Background: Mung bean is important pulse crop in India due to its nutritional value. Its grain contains protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin and minerals therefore human uses it in various ways in food. Mung bean crop cultivated in kharif, rabi and summer season in India. Various species of insect pests are infested to mung bean crop and cause very harmful effect to crop and farmer. These pests decrease productivity and quality of mung bean. Methods: Field experiment was carried out for the study of seasonal incidence of insect pests on RMG-62 variety of green gram during kharif season 2019. Mung bean was grown on a plot size of 25 m × 25m with 50 cm row to row and 20 cm plant to plant spacing. Randomly selected 20 plants from weekly interval to record population of insect pests. The population of jassid and whitefly was recorded by counting number of pests on 2 upper, 2 middle and 2 lower leaves of a plant whereas population of aphid was recorded by counting number of aphid on 10 cm twig/plant. Result: The mean population of aphid, jassid and whitefly were recorded. Incidence of aphid started during 33th standard week with 0.9 aphid/10cm twig/plant, jassid and whitefly started during 32th standard week with 0.3 jassid/6 leaves/plant and 2.1 whitefly/6 leaves/plant, respectively. Peak mean population of aphid, jassid and whitefly reached during 36th standard week with 10.2 aphid/10cm twig/plant, 10.1 jassid/6 leaves/plant and 14.1 whitefly/6 leaves/plant, respectively. Simultaneously six species of insect pests also infested green gram, these were Mylabris pustulata, Helicoverpa armigera, Trichoplusia ni., Lampides boeticus, Spoladea recurvalis and Diaphania indica. The population of aphid, jassid and whitefly positively correlated with temperature. Population of aphid and whitefly had positive correlation with humidity, whereas jassid population had positive correlation with minimum humidity and negative correlation with maximum and average humidity. All three pests expressed negative correlation with rainfall.

Studies on seasonal incidence of sucking insect pests carried out with three dates of sowing viz., early (July 15th), normal (July 30th) and late (August 15th) revealed that the incidence of leafhoppers, aphids and thrips started from 5 to 14 DAS (days after sowing) and continued till harvesting. In early sown crop, the incidence of leafhoppers started from 31 SW and incidence of aphids and thrips started from 30 SW and continued up to 42 and 43 SW for leafhoppers and aphids, respectively and 41 SW for thrips. In normal sown crop, incidence of leafhoppers and aphids started from 32 SW and incidence of thrips started from 31 SW and continued till the end of 45 SW for all the three pests. In late sown crop, the incidence of leafhoppers started from 35 SW and incidence of aphids and thrips started from 34 SW and continued up to 46 and 47 SW for leafhoppers and aphids, respectively and 46 SW for thrips. Correlation studies revealed that incidence of leafhoppers exhibited significant negative correlation with maximum temperature (r = -0.467, -0.442 and -0.464) and rainfall (r = -0.518, -0.529 and -0.742) during all the three dates of sowing (early, normal and late, respectively) and significant negative correlation with minimum temperature in late sown crop (r = -0.448). Aphids exhibited significant negative correlation with maximum temperature (r = -0.469, -0.521 and -0.472) and rainfall (r = -0.443, -0.450 and  -0.721) in all the three dates of sowing (early, normal and late, respectively) while significant negative correlation with minimum temperature in early and late sown crop with r values -0.519 and -0.324.  Thrips exhibited significant positive correlation with maximum temperature (r = 0.522, 0.459 and 0.447), significant negative correlation with rainfall (r = -0.458, -0.465 and -0.451) during three dates of sowing (early, normal and late, respectively) while significant negative correlation with relative humidity in early sown crop (r = -0.616) and significant positive correlation with minimum temperature in early sown crop (r = 0.463).

Based on monitoring data of air pollution index (API) and meteorological data from January 2009 to December 2012 in Xingtai, the variation characteristics of PM10mass concentration were analyzed and the relationships between PM10mass concentration and air pressure, wind speed, temperature, vapor pressure, relative humid and sunshine duration were investigated for four seasons using SPSS software. The results showed that the PM10mass concentration was 86.5, 83.3, 85.0 and 80.4 μg m­3, and the differences were not obvious tending to be a weak downward trend from 2009 to 2012. The percentage of the excellent and good air quality was high during the period and the mild and light pollution mainly appeared in December. The PM10mass concentration showed significant seasonal variations with a higher value in winter and fall and a lower value in spring and summer. The relationship between PM10mass concentration and meteorological factors showed some differences in different seasons. The PM10mass concentration had negative correlation with air pressure and sunshine duration and positive correlation with vapor pressure, temperature and wind speed in spring. The PM10mass concentration was negatively correlated with air pressure and sunshine duration, but positively correlated with vapor pressure and temperature in summer. The PM10mass concentration was negatively correlated with temperature, wind speed, vapor pressure and sunshine duration in fall. The PM10mass concentration had negative correlation with wind speed, sunshine duration and air pressure and positive correlation with vapor pressure and relative humidity in winter.

The experiment was conducted to know the abundance of major insect pests on 15 mungbean varieties viz., BARI Mung-1, BARI Mung-2, BARI Mung-3, BARI Mung-4, BARI Mung-5, BARI Mung-6, BINA Moog-4, BINA Moog-5, BINA Moog-6, BINA Moog-7, BINA Moog-8, BU Mug-1, BU Mug-2, BU Mug-4 and Patuakhali local Mung and the role of weather parameters on the population mobility of insects at the farmer’s field of sadar upazila of Patuakhali district, Bangladesh during late Robi season 2016. Variety BARI Mung-4 had the lowest number of leaf folder while variety BARI Mung-6 had the highest number of leaf folder indicating higher susceptibility to leaf folder. Variety BARI Mung-4 had the lowest number of gram pod borer and BARI Mung- 6 had the highest abundance of gram pod borer followed by BINA Moog-7. Variety BINA Moog-4 had the lowest number of legume pod borer and BARI Mung-6 had the highest abundance of legume pod borer followed by BINA Moog-7. Population of leaf folder showed a negative correlation (R2= -0.020) with temperature. Similarly, gram pod borer (R2= -0.317) and legume pod borer (R2= -0.014) showed a negative correlation with temperature. In case of relative humidity, population of leaf folder (R2= -0.175) showed a negative correlation while gram pod borer showed a positive correlation (R2= 0.031) but legume pod borer (R2= -0.086) showed a negative correlation.

The present study was focusing to characterize the particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) at the roadside of First Penang Bridge and the associated meteorological parameters influence such as precipitation, temperature, and relative humidity. The study was conducted by focusing on the roadside area of First Penang Bridge (N05°21.375’; E100°23.584’). A total of 12 samples thrice per month for each particulate matter size were collected starting from June 2015 to September 2015. Meteorological data were obtained from the Meteorological Department of Penang on a daily basis and 24-hours averages. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted in characterizing the relationship between particulate matter concentrations and the target meteorological parameters. Results showed that PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations ranged between 18.06 – 79.51 ?g/m3 and 22.38 – 130.90 ?g/m3 with the overall mean concentration of 39.35 ?g/m3 for PM2.5 and 45.24 ?g/m3 for PM10. For the PM2.5, weak negative correlation was obtained between PM and precipitation (r = -0.462), strong negative correlation with relative humidity (r = -0.799) and weak positive correlation between temperature (r = 0.456). PM10 showed weak negative correlation between PM with temperature (r = -0.061) and precipitation (r = -0.022), and strong positive correlation between PM and relative humidity (r = 0.130).

The present investigation was undertaken to find the impact of abiotic factors on seasonal incidence and sucking pest complex of brinjal under field conditions during kharif 2015-2016. The incidence of leaf hopper population (2.80 Lh/L i.e., Leaf hopper mean population/leaf) was noticed during 34th standard week and reached peak by 40th standard week (5.00 Lh/L) (October) whereas the aphid population was noticed during the 34th standard week (3.00 Lh/L) and peak population observed during the 40th standard week (4.60 Lh/L) (October). Correlation studies showed that among the various abiotic factors, maximum temperature showed highly significant positive correlation (r= 0.77) and sunshine hours (r = 0.61) showed significant positive correlation with the leaf hopper population. In case of aphid population, maximum temperature showed significant positive correlation (r = 0.70), rainfall showed highly significant negative correlation (r = -0.74) and relative humidity evening (r = -0.59) showed significant negative correlation with aphid population. The present investigations will give a brief idea about how the abiotic factors influencing the sucking pests of brinjal.

The article deals with the interconnection and interdependence of phraseological semantic fields of Russian study of aphorisms in synchronic and in diachronic approaches. The correlation of phraseological semantic fields of Russian study of aphorisms is considered as their interdependence due to various factors (linguistic and extra-linguistic ones). The correlation of the phraseological semantic fields of Russian study of aphorisms is manifested in the existence of many antinomies. The natural linguistic antinomies of life / death / immortality or war / peace, or good / evil, or friend / enemy, or villainy / nobility are reflected in Russian aphorisms and have entered the corresponding phraseological semantic fields. The corpus of Russian study of aphorisms containsnot only antinomic aphorisms, but also antinomic relations that extend to the level of language and speech. Therefore, in Russian study of aphorisms there are phraseological semantic fields that implement these antinomies. In addition to the antinomic phraseological semantic fields in the corpus of classical Russian study of aphorisms there are other types of correlations. The keywords (concepts) of many phraseological semantic fields are closely thematically connected. When the number of units from one field is changed, the number of units in another phraseological semantic field also changes. Most phraseological semantic fields of Russian study of aphorisms do not show a zero correlation in either synchronic or diachronic approaches. This is due to, first of all, the universality of the aphoristic theme, with all the ideological and thematic uniqueness of the sayings used by Russian writers. However, a few phraseological and semantic fields of aphorisms by Russian writers may show a negative correlation, which is due to the diversity of the thematic groups that comprise them. A positive correlation of phraseological semantic fields, the most significant in the number of their constituent components, shows deep internal linguistic systemic connections in Russian classical study of aphorisms.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has quickly developed into a worldwide pandemic. Mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 genome may affect various aspects of the disease including fatality ratio. In this study, 553,518 SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences isolated from patients from continents for the period 1 December 2020 to 15 March 2021 were comprehensively analyzed and a total of 82 mutations were identified concerning the reference sequence. In addition, associations between the mutations and the case fatality ratio (CFR), cases per million and deaths per million, were examined. The mutations having the highest frequencies among different continents were Spike_D614G and NSP12_P323L. Among the identified mutations, NSP2_T153M, NSP14_I42V and Spike_L18F mutations showed a positive correlation to CFR. While the NSP13_Y541C, NSP3_T73I and NSP3_Q180H mutations demonstrated a negative correlation to CFR. The Spike_D614G and NSP12_P323L mutations showed a positive correlation to deaths per million. The NSP3_T1198K, NS8_L84S and NSP12_A97V mutations showed a significant negative correlation to deaths per million. The NSP12_P323L and Spike_D614G mutations showed a positive correlation to the number of cases per million. In contrast, NS8_L84S and NSP12_A97V mutations showed a negative correlation to the number of cases per million. In addition, among the identified clades, none showed a significant correlation to CFR. The G, GR, GV, S clades showed a significant positive correlation to deaths per million. The GR and S clades showed a positive correlation to number of cases per million. The clades having the highest frequencies among continents were G, followed by GH and GR. These findings should be taken into consideration during epidemiological surveys of the virus and vaccine development.

Abstract Background The precise timings of evoked potentials in evaluating the functional outcome of stroke have remained indistinct. Few studies in the Indian context have studied the outcome of early prognosis of stroke utilizing evoked potentials. Objective The aim of this study was to determine somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) and brain stem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs), their timing and abnormalities in acute ischemic stroke involving the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory and to correlate SSEP and BAEP with the functional outcome (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), modified Rankin scale (mRS) and Barthel’s index) at 3 months. Methods MCA territory involved acute ischemic stroke patients (n = 30) presenting consecutively to the hospital within 3 days of symptoms onset were included. Details about clinical symptoms, neurological examination, treatment, NIHSS score, mRS scores were collected at the time of admission. All patients underwent imaging of the brain and were subjected to SSEP and BAEP on two occasions, first at 1 to 3 days and second at 4 to 7 days from the onset of stroke. At 3 months of follow-up, NIHSS, mRS, and Barthel’s index were recorded. Results P37 and N20 amplitude had a strong negative correlation (at 1–3 and 4–7 days) with NIHSS at admission, NIHSS at 3 months, mRS at admission, and mRS at 3 months and a significant positive correlation with Barthel’s index (p < 0.0001). BAEP wave V had a negative correlation (at 1–3 and 4–7 days) with NIHSS at admission, NIHSS at 3 months, mRS at admission, and mRS at 3 months and a positive correlation with Barthel’s index (p < 0.0001). Conclusion SSEP abnormalities recorded on days 4 to 7 from onset of stroke are more significant than those recorded within 1 to 3 days of onset of stroke; hence, the timing of 4 to 7 days after stroke onset can be considered as better for predicting functional outcome.

BACKGROUND/AIM: The newly described proteins adropin and irisin are a highly conserved polypeptide that plays essential roles in metabolic and energy homeostasis, insulin resistance, and fat browning. The aim of this study is to evaluate the circulating levels of serum adropin and irisin in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients and also to elucidate possible relationships between serum adropin and irisin levels with anthropometric obesity indices and biochemical parameters. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Single-center prospective observational study included 90 T2DM patients referred to the diabetes outpatient clinic. Height, weight, and waist circumference (WC) were measured. Body mass index (BMI) and waist to height ratio (WHtR) were calculated. Fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, serum lipids, creatinine, urea, and blood urea nitrogen were evaluated. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was calculated, serum adropin and irisin were evaluated. RESULTS: The results showed a significant positive correlation between adropin and irisin in females but not in males (r = 0.311; P = 0.042). In males’ group, serum adropin levels showed significant negative correlation with serum glucose (–0.423, P = <  0.05), HbA1C (–0.364, P = <  0.05), and GFR (–0.355, P = <  0.05). In contrast, creatinine was showed a significant positive correlation with adropin in males (0.381, P = <  0.05). In females’ group, adropin showed a significant negative correlation with weight (–0.371, P = <  0.05), BMI (–0.349, P = <  0.05), WC (–0.402, P = <  0.01), and WHtR (–0.398, P = <  0.01). Contrary, in males’ group, serum irisin levels showed significant positive correlation with weight (0.338, P = <  0.05), BMI (0.332, P = <  0.05), WC (0.409, P = <  0.01), and WHtR (0.432, P = <  0.01). CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that, in T2DM patients, circulating serum adrpoin correlated negatively with anthropometric obesity indices of obesity in females, while serum irisin was positively correlated with anthropometric obesity indices of obesity in males.

SynopsisFasting plasma levels of tryptophan, kynurenine and the pteridines, neopterin and tetrahydrobiopterin were measured in seven patients with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS) and 10 healthy controls. Plasma kynurenine was significantly elevated in the GTS patients. The lowest patient value was higher than the highest control value. Values for tryptophan, neopterin and tetrahydrobiopterin were similar in TS patients and controls. However, in TS patients only, there was a significant negative correlation between tryptophan and neopterin and a significant positive correlation between kynurenine and neopterin when controlling for tryptophan. This finding indicates that activation of cellular immune processes is a possible explanation for the rise in plasma kynurenine.
