This paper aims to present a methodological approach to align the strategic plans among Institutions in the area of Higher Education. It adopts an eight-phase research framework. It is a qualitative study which adopts a deductive and exploratory research strategy through the analysis of some institution's strategic plans and other relevant documents to propose a methodological approach for the alignment. Its contribution shall enable HEIs to improve synergy which is essential for achieving efficiency, efficacy and long-term sustainability in the light of the recent challenges facing their environment, considering that the strategy execution and its implementation has been considered much more difficult and complicated to overcome. Particular it shall contribute to alignment among other HEIs which have been subject to mergers and acquisitions processes, in the recent years.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the GAD-aligned Programs, Projects, and Activities' gender-related mandated functions and integration. To obtain the necessary information on individuals in Higher Education Institutions based on specific traits and standards and clearly define the institution's long-term direction based on the institution's aims and objectives. Gender and Development focus on Gender Mainstreaming, which is a technique that incorporates both gender concerns and practices into the strategy, execution, supervision, and evaluation of guidelines, processes, plans, and activities at all levels, ensuring that both genders benefit equally. The study used a descriptive methodology to measure the extent to which gender-related activities integrated into mainstreaming mandatory functions and perceptions on GAD-aligned PPAs. There is no significant link between mandated outcome based on HEI-moderated (LUC or SUC) Instruction, Research, Extension, and Resource Management and perceived level of integration on the gender-related functions of Gender and Development Programs, Activities, and Projects, and GAD-aligned PPAs in mainstreaming. The mainstream GAD-aligned PPAs at the university do not predict the integration of GAD-related functions. The SUC/LUC category did not affect the relationship between the GAD-aligned PPAs and the level of integration when it approached the identified indicators.

OBJECTIVE: To describe the methodological approach adopted to build a database of long-term care facilities (LCTFs) in Brazil. METHODS: This exploratory research was conducted for 12 months, between August 2020 and July 2021, based on primarily publicly accessible data. First, the Unified Social Assistance System (Sistema Único de Assistência Social [SUAS]) database from 2019 was adopted as the primary source of information. In addition, public agencies and managers were consulted and invited to share their databases, while researchers and private entities collaborated by making their spreadsheets available. Data were organized in spreadsheets for each Brazilian state. LTCFs not catering to older adults (aged 60 years and over) were excluded. Duplicate data were excluded when overlaps were identified. RESULTS: This brief communication describes the methodology adopted for mapping the current status of Brazilian LTCFs. Despite its caveats, this study represents an important advance in the identification, characterization, and monitoring of these services nationwide. A total of 5769 facilities were found in the 2019 SUAS census. After excluding facilities not caring for residents aged 60 years or over, this number decreased to 2381 LTCFs. The consolidation and filtering of information from multiple data sources led to the identification of 7029 LTCFs throughout the country. CONCLUSION: Building a solid database was paramount to devising a national policy on long-term care. By including multiple sources, the scope of this survey was wider than all previous efforts and constituted an unprecedented collaborative experience in the country, including the potential to become the first national dataset for the Brazilian LTC sector.

This article aims to establish the state of the art of governability in the family business through a literature review. Carrying out an exploratory research strategy of the field of family firms and family business, based on Bourdieu's "theory of practice", it enabled us to better understand the conceptualizations of family business, its underlying concepts and or assumptions, and hence contribute to the construction of organized and structured knowledge in this field. This is a complex and multifaceted theme that aims to balance the sovereign, executive and supervisory powers between the family business and with your own business. Some of our main contributions are: that balance depends on the stages of family development and it involves the structures, processes and policies that shape it, the effect of the relationships of the several members of the family business, and its commitment and involvement in the success of the business in the long-term success. These issues are intended to be included in an integrative model of governability, sufficiently generic and comprehensive so that it can be applied to any type of business family. The establishment experiences of how eight campus Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) support offices were examined using a qualitative research framework. Each GLBT office provided documentation of its experiences and these documents were analyzed using both deductive and inductive qualitative coding strategies to discover the common themes and "lessons learned." The themes of "establishment" were linked to a set of strategies and tactics documented in literature as being important to the process of institutional change within higher education.

Quality assurance has been introduced and developed into Vietnam for almost 15 years. The importation of such a concept from other countries with different cultures may result in resistance in some ways. This study explores quality assurance arrangements at three institutions of higher education in Vietnam, a Confucian heritage country, as perceived by academic leaders, quality assurance practitioners, and academics to respond to quality assurance policies from the government. The methodological approach taken in this research is a multiple case study. A qualitative approach was used to explore quality assurance practices at three institutions. Data collected from documentation and in-depth interviews were analysed for patterns and themes. It was found that centralism and large power distance of a Confucian collectivist country such as Vietnam significantly influenced the government's attempts to reform higher education for quality improvement. Culturally appropriate measures from the bottom level with long-term strategies should be considered to assure and improve quality, including the shift to decentralisation in higher education.

This paper focuses on gendered mobilities of highly skilled researchers working abroad. It is based on an empirical qualitative study that explored the mobility aspirations of Austrian scientists who were working in the United States at the time they were interviewed. Supported by a case study, the paper demonstrates how a qualitative research strategy including graphic drawings sketched by the interviewed persons can help us gain a better understanding of the gendered importance of social relations for the future mobility aspirations of scientists working abroad.

This paper explores the relationship between education and labour market positioning in The Hague, a Dutch city with a unique labour market. One of the main minority groups, Turkish-Dutch, is the focus in this qualitative study on higher educated minorities and their labour market success. Interviews reveal that the obstacles the respondents face are linked to discrimination and network limitation. The respondents perceive “personal characteristics” as the most important tool to overcoming the obstacles. Education does not only increase their professional skills, but also widens their networks. The Dutch education system facilitates the chances of minorities in higher education through the “layering” of degrees.

Three levels of planning can be distinguished in grassland farming: strategic, tactical and operational. The purpose of strategic planning is to achieve a sustainable long-term fit of the farm business with its physical, social and financial environment. In pastoral farming, this essentially means developing plans that maximise and best match pasture growth with animal demand, while generating sufficient income to maintain or enhance farm resources and improvements, and attain personal and financial goals. Strategic plans relate to the whole farm business and are focused on the means to achieve future needs. They should be routinely (at least annually) reviewed and monitored for effectiveness through key performance indicators (e.g., Economic Farm Surplus) that enable progress toward goals to be measured in a timely and cost-effective manner. Failure to link strategy with control is likely to result in unfulfilled plans. Keywords: management, performance
