subjek 25 siswa kelas X MAN Sumenep, Jawa Timur. Penemuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis siswa membaik setelah penerapan self-assessment melalui elektorinik portofolio. Dengan demikian, guru bahasa Inggris disarankan untuk mempertimbangkan penerapan sefl-assessment melalui elektronik portfolio siswa untuk mengembangkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Teaching writing skill is one form of teaching language skills that must be mastered by students. One of the important writing activities carried out by students in school is the skill of drama scripts writing. However, in learning material for writing scripts, there were still many students learning outcomes that did not meet the KKM. The weakness of students in writing drama scripts was caused by various factors, such as the technique or approach used by the teacher was not appropriate and the learning materials provided were inadequate for students. So that the aim of the study was to produce a problem-based module in the learning of drama scripts writing. Further, the research subjects were eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Siak Hulu amounting 36 students. The results of this study were valid, practical, and effective problem-based modules for eighth-grade students for learning drama scripts writing. It was also evidenced by the value of module validity of 91.41% with very valid criteria. The module practicality value was 83.82% with very practical criteria, while module practicality by students was 78.27% with practical criteria. Additionally, the effectiveness of the module consists of students’ evaluating the overall activity was 88.33% with very high criteria or very successful. On the other hand, the overall assessment of drama script writing was 84.04 with good qualifications.
