The paper presents the results of an empirical study aimed at the identification of empirical types of social maturity in young people; its relevance is due to the lack of typology of social maturity in modern socio-psychological literature. The study was performed on a sample of young people aged 18 to 30 years old (347 people, including 178 women and 169 men). We assumed that there are various empirical types of social maturity in young people depending on the evaluation of actualized personal and social resources, the orientation of social experiences, value orientations, and behavioral activity. We used methods based on the comprehensive program developed by A. B. Kupreichenko and A. L. Zhuravlev, as well as L. M. Smirnov’s method “Basic Values and Disvalues of Russians”. The aim of this study was to distinguish the main types of social maturity from an integrative position, reflecting the view of this phenomenon as a compound, including not only socially oriented, but also individual psychological components. It is shown that the systematic approach to the study of social maturity allows us to present this phenomenon as a unified socio-psychological construct. The following components are distinguished as components of social maturity analyzed in the study: cognitive, value, emotional and conative ones. Five empirical types of social maturity were found: “ascetic”, “ambitious”, “not actualized”, “asocial”, “socially mature”. The distinguished types of social maturity are differentiated according to the grounds of the social maturity components. In the future, these types can also become the basis for creating methodological tools that diagnose parameters distinguishing subjects with different manifestation and orientation of the social maturity phenomenon.

The paper describes results of a social psychological study on religious identity in Buddhist schoolchil- dren. The study involved 184 students of 9—10 classes of a school in the Aginskoye settlement (Aginsky Buryatsky Okrug, Zabaykalsky Krai). According to G. Allport’s concept and R. Gorsuch & S. McPherson measurements, religious identity is considered not only as practicing Buddhism, but as a complex social psychological formation with a four-factor structure base on the following scales: personal/social and in- trinsic/extrinsic. Different components of religious identity are explored in the context of their relation- ship with value orientations (as described by S. Schwartz and G. Hofstede). The following techniques were employed: the adapted version of D. Van Camp’s Individual/Social Religious Identity Measure, Schwartz’s Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ-R2), and Hofstede’s Values Survey Module. As it was revealed, al- most all values related to various components of religious identity of the Buddhist adolescents refer to the social focus. The paper concludes that religious identity in modern Buddhist young people has a distinctive social character.

The article deals with the actual problems of forming life strategies of students. The student youth is considered as a certain part of the human resources and represents a certain part of the youth, which has both common and specific features with its youth. The formation of life strategies of students is influenced by various factors. These factors include: educational, socio-cultural, material and property, family and household, regional settlement. The degree of influence of these factors has not been fully investigated. They require specific details and in-depth sociological research. The article presents the mechanism of formation of life strategies of students as a complex contradictory process that determines the purposeful construction of their future, is revealed in specific life situations related to choice and is implemented through identification mechanisms. The analysis of life strategies of students shows that the leading role in their construction belongs to external factors that affect the social behaviour of young people. The definition and formation of life strategies of the student youth in many respects depends on a set of resources that are owned by young people. The article shows that the basis for constructing life strategies are value orientations, which are currently subject to significant transformation. This greatly complicates the process of value self-determination of modern students. Research on this issue allows us to conclude that students strive for their own responsible design of their lives, but for most students, the main priority and leading motive in the formation of life strategies is not their own individuality, but the social environment with its own values and guidelines.

The article attempts to analyze the social activity of youth in the context of semantic representations of university students. Based on the materials of a regional empirical study, the meanings of activity are analyzed, as well as those meanings that are significant in the self-regulation of socially directed and individualized activity of students. The research shows that the meaning of social activity in the perception of university youth correlates with the priorities of executive authorities involved in the implementation of youth policy; the dependence between the frequency of students' participation in social activity practices and the willingness to perceive this activity through institutionally organized forms is determined. The dominant ideological attitudes among university youth are analyzed and their connection with the motivation of social activity is described. The contradiction between the semantic idea of social activity and the activity manifested is revealed: the students determine this activity basing on the altruistic values, but in practice, hedonistic and instrumental values are at the heart of the activities of young people.

Particular attention is paid to the model of pedagogic assistance to self-realisation of students in the educational space of the university. The text provides effective forms of pedagogic assistance to self-realisation of students in the educational space of the university. The article analyses the results of an empirical study of the process of pedagogic assistance to self-realisation of students in the direction of training "Social Work" in the educational space of the university. During the analysis of the literature and the study, it was revealed that in the process of self-realisation there is always something that encourages the student to carry out self-realisation – a motive reflected in the goal of self-realisation, which affects the final result of its studies at the university. The necessity of timely determination of interests, abilities, inclinations, value orientations, students’ capabilities and ways of overcoming barriers that hinder self-realisation is shown. In this case, the teacher acts as a partner, coordinator, consultant, mentor, thereby providing more opportunities for the student's independence and responsibility.

The inflow of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar experiencing trauma and torture is a major global issue. This article explores relationships with local communities as they are represented in the multi-vocal voices of Rohingya refugees. Interviews and focus groups were conducted with a group of Rohingya refugees based in the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh along with observations of camp life. Twenty participants were interviewed. The observations provide insights into the feelings of anxiety among the Rohingya refugees. Yet, the findings also suggest that the refugees hold out hope that in Bangladesh they will find a sense of belonging. The study draws on Bakhtin’s notion of heteroglossia as positioned through sociological discourse, to reflect the social experiences of refugee young people and their families. The intent of the article is to open up, rather than to close off engagement with the issue – furthering awareness and possible actions to be taken.

Introduction. The topic of military reform in Russia in the late XX - early XXI centuries is part of the fundamental problem of relations between Russian society and the army. The literature traces different approaches in her research. One of the important areas is the study of the transition to a professional army, which actualizes the problem of the social resources of such a transition, taking into account the characteristics of specific territories. The proposed article discusses the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of social resources of the Primorsky Krai for the formation of contract troops, including the demographic dynamics of the respective age cohorts, attitudes towards this type of professional activity from those who have not yet served youth (for example, students) and those who have experience contract military service.Methods. The empirical basis of the article consists of official documents, statistical data on demographic dynamics, materials of opinion polls of 2017. The study used factor and comparative analysis; in the study of demographic resources - the method of compiling tables, longitudinal and transverse analysis. Conclusions are also obtained on the basis of the application of the questionnaire method.Results. Over the past 10 years after the end of hostilities in Chechnya, a new social and professional group has emerged in the country - peacetime contract servicemen; elements of increased expectations of positive changes in the Russian army are actively forming in Russian society. Nevertheless, the Primorsky Krai remains a territory with a reduced social resource for recruiting young people under contract, which is important to take into account in Russia’s domestic policy. In the foreseeable 20-year term, the reduction in the number of male population suitable for contract service will continue. On the other hand, in Primorye, a low degree of orientation among students towards military service as a form of social mobility remains.Conclusions. Despite the good implementation of recruitment plans for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the contract in recent years, the degree of physical and moral readiness of young people for it was insufficient, which entailed a high “turnover” of contract soldiers in the army, the predominance of insufficiently experienced personnel among them. The policy of increasing the prestige of the social and professional status of a contractor, along with measures of material interest, must be supported by in-depth (and not just “parade”) patriotic education and preliminary moral and psychological training for young people. It is the qualitative characteristics that can increase the importance of a social recruitment resource for a contract service and, to a certain extent, compensate for the demographic restrictions in the territories.
