The article analyzes basic scientific approaches to the interpretation of the terms of «linguoculturology», «linguistic conceptology» and «linguistic concept». We consider the relationship of language and culture, and the role of the term «concept» in this regard. In the article we structured the term «concept» from a linguocultural point of view. These theoretical considerations are the basis for the study of ways and mean of forming a conceptual image of Kyiv Rus in the French medieval linguistic cultural picture of the world. The aim of this article is to examine the influence of the country’s image on shaping the bilateral relations between Ukraine and France in a linguocultural conceptual aspect. The article reveals the main semantic and linguoconceptual aspects of medieval French culture. It shows the links between historical and actual aspects of the conceptual sphere in the formation of public opinion in contemporary international relations. Despite the increasing interest of the scholars in the influence that the image of country may have on bilateral relations, this topic has been under‐researched. This article presents the author’s insights based on theoretical and empirical studies that could shed some new light on this important topic. By looking at the «linguocultural» aspect of the relationship between Kyiv Rus and France in the Medieval times the article gives a basic analysis of the process of country image formation since the tenth century and its impact on present times. The article also provides a basis for further linguistic research of this topic.

Abstract China’s new Charity Law represents the culmination of over a decade of planning for the appropriate development of the productive forces of the charity sector in aid of socialist modernization. Together with the related Foreign ngo Management Law, it represents an important advance in the organization of the civil society sector within emerging structures of Socialist Rule of Law principles. While both Charity and Foreign ngo Management Laws could profitably be considered as parts of a whole, each merits discussion for its own unique contribution to national development. Moreover, while analysis tends to focus on legal conformity of the Charity Law to the state constitution, little work has been done to analyze the relationship of the Charity Law to the political constitution of China. This essay seeks to fill that gap by considering the role of the Charity Law through the lens of the Constitution of the Communist Party of China. More specifically, the essay examines the extent to which the provisions of the Charity Law, and its underlying policies, contribute to the implementation and realization of the Chinese Communist Party (ccp) Basic Line and in the context of the overall political policy of “socialist modernization which has served as the core of the political line of the ccp since the last decades of the 20th century. The essay is organized as follows: Section ii considers the specific provisions of the Charity Law, with some reference to changes between the first draft and the final version of the Charity Law. Section iii then considers some of the more theoretical considerations that suggest a framework for understanding the great contribution of the Charity Law as well as the challenges that remain for the development of the productive forces of the civil society sector at this historical stage of China’s development.

In this paper, we review systematically the role of problem-based learning (PBL) in developing soft skills in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and other fields of studies. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) includes the most recent empirical, review, and conceptual studies from TVET and other multiple fields of studies including medicine, humanities, and engineering between the years of 2001 and 2016 collected from four databases. A qualitative method was used to accomplish the systematic review. After the collection of articles, the selected studies were analyzed through thematic analysis. From this review, we concluded that PBL as an instructional approach has a significant role in the development of soft skills among students of various disciplines including TVET; empirical evidence is predominantly conclusive in identifying the acquisitions of various soft skills including communication skills, conflict resolution skills, leadership skills, and interpersonal skills, and finally, several factors might influence the relationship of PBL and soft skills such as duration and process of PBL instruction, role of facilitator, and awareness and training of learners. Moreover, there are fewer number of empirical studies on the role and effects of PBL approach to developing soft skills in TVET.

Ethical leadership is purported to foster employees' extrarole behaviors; however, there have been few empirical studies conducted to verify this effect. Therefore, we examined the relationship between ethical leadership and employees' voice behavior, and the mediating roles of both supervisor and organizational forms of trust in this relationship. Participants were 205 university teachers from 15 universities in China. The results show that ethical leadership positively predicted university teachers' use of voice. Moreover, the relationship of ethical leadership with university teachers' voice behavior was mediated by both supervisor trust and organizational trust. These findings expand the literature on ethical leadership and voice behavior and provide meaningful guidance for managers to encourage employees to make suggestions about ways to improve existing work processes.

Although sad films elicit states of sadness and cause onlookers to mourn beloved characters, these media offerings also lead to enjoyment. This paradoxical situation challenges both theoretical approaches and empirical studies in entertainment research. Based on an appraisal-theoretical framework, the present study examined the role of multiple appraisals of recipients’ sadness. It is argued that these so-called meta-appraisals are able to transform one’s sadness into a positive meta-emotion (i.e., enjoyment); this process is called valence transformation. Results of an experimental study (N = 149) showed that in cases of a sad film ending, participants experienced higher levels of sadness than they did in cases of a happy ending. Furthermore, given a sad ending, meta-appraisal processes were activated that mediated the relationship between sadness and enjoyment. If the film had a happy ending, however, there were no indirect effects. Results are discussed in the light of theoretical considerations.

Falls in older people are common and may lead to considerable disability. Although a number of risk factors for falling have been identified, the role of foot problems has received relatively little attention in the literature. This article reviews the literature pertaining to the prevalence of foot problems in older people and discusses the relationship of foot problems to functional impairment and falls. In addition, a number of theoretical considerations regarding specific foot conditions and postural instability are outlined.

The anthropological literature on Yemen has had little to say about the classof sadah (plural of sayyid) who dominated the Zaydi imamate in NorthYemen from the tenth century until 1962. Gabriele vom Bruck’s account ofthe sadah, based on interviews and an extended stay in Yemen starting in1983, includes a wide range of information on perceptions of this class, especially after the 1962 revolution, with an emphasis on how personal identityis established and attitudes about marriage with non-sadah. There is anextensive bibliography of western sources, but little indication of the widerange of relevant Arabic sources available. It should be noted that vomBruck almost totally ignores the sadah of southern Yemen as well as of theTihama, although her text sometimes reads as if it were describing a genericclass of sadah for Yemen as a whole.  The author’s stated goal is “to examine the relationship of experience, social practice, and moral reasoning among the hereditary elite in the contextof revolutionary change” (p. 5). Her theoretical focus is on the social processof remembrance as the sadah were forced into new roles after the imamate’sdemise. Vom Bruck argues that we should avoid “a monolithic understandingof sayyid as a ‘vessel of charisma’ and ‘paragon of piety’” (p. 250) and suggeststhat the “descent metaphor” (p. 6) was the “principle self-defining criterion”of the sadah as well as the “core of the Imamate’s political culture.”(p. 6) However, the idiom of descent has also been the defining feature ofYemen’s tribes, so the role of descent per se is less relevant as a distinguishingmarker than how the sadah relate to other social categories.Although the relationship with tribesmen is mentioned at several points,it is not analyzed in depth apart from anecdotal evidence. For example, it ishighly problematic to label musicians al-akhdam (p. 44), who were actuallyquite rare in Zaydi towns and villages, a nuanced pariah category. There islittle sense of how the sadah fit into actual communities, and no effectiveintegration of the available literature previously published on Yemeni socialcategories (including Tomas Gerholm’s Market, Mosque, and Mafraj [StockholmUniversity Press: 1977] and Eduard Glaser’s important late-nineteenthcentury articles) ...
