Emotions and breathing are closely linked in a complex feedback loop. Understanding this interrelationship between breathing and emotions is critical to better understanding how to deal with anxiety, stress, depression, and emotional disturbances. During emotional attacks and anxious states, the autonomic nervous system triggers physiological variables such as heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, hormonal secretions, palpitations, gastrointestinal functions suddenly increase as a result of which the normal social and behavioral functions of the individual are disturbed. It is generally believed that deep breathing, practiced with various techniques, such as qigong and yoga, can promote relaxation. Source searches were carried out on the online portal of journal publications as many as 10 sources from Medscape, Google Scholar, National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) with the keywords anxiety, relaxation, and deep breathing. Deep breathing relaxation has been shown to be effective in reducing the perception and symptoms of anxiety. Deep breathing offers several advantages over conventional therapies currently used to treat anxiety problems. These advantages include a non-pharmacological approach, safety, minimal space requirements, ease of learning, and ease of practice.

The study in this research is aimed to see the description of anxiety on teacher candidates based on direct experiences encountered during the teaching practice at school. Many factors causing a teacher candidate to experience anxiety, including cognitive domain, somatic domain, and pedagogic domain factors. This study used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach. Subject used in the study were selected by using the purposive sampling technique, in which teacher candidates are those who have passed the micro-teaching prerequisite subject. The reflection analysis results of teachers candidates indicate that they experienced anxiety during their initial activities at school. Teacher candidates lost the feeling as the time passed and when they have adapted to the environment and condition of students. Some discovered reasons have caused anxiety on teacher candidates when they conduct direct teaching practices in class, such as getting anxious about not being able to deliver materials properly according to the pre-made plans in the learning implementation plan (PPL) and getting anxious about not being able to be a good teacher. Reflection results provide an illustration of how the correlation among psychological factors also needs to be considered in preparing teacher candidates who are ready to directly implement learning in class. This condition indicates the need for in-depth and comprehensive studies regarding psychological factors, and can be made as the evaluation material for education providers of teacher candidate to put their attention on this matter. Abstract- This study aims to determine the level and factors that cause student anxiety during the Covid-19 pandemic. Respondents in this study were 1.013 students from five universities in three provinces in Indonesia, i.e., Lampung, Special Region of Yogyakarta, and South Sulawesi. The data were collected from 24th to 29th of April 2020. The data were obtained using a Covid-19 anxiety survey and a questionnaire about the factors causing student anxiety, which were distributed by utilizing google form. The results indicated that there were 222 students at a high and very high anxiety level with physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms. Student anxiety was triggered by two main factors, i.e., social limitation and coursework. To reduce their anxiety, the majority of respondents chose a religious approach rather than a cultural approach. Recommendations are given to counselors to include religiosity values in helping student anxiety. The university is also expected to be able to support students by providing internet quota assistance, organizing online lectures on an asynchronous model and allowing longer deadline for submission of coursework.
