Background: Proportionality is a paramount topic in students' mathematical literacy. In this topic, it is fundamental to understand the multiplicative comparison and the flexible use of the concepts of ratio and proportion. Objectives: To analyse the articulation between concepts, resolution strategies, and representations used by students, supported by numerical relationships and properties of operations to characterise a model of the conceptual evolution of multiplicative comparison. Design: Research based design. Setting and participants: Two mathematics teachers teaching 6th grade (11-12-year-old students) and their 38 (18 + 20) students during the lessons in which five assignments were explored. Data collection and analysis: The data includes the transcription of the video recordings of the classes and the students' written productions. The data were successively revisited and condensed to identify and illustrate the aspects that make up the model of the conceptual evolution of multiplicative comparison. Results: The construction of the concept of multiplicative comparison prevails in the work in two spaces of measurement and in the exploration of the multiplicative relationship between the corresponding quantities within each one. Resolution strategies are first non-quantitative and become quantitative, initially with additive and then multiplicative characteristics. The representations are based on the ratio as a fraction, on the double number line, and on the table of ratios, being supported by numerical relationships and properties of operations. Conclusions: The results elucidate, adjust, and illustrate a theoretical model related to the evolution of the multiplicative comparison in two spaces of measurement.

The implementation of the revised edition of the Curriculum of 2013 in Indonesia for millennial generation students does not focus on increasing the competency of the subjects only, but rather on improving the character, especially independence. This research is based on the issue of whether there is a significant relationship between teaching materials based on ETG (Educational Technology Gadget) on improving the competence of students' IBC and English as well as differences in student achievement in English subjects taught on an ETG basis when compared with non-ETG. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to investigate and examine whether there is a significant relationship between ETG-based teaching materials on improving the competence of IBC and English students and to find out whether there are differences in student achievement in English subjects taught with ETG-based if compared to non ETG ones. The research method is R&D with a type of factorial design research sourced from quantitative experiments. Beyond literature studies, curriculum analysis, and surveys, research starts from pre-test, treatment, post-test, data collection and analysis which are then concluded as indicators of performance. Keywords: Character, Millenial Generation, IBC, English, ETG

The number line and the neutralization model have been used very extensively in teaching integer additions and subtractions for decades. Despite their advantages, issues concerning subtractions on these models are still debatable. Therefore, the neutralization on an empty number line (NNL) model is proposed in this research to help students better understand the meaning of integer subtractions as well as additions. This report is a part of a design research study conducted in a classroom of 28 elementary school students at the fifth grade. Data were gathered by collecting students’ written work, conducting interviews and observations during the teaching experiment. This paper focuses on students’ perceptions of the NNL model and what factors that might contribute to students’ achievements in understanding integer additions and subtractions. The analysis revealed that most students overemphasized on the use of the NNL model as a procedural method instead of as a model for thinking. Moreover, students’ mathematical beliefs and conceptions on the use of the column strategy and the absence of a discussion on the need of using the model are found to be some factors that could cause students’ misunderstandings. However, with a thorough planning, the NNL model has a potential to help students developing a meaning of integer additions and subtractions.

This study was aimed at describing the student’ learning progress on decimals addition by a set of learning activitis based on Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education. This research  method is design research which contain three stages, namely: preliminary design, design experiment and retrospective analysis. Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) has been designed to play an important role as learning design and research instrument. HLT was tested to 30 fourth grade students. The data were collected through interview, observation, and field notes. The findings of the research  showed that this instructional design could stimulate students  in the introduction of one digit decimal through the result of weight measurement, the use of the model that the students make themselves (model of) to describe the measurement results at the second level, and marking the result of the measurement to the number line and continued by describing the process of decimals addition from the measurement activity to the number line in the more formal level. Furthermore at the formal level, students are able to solve the problem of the decimals addition using the correct procedure that is the place value rule.

Qualitative research is part of the Information Design universe. The Sense-Making Methodology by Brenda Dervin is interesting to be used in Information Design research, since it proposes method and techniques for data collection and analysis. The purpose of this article is to present and exemplify an application of the Micro-Moment Timeline Interview and a SMM Triangulation in the use of the Sense-Making Methodology as a qualitative approach to Information Design research. Fundamentals of the Meaning-Making Methodology are given, and the application of a Micro-Moment Timing Interview and a SMM Triangulation are exemplified through a study on the use of medications by elderly. Such application allowed a better understanding of the assumptions of this methodology, as well as presented elements that are qualified to be used in Information Design research.

Solve a math problem using a context is a way that can be done by student to help them use their mathematics skills in everyday life. In addition problem using context will facilitate students in modeling the mathematics in context, so that will help the student to use their literacy skills in answering problem, and can challenge students' mathematical thinking patterns. The purpose of this study was to Generate PISA math models using context Lampung valid and practical. This research method is a type of research design development study. Subjects in this study were students of class IX SMP Ar-raihan Bandar Lampung and SMP YadikaNatar Lampung which has aged up to 15 years. The result of this study was 15 items PISA uses Lampung context of a valid and practical and have a potential effect on students' mathematical literacy skills.

Context: This article presents the excerpt of a qualitative Doctorate in Science and Mathematics Teaching research. Objectives: To describe the results of a study carried out with students from an initial teacher training course. Design: From the development of a didactic sequence, a connection was sought between the ideas of Financial Education anchored by Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Environment and participants: The study was conducted with 11 students from a Pedagogy course at a Brazilian university. Data collection and analysis: The data were collected through written records of the activities performed by the students, the observations of the classes, and the audio and video recordings. The methodology of analysis was defined considering the procedures of Content Analysis, using the modality of thematic analysis that occurs in three phases: pre-analysis, exploration of the material and treatment of the results. Results: The discussions of the problem situations developed according to the principles of RME, aroused in the students interest, curiosity, autonomy, cooperation and reflection on financial situations, showing that this approach contributed in a significant way, with the development of the didactic sequence. Conclusions: This study shows that by teaching mathematics from everyday contexts, several benefits can be achieved, such as motivation and interest to learn mathematics, and by understanding mathematical concepts, students will be able to use them for the organization of their financial life, and in a conscious, responsible and autonomous way, improve their quality of life.
