Introduction. Experts in many occupations are to carry out their occupational activities in unusual conditions. And in particular, in a remote mode, which can be a factor that reduces the level of psychological well-being of the individual if there is no compliance with the situation of self-isolation. The purpose of the study is to study the teachers’ compliance with the situation of self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tasks of the study include the detection of the grade of the compliance with the situation of self-isolation during the pandemic, the analysis of the level of compliance with the situation of self-isolation during the pandemic as a factor of psychological well-being of teachers. Material and methods. We surveyed 124 teachers (between 23 to 67 years). The respondents’ answers are represented on three scales: Understanding the situation of self-isolation’, ‘Understanding of oneself in the situation of isolation, ‘Understanding the characteristics of the interactions and communication in the situation of isolation’. Results. Most respondents agree with the need for self-isolation and consider it to be a practical approach to prevent the incidence of COVID-19. The most pronounced responses are the ones on improving occupational and cultural levels. Most of the respondents note a high level of understanding of the value of relationships. Discussion. In particular, the problem of insufficiently high level of self-understanding in the situation of self-isolation, along with the acknowledgement of the need to comply with it, to be revealed. In this regard, it is advisable to provide psychological assistance in the form of information support for the population. Conclusion. That the better the respondents understand the need for self-isolation, the more effective the process of communication and interaction with others is, and, consequently, the less damage is caused to the level of psychological well-being of the individual. Due to the established lack of understanding of oneself in the situation of self-isolation, the following can be considered practical areas of informational psychological support: critical attitude to information that appears in various sources; building positive relationships within the family; managing work at home to ensure good performance; preserving the ability to return to the usual mode of life after the period of self-isolation.

The history of the family lacks a history. Sociologists and historians rarely cite interpretative literature written before the last third of the twentieth century. Curiously, at least for the discipline of history, recent scholars have seemingly regarded older perceptions as relics of a prescientific past. This foray into intellectual history will demonstrate that ignoring the history of this field also distorts it. My case study considers what is widely regarded as the largest revision in thinking about the history of the family—the complete overthrow of what William J. Goode, the sociologist most credited with its rejection, has derisively called (1970: 6) “the classical family of Western nostalgia.” Kertzer and Hogan (1988: 84) have aptly summarized the chief elements of the interpretation overturned by the revisionists: “Until recently, the popular image of Western family history pictured people as living in large extended family units that had multiple functions. With the advent of industrialization, it was thought, this system was transformed into one characterized by small, nuclear family units having more specialized functions.”

The article presents the results of a series of studies, the purpose of which was to study the socio-psychological patterns (causes and functions) of intergenerational conflict in different social contexts (in the family and in society). Problematic issues are discussed regarding the reasons for the inevitability of a generational conflict; the relationship of the conflict with the psychological well-being/unhappiness of the family; the “creativeˮ function of the conflict. The results of empirical studies are presented, the sample of which consisted of 371 people – representatives of the generations of “sonsˮ and “fathersˮ. The main results are the description of the system of positive and negative attitudes of young people in relation to old age as a factor of conflict, as well as contradictions in the understanding by parents and adolescent children of the actual situation of their relations and interaction. It is noted that this inconsistency is not only an indicator of intergenerational conflict in the family, but also an important factor in its inevitability, which is associated with natural attribution errors associated with differences in the life experience of different generations. Based on the analysis of the results obtained, the identification, adaptation and selection functions of the generational conflict in the family are described.

Genetic testing in Brugada syndrome (BrS) is still not considered to be useful for clinical management of patients in the majority of cases, due to the current lack of understanding about the effect of specific variants. Additionally, family history of sudden death is generally not considered useful for arrhythmic risk stratification. We sought to demonstrate the usefulness of genetic testing and family history in diagnosis and risk stratification. The family history was collected for a proband who presented with a personal history of aborted cardiac arrest and in whom a novel variant in the SCN5A gene was found. Living family members underwent ajmaline testing, electrophysiological study, and genetic testing to determine genotype-phenotype segregation, if any. Patch-clamp experiments on transfected human embryonic kidney 293 cells enabled the functional characterization of the SCN5A novel variant in vitro. In this study, we provide crucial human data on the novel heterozygous variant NM_198056.2:c.5000T>A (p.Val1667Asp) in the SCN5A gene, and demonstrate its segregation with a severe form of BrS and multiple sudden deaths. Functional data revealed a loss of function of the protein affected by the variant. These results provide the first disease association with this variant and demonstrate the usefulness of genetic testing for diagnosis and risk stratification in certain patients. This study also demonstrates the usefulness of collecting the family history, which can assist in understanding the severity of the disease in certain situations and confirm the importance of the functional studies to distinguish between pathogenic mutations and harmless genetic variants.
