The research in this article sheds light on issues related to the evolution of the national situation of the natural movement of the population from January 2019 to May 2021, given the registrations made at the civil registry services in Romania on births, deaths, marriages and divorces, aiming to make a comparison between the period before the pandemic and the period after its onset in our country, in March 2020. We want to see if the number of the four life events mentioned above was really influenced by the pandemic and thus increased or decreased significantly. Also, the study of the natural movement of the population in Romania, under the spectrum of the current health crisis is of major importance, given that the pandemic has visible effects on the acceleration of deaths in people with various comorbidities.

The priority objective of the authorities in the context of the current health crisis is to maintain a balance between protecting the health of the population and the functioning of social systems as close as possible to normal. Regarding the educational system, the closure of educational institutions or the conduct of classes in an alternative or "hybrid" manner (some students will be physically present in classrooms and another will be online for certain periods of time) are measures by which it is protected. the health of students and teachers and which are part of the "normalization" of the functionality of the system. In this paper we intend to analyze some of the challenges that the education system must respond. The data we will use in this material from national and international research and INS and Eurostat data.

PurposeThe control of particularly virulent communicable diseases such as COVID-19 can be considered a global public good. Unabated contagion, both within and across borders, can result in a global public bad. More effective control – such as by flattening the epidemiological curve – could prevent severe social and economic disruption by allowing domestic health and social protection systems to more adequately respond to the health crisis. This article elaborates on some of the main elements of counter COVID-19 responses, drawing on emerging international good practices. While a full evaluation of policy effectiveness is still forthcoming, it is critical to review and synthesize the emerging lessons and evidence even this early.Design/methodology/approachThis article reviews the international good practices in counter COVID-19 responses across countries.FindingsConcerted efforts across borders, such as by sharing data and collaborating in research and by coordinating international support for countercyclical economic and health responses at the national level, are some of the options for countering COVID-19 at the international level. Within countries, more inclusive social protection and health systems, combined with countercyclical economic policies, and concerted behavioral changes tend to produce more effective collective action against the spread of the disease.Research limitations/implicationsThis study is based on a review of emerging responses to the health crisis.Practical implicationsThe policies and practices reviewed in this paper could feed into better-informed crisis responses to COVID-19 and other types of health shocks.Originality/valueThis study is among the first general reviews of policy responses to the COVID-19 health crisis.

Background: In response to the potentially concurrent mental health crisis due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there have been ongoing mental health policies put in place in China. This review aims to systematically synthesize the implemented national-level mental health policies released by the Chinese government during the COVID-19 outbreak, and summarize the implementation of those mental health policies. Methods: Six databases and two websites were systematically searched, including published studies and gray literature published between December 1, 2019 and October 29, 2020.Results: A total of 40 studies were included. Among them, 19 were national-level policies on mental health released by the Chinese government, and 21 studies reported data on the implementation of those mental health policies. Mental health policies were issued for COVID-19 patients, suspected cases, medical staff, the general population, patients with mental illness, and mental institutions. In the early stage of the COVID-19 epidemic, attention was paid to psychological crisis intervention. In the later stage of the epidemic, the government focused mainly on psychological rehabilitation. During the COVID-19 outbreak, more than 500 psychiatrists from all over China were sent to Wuhan, about 625 hotlines were notified in 31 provinces, several online psychological consultation platforms were established, social software such as TikTok, Weibo, and WeChat were used for psychological education, and many books on mental health were published. Responding quickly, maximizing the use of resources, and emphasizing the importance of policy evaluation and implementation quality were characteristics of the mental health policies developed during the COVID-19 outbreak. Challenges facing China include a low rate of mental health service utilization, a lack of evaluation data on policy effects, and no existing national-level emergency response system and designated workforce to provide psychological crisis interventions during a national emergency or disaster. Conclusions: This review suggests that China has responded quickly and comprehensively to a possible mental health crisis during the COVID-19 outbreak, appropriate mental health policies were released for different members of the population. As the epidemic situation continues to change, the focus of mental health policies has been adjusted accordingly. However, we should note that there has been a lack of separate policies for specific mental health issues during the COVID-19 outbreak.

In Spain, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the various regions of the country differently. The availability of reliable and up-to-date information has proved to be fundamental for the management of this health crisis. However, especially during the first wave of the pandemic (February–August 2020), the disparity in the recording criteria and in the timing of providing these figures to the central government created controversy and confusion regarding the real dimension of the pandemic. It is therefore necessary to have objective and homogeneous criteria at the national level to guide health managers in the correct recording and evaluation of the magnitude of the pandemic. Within this context, we propose using Benford’s Law as an auditing tool to monitor the reliability of the number of daily COVID-related deaths to identify possible deviations from the expected trend.

Abstract .The current health situation has hampered many face-to-face training processes, affecting Professional Synthesis Practices (PSP) and causing students to complete their Training Process (TP) in virtually. The objective of the investigation was to know the perception of students regarding the Virtual Practice of Professional Synthesis. The methodology had a quantitative approach and the data was collected through a descriptive survey, applied to 47 Physical Education (PE) teachers who graduated from a Chilean university during 2020. It is concluded that the graduates were prepared to the changes that occurred during the health crisis, accepting the situation given this year and adapting to it, which should be considered as an opportunity for innovation in the subject.

Miguel Ángel Hernández approaches the nap as a resistance in the everyday. Including theory, literature, art and autobiography (as the author presents himself as a good practitioner of these naps), we are immersed in a map of references on napping that are looked at from the current health crisis situation. His writing has the capacity to come down to our contexts, creating in the reader a sense of commonality, of cultural ties and social links marked by the need to rethink from this moment of collective rest (even if each one practices it at home) after midday. In this review we will focus especially on his way of interweaving this exercise of first-person memory with artistic and theoretical references, being coherent with a writing format based on annotations that are much more horizontal and open than a rigorously bounded investigation.

In this paper, we provide early insights about a rethinking of the dominant logic of circular economy (CE) systems, which are described by the literature as still too strongly focused on the circularity of physical resources primarily for economic and environmental benefits. We could observe that the traditional narrative of the CE is being challenged by new strategies that include the relationships among stakeholders and the reallocation of stakeholder roles. This is even more evident in the current health crisis, COVID-19. Circular economy can have higher integrated impacts beyond the mere economic and environmental spheres if it is conceptualized as an open and dynamic loop of relationships, where stakeholders’ power, roles and responsibilities overlap and converge into an emergent joint-value creation process.

Diagnosis of occupational diseases is an interdisciplinary process that requires special knowledge of medicine and other areas related to health and safety at work. So too is their diagnosis and treatment the responsibility of occupational health specialists. The recognition of occupational diseases in Croatia is regulated by the Law on the List of Occupational Diseases, while diagnosis is carried out according to modern occupational health criteria, which includes determining the clinical picture of the disease and the damage caused by the work process. The current health crisis caused by the pandemic of the new infectious disease COVID-19 points us to several challenges in the field of health and safety at work in the Republic of Croatia, including the administrative problem of reporting and recognising occupational diseases caused by COVID-19. At the beginning of April 2020, an amendment to the Regulation on Infectious Diseases completely removed all administrative barriers to the recognition of occupational diseases caused by COVID-19 infection.

Abstract The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has questioned the dominant international security strategies, and also highlighted the immense contradictions in our global way of life. From a human security perspective, this investigation analyses the pandemic as a risk and threat to social life on a global scale. The conceptual categories of human security and global risk are used to understand the inequalities, structural violence and vulnerabilities that accompany the health emergency and make it a total social crisis. Some of the main risk trends that the pandemic represents are quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. It is proposed that the global pandemic is leading to the suppression of the loopholes of security and certainty provided by modernity, whose contradictions have led us to suffer the most important planetary catastrophe in recent history. Likewise, the pandemic has shown that the strategies anchored to traditional security are not the most appropriate to face the consequences that the current health crisis will have. Therefore, to respond to these risks and threats, it is essential to develop new perspectives on security.

AbstractUsing the Swiss Household Panel, we examine whether experiencing relationship dissolution, unemployment, or a health crisis increases support for the Swiss People’s Party (SVP). Fixed effects models shows this to be the case. Changes in financial resources, attitudes or trust in the government cannot explain this effect. Finally, we test whether increased support for the SVP following these events is more likely among individuals with lower trust and income levels and with views similar of those of the SVP. We find that individuals with traditional gender values are more likely to support the SVP after separation.
