In the article, the authors propose the application of a one-dimensional problem of the theory of compression compaction of soils for the calculation of sediments of Foundation slabs of large area. The authors analyzed the existing methods for determining the depth of the compressible thickness. The author suggests an original technique to determine the depth of compressible strata and settling of the Foundation. A test bench (tray) was developed and a laboratory test was performed. The results of an experimental study of the depth of compressible thickness under slab foundations are presented. The analysis of experimental data is made. The method of calculation of compressible thickness depth, previously proposed by the authors, is confirmed.

This paper presents a virtual model of a scroll compressor developed on the one-dimensional analysis software Simcenter Amesim®. The model is semi-empirical: it needs some physical details of the modelled machine (e.g., the cubic capacity), but, on the other hand, it does not require the geometrical features of the spirals, so it needs experimental data to calibrate it. The model also requires rotational speed and the outlet temperature as boundary conditions. The model predicts the power consumption and the mass flow rate and considers leakages and mechanical losses. After the model presentation, this paper describes the test bench and the obtained data used to calibrate and validate the model. At last, the calibration process is described, and the results are discussed. The calculated values fit the experimental data also in extrapolation, despite the model is simple and performs calculations within 7 s. Due to these characteristics, the model is suitable for being used in a larger model as a sub-component.

Heat transporting characteristics are investigated experimentally for a heat transport device using a temperature-sensitive magnetic fluid. In the present study, in particular the regenerative thermomagnetic heat cycle is considered by allowing heat conduction in the inner pipe wall of the device. According to the heat transport configuration studied, the lower end of the device is heated while the upper end is cooled isothermally when the device is placed vertically. Experimental results show that a relatively high amount of heat can be transported in comparison with the case of an adiabatic inner pipe wall, indicating that the thermomagnetic heat cycle in the device is improved. The correlation obtained from one-dimensional analysis provides a reasonable means of assessing estimating experimental data when the thermomagnetic heat cycle based on the working principle is satisfied.

The article deals with the flow in a complex area. The composition of this region consists of a porous medium through the pores of which the liquid moves and a zone without a porous framework (free zone). The flow is modeled using an interpenetrating heterogeneous model. In the one-dimensional case, an analytical solution is obtained. This solution is compared with the solution learned by the move node method. An analysis is made with experimental data with a Brinkman layer. A numerical solution of a two-dimensional problem is also obtained.

In the work brought some experimental data of kinematic parameters of movement of cars forced idle, as the software product was used to diagnose 900 ATS, which recorded kinematic parameters of vehicle. On the basis of the conducted experimental research results are shown tabulated and analysed.

Numerical investigation of efficiency of UNO- and TVD-modifications of the Godunov method of the second order accuracy for computation of linear waves in an elastic body in comparison with the classical Godunov method is carried out. To this end, one-dimensional cylindrical Riemann problems are considered. It is shown that the both modifications are considerably more accurate in describing radially converging as well as diverging longitudinal and shear waves and contact discontinuities both in one- and two-dimensional problem statements. At that the UNO-modification is more preferable than the TVD-modification because exact implementation of the TVD property in the TVD-modification is reached at the expense of “cutting” solution extrema.

A one-dimensional, steady-state, constant temperature model of diffusion and absorption of CO2 in the intercellular air spaces of a leaf is presented. The model includes two geometrically distinct regions of the leaf interior, corresponding to palisade and spongy mesophyll tissue, respectively. Sun, shade, and intermediate light leaves are modeled by varying the thicknesses of these two regions. Values of the geometric model parameters are obtained by comparing geometric properties of the model with experimental data of other investigators found from dissection of real leaves. The model provides a quantitative estimate of the extent to which the concentration of gaseous CO2 varies locally within the leaf interior.

This paper studies problematic of a mechanical system composed of different coupled parts submitted to a high speed shock and proposes analysis of anti vibratory passive and active methods based on an experimental and theoretical coupled approach. After a shock, different parts of the system oscillate. If one of them is excited at a particular frequency, such as its proper frequency, important oscillations appear and can lead to the deterioration of the system by introducing important stresses. In this paper, we propose an analysis in order to understand this kind of problem and what we can do to avoid it. Firstly, we discuss problematic and we expose the studied system. In a second time, we develop two approaches of modeling that allow us to understand the phenomenon by carrying out numerical simulations. Then cross checking of model is completed via experimental study on drop test bench. Passive minimization method of vibrations based on experimental and theoretical coupled approach is exposed. Finally, a comparative analysis of different methods of control and experimental results of controlled system are presented.

ABSTRACTThe aim of this work is to provide the basis for the interpretation of the steady state lateral photoeffect observed in p-i-n a-Si:H ID Thin Film Position Sensitive Detectors (ID TFPSD). The experimental data recorded in ID TFPSD devices with different performances are compared with the predicted curves and the obtained correlation's discussed.
