The paper is devoted to the problem of professional competence development of students majoring in Agronomy during the process of learning a foreign language. The authors indicate that the use of the integrative potential of a foreign language in modern realities is a source of professional knowledge, advanced experience and emphasize that the knowledge of a foreign language enables prospective agronomists to navigate in professional literature, on the market of agricultural products, as well as in the latest technologies, which results in their competitiveness in the agricultural sphere. Thus, learning a foreign language gives an agronomist an opportunity to improve professional competence and skills, to gain experience abroad, learn a lot of new information. In this regard, there is a necessity to update the content and structure, develop new approaches to organize the process of foreign language teaching to prospective agronomists. The paper notes the importance of Foreign Language course potential as an integrative factor influencing prospective agronomists professional competence development, and provides specific examples of its use. The paper analyzes the notions competence and prospective agronomists professional competence based on the views of domestic and foreign scientists. The authors underline the expediency of the competence approach use for professional competence development, which has recently transformed from a local theory into a social phenomenon that claims to be the conceptual basis of educational development. The provisions of the paper are based on the advanced research in the field of professional training and teaching foreign languages.

The methodological influence of B. Jones’ model “MUSIC” on the process of professional competence development in prospective foreign language teachers in the process of professional training is studied in the article. The definitions of “educational environment” and “educational space” are considered; it is concluded that the process of professional training of prospective teachers of foreign languages should be aimed at the development of their professional competence. In the course of the research it is established that the five-level model “MUSIC” of B. Jones, which is presented from the author's point of view, can help to optimize the impact of the environment on the process of professional competence development in the course of professional training of prospective foreign language teachers. At the first level, it is suggested to provide extended powers to prospective teachers of foreign languages in order to exercise their self-control over the process of developing thier professional competence during professional training. At the second level, it is necessary to make sure that prospective foreign language teachers recognize the importance of the material offered to them for mastering for their future professional development. At the third level, prospective foreign language teachers must be clearly aware that the success of their learning also depends on the right strategies. The fourth level is closely related to the sincere interest of prospective professionals in acquiring professional qualities. At the fifth level, it is essential to take care of students, to take into account the environmental factors that may affect the level of their professional development. It is concluded that in the focus of professional competence development of prospective foreign language teachers it is vital to create such an environment that would promote friendly relations between prospective professionals and the faculty staff, as it will have a positive effect on the quality of training of prospective foreign language teachers.

The article substantiates and presents the structure and content of the information and communication learning environment for the formation of important components of the professional competence of the future teacher of foreign languages – a professionally oriented communicative competence other than language, methodical and innovative competencies. Taking into account the technical and didactic capabilities of the Moodle education management system, it is determined that it should be used to design the information and communication learning environment for the professional training of the future foreign language teacher. The structure of the electronic informational and methodological package for the discipline as a complex of electronic educational resources, combined into training modules, electronic cases, topics designed to provide a comprehensive system of teaching of future teachers of foreign languages for the development of professional competence in the process of independent out-of-class work is presented.

The article analyzes different approaches to the  «professional training of a teacher» definition as a system of organizational-pedagogical measures and vocational training systems; a critical study, the improvement and experimental use of ideas; the purposeful, systematic and organized process of pedagogical influences; qualifications in the process of studying in the corresponding direction, specialty, educational program; systems of special knowledge, abilities and skills, competences, qualities. The peculiarities of the professional training of future foreign languages teachers are defined by the author as: a possession of units of a foreign language and the ability to use them in specific situations of communication; a consistency of the initial level of foreign languages knowledge received at school with the goals and objectives, methods and technologies of forming the personality of a student as a future specialist in the process of vocational training; the ratio of theoretical and practical training, special and psycho-pedagogical, methodical preparation; a symmetrical study of two foreign languages and bilingual life (Ukrainian and Russian); knowledge and appreciation of the cultural characteristics of a nation, the language of which is studied. The author also proposes the definition of the concept of «professional training of future foreign language teachers» as a dynamic system of organizational and pedagogical influences, which is characterized by the unity of goals, content, methods and technologies of professional training of students, which study foreign languages on a multi-lingual basis, and foresees the formation of readiness for their professional activity, a professional competence. The article deals with important components of the future foreign languages teachers’ training such as: the theoretical and linguistic training; the practical training; the professional-oriented theoretical training; the methodical one. The article analyzes the tendencies of future teacher training in the European region. Among the modern European approaches to foreign language teacher training, the author highlights the following main trends: the unification of requirements for professional training in the process of higher education integration into European educational space; the updating of goals and content of studying and teaching foreign languages, changing educational programs and state standards taking into account common European trends; the transition from the knowledge concept to the competence paradigm in higher education; the internationalization of education; the use of new flexible technologies in the study of foreign languages, the strengthening of the practical component of vocational training.

In the present times of globalization, the issues of a high level of proficiency in foreign languages are especially relevant in the context of the significant need for specialists capable of working in an international environment. Foreign language proficiency is a significant condition for establishing and maintaining international business contacts, intensifying professional interaction with foreign colleagues. According to the Bologna Convention, knowledge of foreign languages is an important component of today's mobility of students, teachers and scientists in the context of access to education, innovative research and teaching opportunities in the postmodern European space. All these factors justify the economic value of a knowledge of foreign languages and become one of the key components of the professional competence of future specialists in the postmodern space. Competitiveness of specialists is directly dependent on on the ability to process professional foreign literature, as well as on the usefulness of the ability to listen to lecture material and reports in a foreign language during conferences, round tables and seminars; from the ability to take part in an idiosyncratic conversation on professional and business topics; as well as the ability to search for new information on the Internet or in theoretical scientific sources of the world level; from the ability to prepare and conduct a presentation on a selected topic in postmodern society.

The article refers to the formation of students with a specialty "Architecture and Urban Planning" of the educational level "Bachelor, Master" of the ability to function as subjects of the international educational space, carrying out active intercultural communication as part of their professional and scientific activities. The Bologna Declaration formulated the main goals leading to the comparability and harmonization of national educational systems of higher education in Europe. Currently, due to the active process of Ukraine's integration into the common European educational space of particular significance foreign language training of highly qualified personnel in the system of undergraduate and graduate programs. Relevant for the introduction of training programs in a foreign language in specialized disciplines in non-linguistic universities into the educational process is the process of preparation and planning by teachers of classes in the relevant disciplines. It is necessary to identify priorities, taking into account the study of these disciplines in the framework of the basic methodology, defined by many years of experience. The article focuses on the features of teaching the main core discipline of a specialty of architectural design in a foreign language. In this case, a foreign language acts as a means of increasing professional competence and personal and professional development of both teachers and students. In order to achieve a high quality education comparable to European, it is necessary to actively introduce new teaching technologies. Innovative technologies of teaching foreign languages in a non-linguistic university include a combination of traditional and intensive teaching methods, the development of a holistic system of teaching students how to speak language on professional topics, taking into account professional training, and the development of common assessment criteria. Without the synchronization and interconnection of the work of foreign language departments and disciplines in the profile of the training, it is impossible to master professional foreign language vocabulary, develop skills in all types of speech activity, and reading and translating texts in the specialty. Foreign language training in a specialized discipline contributes to the achievement of a number of goals: obtaining skills and competencies necessary for employment, the opportunity to participate in integration activities, developing a lifelong learning culture, countering social exclusion, and promoting an active citizenship.

The article analyzes the current trends in teaching foreign languages for professional purposes at universities, which have become especially widespread in recent years, when Ukraine made the final decision to move along the path of the European integration. The newest effective technologies for the formation of professional competence at classes of foreign language for professional purposes have been characterized; the importance of knowledge of a foreign language in the context of globalization and internationalization of economic relations was noted and the need for high-quality knowledge of a foreign language has been substantiated, which becomes not only a means of obtaining information from primary sources, but also, in the future, a means of establishing business ties with foreign partners. The role of new information technologies and resources in the process of teaching a foreign language, which are becoming increasingly popular, has been emphasized: video conferences, case studies, psychodrama, TED video talks, round tables, brainstorming, podcasting, debates, business games, trainings, etc. etc. Multimedia, interactivity and the use of Internet technologies, messengers, tools and platforms for video communication have been stated as the main approaches to teaching foreign languages for professional purposes at universities in modern conditions; the importance of online communication, which is becoming increasingly relevant in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has been emphasized. The article describes the possibilities of using the Internet, software, special computer programs, electronic dictionaries, translators, test shells and other multimedia technologies at classes of foreign language for professional purposes in order to search for additional material, prepare educational assignments, check individual assignments, etc. The deductive principle has been characterized as a new strategy for studying foreign languages for professional purposes at higher education institutions, according to which didactic dynamics proceeds from the general to the partial, and, as a result, a student-centric approach is implemented. The systemic communication method has been outlined the basis for the development and development of a mobile communication activity at the professional level.

The article reviews the main reasons for the growth of the role of a «foreign language» discipline within the framework of non-linguistic specialties as part of the process of gradual reformation of the higher education system in Ukraine. The author addresses the search for effective concepts for the integration of professional training and teaching foreign languages for future highly qualified specialists in non-linguistic universities, which are reflected in strategic government documents. The main innovative methods of teaching a foreign language, conditions for their effective application in the educational process of higher educational institutions along with their teaching and educational potential are analyzed. Amongst the innovative methods of teaching students a foreign language, the author highlighted the following: training modules that ensure the development of the fluency of students' speech, as well as their confident communication in a foreign language; case technologies that make it possible to use practical life situations for learning; binary classes allowing the integration of subjects, interest and students` motivation. Educators and students have the opportunity to use the Internet and computer technology to increase the efficiency of the process of learning foreign languages in university courses. A great tool for learning foreign languages are mobile applications and Internet platforms that use authentic materials. Students and teachers have access to audio and video materials created by native speakers who are also teachers. Mobile applications allow you to independently create test tasks, surveys and a variety of games and involve a large number of students.

The article is devoted to the consideration of the relevance and analysis of the formation of the professional competence of a foreign language teacher. This is due to the modern socio-cultural conditions, new educational standards, and the ever-increasing requirements for the process of teaching foreign languages. The term "professional competence" is considered using an integrated methodology, which includes theoretical and empirical research methods. The authors have concluded that the professional competence of a foreign language teacher is a complex of various skills and abilities facilitating effective cooperation between the teacher and students in certain professional situations. Furthermore, the authors see the solutions to these problems, the creation of a flexible and mobile system of advanced training and the search for more effective forms of interaction between educational institutions, methodological services, and professional associations of teachers for purposeful continuous pedagogical education of teachers of a foreign language.
