Piano lessons which take place in music education departments involve example works of Turkish and world composers, education music examples, piano literature and learning-teaching techniques. Within this context, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, who is a member of The Turkish Five, wrote a composition called Duyuşlar, which consists of 11 pieces and is used in piano training. In this study, it was aimed to determine the usage of the composition Duyuşlar in the programs of institutions teaching music education in piano lessons in terms of technique, musical, and style characteristics. In accordance with this purpose, interviews are carried out by asking semi-structured interview questions to piano instructors who are using this work in their education process and working in Music Education Departments. The results of the interviews are determined into themes and codes using the qualitative research analysis program NVivo11. As a result, it is observed that the usage frequency in the direction of the themes and the recommended levels to use in the students vary, but the works contribute to piano education in terms of piano techniques, aksak measures, nuances, expressions, tempo and polyphonic techniques. It has also been proposed to increase the frequency of usage of Duyuşlar. It is thought that this study will contribute to the field of piano education in terms of the limited literature about this composition.

The article analyses the improvement of children’s independent living skills in the context of the restructuring of children's care homes. The concept of the restructuring of institutional care is presented. A qualitative-empirical study has been conducted by using the method of a semi-structured interview. The study data were processed by using the method of content analysis. The results of the empirical study are based on the experience of 14 social workers, who work in care institutions, which participate in the restructuring, which consists of the changeover from institutional care to the services that are provided to children, who have become destitute of parental care, in a family and community. Three directions of the improvement of children’s independent living skills in the context of the restructuring of children's care homes have been highlighted: increasing independence in adolescents (the engagement of children in a practical activity and their reasoning by encouraging and stimulating them for an independent activity); the improvement of the organisation of educational process (the increase of practical exercises, the  reduction of the number of nurtures in a household, the increase of an individual communication with a child); the improvement of material basis (fund raising and the redistribution of the resources available).

The article explores the idea of change in the higher educational process that is implemented via the problem-based learning strategy. Problem-based learning (PBL) is widely understood as an epistemological transformation in higher education. It is emphasized that the transformation should take place throughout the educational process, and assessment is an inseparable and very important part thereof. The study was aimed at revealing the experiences of participation in the assessment processes in PBL of students attending social science programmes in Lithuania. The empirical study, employing a semi-structured interview method, has shown that the students feel empowered when they have the opportunity to assess the entire educational process and (self-)assess the efforts related to the possibilities to become actively engaged in improvement of the assessment strategy. The study has also shown students’ critical approach to the previous experience of assessment in the educational process. Difficulties of student participation in the assessment process in PBL were also identified. They were largely due to the change in the assessment system employed by the teacher and the manifestations of student bias when participating in (self-)assessment.
