The article analyses the involvement of parents participating in the child's education process. The semi-structured interview method was chosen to collect the survey data. The content analysis method was used for the analysis of the research data. During the study, the aim was to find out what were the possibilities of parental involvement in the child's education process, and which parents were satisfied with the needs of the children. Parents who live in cities and villages are selected by the participants of the study. Data from a qualitative research analysis suggests that parents are divided into different parties to the opposition, where no one wants to engage in the child's educational process, while others actively contribute to the process of child's education. It has been disclosed that the lack of time planning and other factors make it impossible to contribute or minimally contribute to joint activities with the child.

Engaging chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients to actively participate in self-management has proven difficult. Digital health technology (DHT) promises to facilitate a patient-centred care model for the management of COPD by empowering patients to self-manage effectively. However, digital health studies in COPD have yet to demonstrate significant patient outcomes, suggesting that this research has still to adequately address the needs of patients in the intervention development process. The current study explored COPD patients' perceptions of the potential benefits of DHT in the self-management and treatment of their disease.A sample of convenience was chosen and participants (n=30) were recruited from two Dublin university hospitals and each underwent a qualitative semi-structured interview. Thematic analysis of the data was completed using NVivo 12 software.Six themes were identified: symptom management, anxiety management, interaction with physician, care management, personalising care and preventative intervention. In our findings, patients reported a willingness to take a more active role in self-management using DHT. They perceived DHT potentially enhancing their self-management by improving self-efficacy and engagement and by supporting healthcare professionals to practise preventative care provision. The findings can be used to inform patient-centred COPD digital interventions for researchers and clinicians who wish to develop study aims that align with the needs and preferences of patients.

Background: Stigma in mental illness is a serious social problem which has a multitude of consequences on the individual concerned, as well as his or her family. Research has shown that families of persons living with mental illnesses are often subjected to stigma by virtue of their association with such a person. The stigma of families is seen in the form of assignment of blame, social isolation and rejection. This stigma subsequently perpetuates a cycle of disability on the part of the patient and family.Purpose: To explore the stigma related experiences of family members of persons with mental illness in a selected community in the iLembe district of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), in order to develop recommendations to help families cope with such stigma. Methods: This was a descriptive qualitative study; data was collected from a purposive sample of six family members, which resulted in data saturation. Semi-structured interview questions were used during data collection and content analysis using Creswell's (2009) method was done to analyse the data; resulting in the formation of themes and sub-themes which were supported by the participants' responses and existing literature. Results: Participants reported experiencing stigma from the community in the form of isolation, blame and exploitation, community neglect, as well as labelling and stereotyping. The majority of the participants reported using emotion-focused coping mechanisms to deal with the stigma they faced. Participants suggested that education of communities regarding the myths and facts about mental illness may help to curb the stigma faced by the family members of persons with mental illness. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it was recommended that a combination of coping strategies, together with the integration of public and private sector support, be used to holistically deal with family related stigma. It was found that ground level education and support to families is the key to curbing family related stigma of mental illness, local NGO's and the clinics would be instrumental in this area.

The article reviews 60 publications and addresses key aspects of concurrent COVID-19 and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It presents data stating that COPD patients have higher expression of the receptor of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 in the lungs and this may contribute to a greater susceptibility to COVID-19. In COPD, signs of endothelial cell dysfunction and tendency to thrombus formation have been identified which can present the risk of unfavorable outcomes of COVID-19. Cohort study data do not confirm that COPD patients are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection, but their clinical outcomes of COVID-19 appear to be worse including the need for mechanical ventilation and lethality. There is no clinical evidence about the role of inhaled glucocorticosteroids used to manage COPD in the development and course of COVID-19.
