This research aimed to present a brightness control system through the Arduino prototype that will adjust the brightness in the workplace according to the Brazilian norms according to the activities performed and through the literature review point its advantages and benefits to the company. To this end, the following research methodologies were adopted: case study, literature review, quantitative and qualitative analysis. Where illuminance samples were collected in a work environment where they are outside the standard of NBR 8995-1, a fact that has been negatively influencing workers performance and company results, a high level of energy consumption was also detected energy. Thus, based on the literature review on the subject, and the results obtained in the inspection of the illuminance of the work environment, it was possible to present a prototype on the Arduino platform that solved the problem of lighting in the work environment, regarding the quantitative results of the work. Research has proven that with the installation of the prototype in the workplace the energy reduction can vary from 7% to 20% in addition to the reduction of occupational disease costs, and the qualitative results show numerous benefits of adequate lighting in the workplace. minus three spheres: physical; cognitive and operational.

Local government in Poland at the commune level has various sources of own income, one of them being the tax on means of transport. The need for communes to carry out many tasks requires ensuring income to the local budget at a sufficiently high level. The risk of a decrease in income to the budgets of communes caused by the worsening of the economic situation as a result of an epidemic makes it necessary to assess the sources of communes’ income. An audit, which evaluates selected areas of activity of a given organization, is a useful tool. The main objective of the research for the purposes of this publication was to assess the level of income to the budget of selected municipalities from the tax on means of transport and its share in the total income of municipalities. In addition, changes in the level of income to the budgets of the surveyed municipalities in 2016-2019 were verified. Moreover, the article presents the essence and importance of audit in the assessment of revenue to the municipal budget. The article uses a case study, an analytical method, an application method, a method of examining source documents and a literature review as the research methods. The analysis of budget revenues of selected communes of Pomorskie Voivodship in Poland showed that the tax on means of transport constitutes a small percentage share in total budget revenues (below 1% of total budget revenues). In addition, a significant decrease in revenues from this tax to the budgets of 11 surveyed municipalities was observed in the surveyed period 2016-2019. The analysis also revealed fluctuations in the municipalities’ revenues from the tax on means of transport, which make it difficult to forecast revenues. It should also be noted that municipalities apply certain discounts and preferences when setting the amount of the tax on means of transport, which also reduce the revenue of the municipality. The assessment of revenues to municipalities’ budgets from the tax on means of transport indicates that further analyses of revenues from individual local taxes and charges should be carried out in order to identify potential risks and threats to the financial economy of municipalities in Poland.

A system that is used for time-clocking, creating an all-inclusive electronic record of the process involved in how employees logs in and out of work on working days are referred to as a clocking system. The system has an additional feature of calculating an accurate payroll system, which in turn, can lead to a precise amount the company spent on labour. In essence, an employee clocking system is a process of monitoring the attendance, presence and truancy of employees in a work environment. In this project, the University of Energy and Natural Resources was used as a case study. The existing method of recording the presence of staff to work is by a manual process where employees record their attendance on a paper. The challenge of the current employee attendance system is the difficulty in tracing old records, safekeeping, lack of confidentiality and the chances of other employees logging in for their truant colleagues. This paper sought to introduce a biometric employee clocking system to help overcome the high level of truancy in workplaces. The results of the experiment we conducted indicate a high accuracy in our system with TAR value of 99.7%. This accuracy rate is much better than the results other researchers obtained. The excellent accuracy implies that employees will have difficulty to check-in or out for their truant colleagues. The high accuracy results will help improved security of attendance, improved employee performance, ensures fast and easy retrieval of data, easy monitoring of staff, and prevent impersonation in the attendance logs.

Context: The concept of software craftsmanship has early roots in computing, and in 2009, the Manifesto for Software Craftsmanship was formulated as a reaction to how the Agile methods were practiced and taught. But software craftsmanship has seldom been studied from a software engineering perspective. Objective: The objective of this article is to systematize an anatomy of software craftsmanship through literature studies and a longitudinal case study. Method: We performed a snowballing literature review based on an initial set of nine papers, resulting in 18 papers and 11 books. We also performed a case study following seven years of software development of a product for the financial market, eliciting qualitative, and quantitative results. We used thematic coding to synthesize the results into categories. Results: The resulting anatomy is centered around four themes, containing 17 principles and 47 hierarchical practices connected to the principles. We present the identified practices based on the experiences gathered from the case study, triangulating with the literature results. Conclusion: We provide our systematically derived anatomy of software craftsmanship with the goal of inspiring more research into the principles and practices of software craftsmanship and how these relate to other principles within software engineering in general.

In today’s education systems, new solutions are required for educators to raise and maintain the interest of young people (from primary school to higher education). The aim of the study is to present a self-developed gamification solution and its application in higher education in economics. The method, the process, and experiences presented in the study were tested within the framework of a management subject. The gamification model, based on an extensive literature review, was elaborated with the help of a self-developed method. Prior to the development of the process, students’ opinions on their experiences and expectations for current educational methods were surveyed. After the end of the semester, our students were asked on their feedback, and a national survey was conducted in higher education institutions about the experiences with gamification solutions. The positive consequences of the application of our own model, can be traced in the students’ continuous and year-end performance (a higher level of task solutions and better grades) and also in their feedback. Although the subject of the test semester was a management-type subject, the logic of the model can be applied within the framework of any other subject and in any higher education institution as well.

DMAIC. Gage R&R. Abstract The proposal is to evaluate the measurement system in a case study using the tool Gage R & R in order to find the variation of the measurements may be for repeatability and / or reproducibility. The tool used in Six Sigma DMAIC, the Measure step is usually the most complicated and delayed by the poor quality of measurement systems of most companies. We performed a literature review to better knowledge of the subject, so the first step was to create a procedure for the company under study. Following completion of the procedure were trained employees and management identified key inspections that affect the product for the study. Then the tool was applied and each output was analyzed demonstrating the presence of variations that could not be considered. Keywords: Measurement System. DMAIC. Gage R&R.

This study examines the process of building common understanding in a case study of an international information technology (IT) project. A literature review situates the subject of common understanding among fields of research and identifies issues that are insufficiently explored. Our quantitative and qualitative surveys in the case study reveal that common understanding relates to experience. It also establishes that there are situational variations in common understanding. The theoretical implications are presented about the acquisition of common understanding in diverse organisations and the relations to employee experience. It shows that the nature of common understanding shifts from inductive to deductive knowledge as employees accumulate experience in international IT projects.

This study sought to assess the perception of tea pluckers on the introduction of tea plucking machines in James Finlay’s Kenya. The research was a case study of one of the major tea industry players; James Finlay’s Kenya Ltd. The target populations were all the tea estates in James Finlay’s (K) Ltd in Kericho County. James Finlay’s has a total of 13 Tea estates. There are a total of 10,262 tea pluckers in the company. A sample of five estates was considered and a sample of 20% of tea pluckers in these estates was taken for the study. A representative group according to Mugenda and Mugenda is one that is at least 10% of the population of interest. The above sample was therefore representative. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and interview methods. The data collected was supplemented with available literature review on the subject of study. The response from cross-functional sample group was analysed using descriptive statistical techniques in form of frequency distribution tables, percentages, pie charts, and computer packages. The study found that the tea pluckers viewed the introduction of the machines negatively; they interpreted it as a way of rendering them obsolete and eventually retrenching them. They therefore did not fully support its implementation

This paper explores the relationship between Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (or Organizational Social Responsibility). To this end, the document is based on a case study about a Colombian long-tradition firm known as Organización Carvajal, which has extended its activity all over Latin America. The case study covers the period 2008-2015, between the arrival of a non-family CEO to the last year containing enough information about the subject at the research time. The relationship between the Corporate Governance and the Organizational Social Responsibility is studied based on a model that considers the interest of the majority-owners-block-family and CEO about the firm outlays for the Organizational Social Responsibility. The presentation is built as follows: first, central issues of the disciplinary context are shown. They are centered on placing the Corporate Governance-Organizational Social Responsibility relationship in Multilatinas among the organizational discussion. Second, the literature review explains the conceptual frame to visualize both the relationship mentioned above and the fieldwork. This part sets the theoretical model used as a referent. Finally, the case is described, discussed and the conclusions incorporated. The findings suggest that the CEO – owner agency problem in this Multilatina is not significant enough to become the main reason to alter the relationship between Corporate Governance and Organizational Social Responsibility.

This study's purpose was to investigate if misconceptions lead to conflicts and increase attention among scholars for further research as well. Although misconception is one of the roots of conflicts is somehow accepted, especially by the practitioners, there are not many empirical studies conducted to investigate if there is a relationship between misconception and conflicts. This study is prepared on a small scale as a starting point. To explore the subject better case study methodology is used.  Two different studies conducted to be able to compare and analyze the situation among the groups.  One group is taken as in-group and the other group is taken as out-group. This study's findings revealed that misconception leads to conflict at workplaces and to a hostile work environment. "We vs. them" situation among the groups and intergroup conflicts are observed. Conclusion and limitation are discussed.
