This study sought to assess the perception of tea pluckers on the introduction of tea plucking machines in James Finlay’s Kenya. The research was a case study of one of the major tea industry players; James Finlay’s Kenya Ltd. The target populations were all the tea estates in James Finlay’s (K) Ltd in Kericho County. James Finlay’s has a total of 13 Tea estates. There are a total of 10,262 tea pluckers in the company. A sample of five estates was considered and a sample of 20% of tea pluckers in these estates was taken for the study. A representative group according to Mugenda and Mugenda is one that is at least 10% of the population of interest. The above sample was therefore representative. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and interview methods. The data collected was supplemented with available literature review on the subject of study. The response from cross-functional sample group was analysed using descriptive statistical techniques in form of frequency distribution tables, percentages, pie charts, and computer packages. The study found that the tea pluckers viewed the introduction of the machines negatively; they interpreted it as a way of rendering them obsolete and eventually retrenching them. They therefore did not fully support its implementation

This research aimed to present a brightness control system through the Arduino prototype that will adjust the brightness in the workplace according to the Brazilian norms according to the activities performed and through the literature review point its advantages and benefits to the company. To this end, the following research methodologies were adopted: case study, literature review, quantitative and qualitative analysis. Where illuminance samples were collected in a work environment where they are outside the standard of NBR 8995-1, a fact that has been negatively influencing workers performance and company results, a high level of energy consumption was also detected energy. Thus, based on the literature review on the subject, and the results obtained in the inspection of the illuminance of the work environment, it was possible to present a prototype on the Arduino platform that solved the problem of lighting in the work environment, regarding the quantitative results of the work. Research has proven that with the installation of the prototype in the workplace the energy reduction can vary from 7% to 20% in addition to the reduction of occupational disease costs, and the qualitative results show numerous benefits of adequate lighting in the workplace. minus three spheres: physical; cognitive and operational.

In today’s education systems, new solutions are required for educators to raise and maintain the interest of young people (from primary school to higher education). The aim of the study is to present a self-developed gamification solution and its application in higher education in economics. The method, the process, and experiences presented in the study were tested within the framework of a management subject. The gamification model, based on an extensive literature review, was elaborated with the help of a self-developed method. Prior to the development of the process, students’ opinions on their experiences and expectations for current educational methods were surveyed. After the end of the semester, our students were asked on their feedback, and a national survey was conducted in higher education institutions about the experiences with gamification solutions. The positive consequences of the application of our own model, can be traced in the students’ continuous and year-end performance (a higher level of task solutions and better grades) and also in their feedback. Although the subject of the test semester was a management-type subject, the logic of the model can be applied within the framework of any other subject and in any higher education institution as well.

A proposta deste artigo é avaliar o sistema de medição em um estudo de caso utilizando a ferramenta Gage R&R, com o objetivo de descobrir a variação das medições, podendo ser por Repetibilidade e/ou Reprodutibilidade. Na ferramenta DMAIC utilizada no Seis Sigma, a etapa Medir é usualmente a mais complicada e demorada pela baixa qualidade dos sistemas de medições da maioria das empresas. Pretende-se uma revisão literária para melhor conhecimento do assunto, assim, a primeira etapa foi a criação de um procedimento para a empresa em estudo. Após a elaboração do procedimento, os colaboradores foram treinados e a gerência definiu as principais inspeções que afetam o produto para a realização do estudo. Em seguida, a ferramenta foi aplicada e cada saída foi analisada comprovando a presença de variações que poderiam não ser consideradas. Palavras-chave: Sistema de medição. DMAIC. Gage R&R. Abstract The proposal is to evaluate the measurement system in a case study using the tool Gage R & R in order to find the variation of the measurements may be for repeatability and / or reproducibility. The tool used in Six Sigma DMAIC, the Measure step is usually the most complicated and delayed by the poor quality of measurement systems of most companies. We performed a literature review to better knowledge of the subject, so the first step was to create a procedure for the company under study. Following completion of the procedure were trained employees and management identified key inspections that affect the product for the study. Then the tool was applied and each output was analyzed demonstrating the presence of variations that could not be considered. Keywords: Measurement System. DMAIC. Gage R&R.

This study examines the process of building common understanding in a case study of an international information technology (IT) project. A literature review situates the subject of common understanding among fields of research and identifies issues that are insufficiently explored. Our quantitative and qualitative surveys in the case study reveal that common understanding relates to experience. It also establishes that there are situational variations in common understanding. The theoretical implications are presented about the acquisition of common understanding in diverse organisations and the relations to employee experience. It shows that the nature of common understanding shifts from inductive to deductive knowledge as employees accumulate experience in international IT projects.

This paper explores the relationship between Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (or Organizational Social Responsibility). To this end, the document is based on a case study about a Colombian long-tradition firm known as Organización Carvajal, which has extended its activity all over Latin America. The case study covers the period 2008-2015, between the arrival of a non-family CEO to the last year containing enough information about the subject at the research time. The relationship between the Corporate Governance and the Organizational Social Responsibility is studied based on a model that considers the interest of the majority-owners-block-family and CEO about the firm outlays for the Organizational Social Responsibility. The presentation is built as follows: first, central issues of the disciplinary context are shown. They are centered on placing the Corporate Governance-Organizational Social Responsibility relationship in Multilatinas among the organizational discussion. Second, the literature review explains the conceptual frame to visualize both the relationship mentioned above and the fieldwork. This part sets the theoretical model used as a referent. Finally, the case is described, discussed and the conclusions incorporated. The findings suggest that the CEO – owner agency problem in this Multilatina is not significant enough to become the main reason to alter the relationship between Corporate Governance and Organizational Social Responsibility.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the acquisition of syntactic child aged five year the research is a descriptive qualitative and research method is a case study with content analysis techniques. The subject of this study was one a five-year-old child, whose initial name was HGF, living in the South Jakarta area. Data collection techniques are done by observation and interview methods. Data in the form of audio and video recordings was then transcribed into written form. The data was listened and read repeatedly for later analysis. The most dominant syntactic acquisition results were phrase acquisition, which was62.6% with details of the verb phrase 26.7%, adjunctively phrases 8.6%, noun phrases 12.2%, prepositional phrases 15.1%; acquisition of single sentences was 20.1%; and obtaining compound sentences was 17.3%. Keywords: acquisition, syntax, children.

This study aims to examine the development of the management of the Employee Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia (KPRI) in Lumajang Regency. Where some cooperatives can run well and achieve achievements that can be proud of, some others are less well developed, some have problems, some KPRI are no longer active. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, the research method uses interview methods and documentation. Also supported by a literature review that is relevant to the subject matter. This study provides a systematic  overview of the management of KPRI in Lumajang Regency as it is. From several KPRI in Lumajang Regency, there are KPRI-KPRI that can carry out their roles and functions significantly in the welfare of their members. But there are some KPRI that are not healthy and finally can not work anymore. Of the 57 KPRI who are still active as many as 46 KPRI, the remaining 11 are not active. The main contributing factor is being unable to overcome the risk of trying. Thus, managers are required to be able to implement risk management in running cooperatives, by minimizing risk, transferring risk, controlling risk and risk funding.

Background: Research shows that there is a high prevalence of suicide among nurses. Despite this, it has been 15 years since the last literature review on the subject was published. Aim: The aim of this article is to review the knowledge currently available on the risk of suicide among nurses and on contributory risk factors. Method: A search was conducted in electronic databases using keywords related to prevalence and risk factors of suicide among nurses. The abstracts were analyzed by reviewers according to selection criteria. Selected articles were submitted to a full-text review and their key elements were summarized. Results: Only nine articles were eligible for inclusion in this review. The results of this literature review highlight both the troubling high prevalence of suicide among nurses as well as the persistent lack of studies that examine this issue. Conclusion: Considering that the effects of several factors related to nurses' work and work settings are associated with high stress, distress, or psychiatric problems, we highlight the relevance of investigating work-related factors associated with nurses' risk of suicide. Several avenues for future studies are discussed as well as possible research methods.

In the discipline of Islamic law research, strong proofing and clear Istinbat method are key pillars in the construction of Islamic law based on the application of the science of usul al-fiqh and maqasid al-shari'ah. However, what happens at the state of Johor’s fatwa institution is the opposite. The fatwa research methods applied by the Fatwa Committee of Johor in resolving current fatwa issues is not based on the right and true discipline of Islamic law research. In fact, current inputs related to fatwa issues are not explicitly stated in the method of determining the law either in the form of reality or scientifically verified. Therefore, this paper will discuss the fatwa procedures undertaken by the Fatwa Committee of Johor based on the methods applied in resolving current issues. The research methodology adopted is library and interview methods. This study shows that fatwa management and production in the state of Johor is placed under the jurisdiction of the Mufti of Johor’s Department. The methods adopted by the Fatwa Committee of Johor covers two methods, namely: internal research methods including literature review through the application of original source and proofs based on syarak. Second: field research method that includes an external review or going to the location of study such as conducting observation, questionnaires and interviews including referrals to specialists of different fields. Maslahah and mafsdah consideration are also implemented by the Fatwa Committee in every fatwa decision based on the standard that meets the interests of maqasid al-shari'ah. Namun begitu, apa yang berlaku di institusi fatwa negeri Johor adalah sebaliknya. Kaedah penyelidikan fatwa yang diaplikasi oleh Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Johor dalam menyelesaikan isu fatwa semasa tidak berasaskan kepada disiplin penyelidikan hukum Islam yang tepat dan sebenar. Malahan input-input semasa yang berkaitan dengan isu fatwa juga tidak dinyatakan secara jelas dalam kaedah penentuan hukum sama ada dalam bentuk realiti yang berlaku atau pembuktian secara saintifik. Justeru, kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan prosedur fatwa Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Johor berdasarkan metode-metode yang diaplikasi dalam menyelesaikan isu-isu yang bersifat semasa. Metodologi kajian yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah melalui metode perpustakaan dan metode lapangan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa pengurusan dan pengeluaran fatwa di negeri Johor hanya terletak di bawah bidang kuasa Jabatan Mufti Johor. Metode fatwa yang diamalkan oleh Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Johor merangkumi dua metode iaitu pertama, kaedah penyelidikan dalaman yang merangkumi kajian kepustakaan menerusi pengaplikasian dari sumber asas dan dalil-dalil syarak. Kedua, kaedah penyelidikan lapangan yang meliputi kajian luaran atau turun ke lokasi kajian seperti observasi, soal selidik dan temubual dan rujukan kepada pakar dalam bidang yang berlainan. Pertimbangan maslahah dan mafsdah juga dimplementasikan oleh Jawatankuasa Fatwa dalam setiap keputusan fatwanya berasaskan standard yang menepati kepentingan maqasid al-shari’ah. Purpose-This paper examines the nature of services and processes of business incubation. Its specific objectives are to establish the nature of services offered by business incubation centers in Uganda, examine the incubation process and to establish the perception of business incu- batees about business incubation services using a case of FinAfrica a private social enterprise. Methodology-This paper presents findings from one incubation center FinAfrica as a case study. Ethnographic design is adopted while observation and interview methods are used to collect data. Results-Key services offered by FinAfrica incubation center include entrepreneurial training, provision of office space, legal and accounting services, mentoring, coaching, entrepreneurial networks and general office administration. The centre has a unique business incubation model which starts with motivating people to start businesses, capacity building, business registration, and ends with graduation after attaining capability for self-sustainability. Incubatees perceive the services offered by the incubation centre as helpful through training, affordable office space, entrepreneurial ecosystem and opportunities for a lean startup. Implications- While this study does not offer statistical inferences for generalisation because of the qualitative design and single case, the exploration of FinAfrica provides insights about how Incubation centers need to plan for positive and sustainable entrepreneurial impact for startups. There is need for more Government and other development partners’ involvement in business incubation and post incubation support for competiveness and growth. Originality/value- This study provides insights about the key services offered in the incubation process and provides insights into the perceived benefits of business incubation. It also contributes to literature about business incubation with practical evidence from an emerging economy whose focus is on private sector development and innovation promotion.
