The paper presents an analysis of official statistics of the “Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Vladimir Region” on parasitic diseases of the population of the region in 2000-2016. Analysis of the statistical material showed the following groups of parasitic diseases to be registered in the territory of the region, depending on the systematic belonging of the pathogen: protozoosis, helminthiases, acariases, and insectoses. The greatest morbidity in the region among parasitic diseases is in enterobiosis and pediculosis, the main proportion of which falls on children. The conducted ranking of the territory with the subsequent construction of maps for each nosology made it possible to identify the area’s most unfavorable both for the individual.

Introduction The celebrated diarist Samuel Pepys kept a detailed diary of exceptional candour throughout the years of The Great Plague of 1665, in which he recorded his own observations as well as the reactions of society and the medical profession to this unprecedented event. In this paper we examine his diaries at the time of the plague, as well as in the proceeding years and consider how the experiences of Pepys are similar to our own experiences of the 2020 Coronavirus Epidemic. Method We examined the entire diaries of Samuel Pepys from 1664 to 1670, as well as supplementary source material, looking for all references to The Great Plague. Results and Conclusion: Though written over 350 years ago the diaries paint a very co-orientated response of society to The Plague. Accurate official statistics were available weekly, isolation was imposed and the government made provision for ‘pest houses' to be set up. Pepys is grateful to the doctors who remain in London but critical of the majority who flee the city. Pepys's own reactions, which progress from fear of contracting the disease to fear for his business interests, mirror today's reaction to The 2020 Coronavirus Epidemic.

SUMMARYThere are many reasons why detection of parasites of medical and veterinary importance is vital and where novel diagnostic and surveillance tools are required. From a medical perspective alone, these originate from a desire for better clinical management and rational use of medications. Diagnosis can be at the individual-level, at close to patient settings in testing a clinical suspicion or at the community-level, perhaps in front of a computer screen, in classification of endemic areas and devising appropriate control interventions. Thus diagnostics for parasitic diseases has a broad remit as parasites are not only tied with their definitive hosts but also in some cases with their vectors/intermediate hosts. Application of current diagnostic tools and decision algorithms in sustaining control programmes, or in elimination settings, can be problematic and even ill-fitting. For example in resource-limited settings, are current diagnostic tools sufficiently robust for operational use at scale or are they confounded by on-the-ground realities; are the diagnostic algorithms underlying public health interventions always understood and well-received within communities which are targeted for control? Within this Special Issue (SI) covering a variety of diseases and diagnostic settings some answers are forthcoming. An important theme, however, throughout the SI is to acknowledge that cross-talk and continuous feedback between development and application of diagnostic tests is crucial if they are to be used effectively and appropriately.

The following paper deals with essential characteristics of various sides and components of sports training in swimming on the basis of a retrospective analysis of scientific and methodical literature. The authors describe a number of interrelated elements that provide a swimmers training mechanism and investigate the key components that reveal the content of sports training process of swimmers: training process planning; training process monitoring, athletes state of health; monitoring data analysis and synthesis and timely adjustments application in planning. The authors think that it is important to adjust parameters of training load during training sessions, taking into account the individual capabilities of swimmers and determining the choice of the most effective tools and methods. Specialized literature data study made the authors conclude that the design management of sports training begins with a comprehensive analysis of chosen sport current state and existing development trends evaluation in the context of specific sports activity conditions. As a result the authors note that the functioning scheme of sports training management structural components in swimming involves cyclical process management and forecasting mechanisms on the basis of timely adjustments of specific objectives and systems and correction of athletes dynamically changing potential.

AIM. The aim of this article is to assess the epidemiological situation of Hepatitis A in Poland in 2016 with the regard to the recent years. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The assessment was conducted based on the results of the analysis of data from the bulletins “Infectious diseases and poisonings in Poland in 2016” and “Vaccinations in Poland in 2016”, as well as information from the individual case- questionnaires and reports from epidemiological investigations in outbreaks of hepatitis A, submitted by the sanitary-epidemiological stations to the Department of Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases and Surveillance in NIPH-NIH. RESULTS. In 2016 in Poland there were 35 cases of hepatitis A registered. Incidence per 100 000 inhabitants in the whole country was 0.09, but in different voivodeships varied from 0.03 (in Wielkopolskie voivodeship) to 0.28 (in podkarpackie voivodeship). The incidence among male was slightly higher than women and was 0.11 and 0.08/100 000 respectively. CONCLUSIONS. In 2016 a decrease in the incidence and percentage of imported cases was observed (comparing it to the previous year). Because of the increasing part of population prone to infection good epidemiological situation concerning HAV in Poland paradoxically increases the risk of an occurrence of HAV epidemic, especially in the scope of ongoing large multistate HAV outbreak among MSM. In relation to this situation the enhancement of surveillance over this disease and undertaking anti-epidemic actions gains particular importance, especially when it comes to promoting vaccinations among members of risk groups.

Epizootological and epidemiological situation on anthrax in the Republic was estimated. GIS-technologies were used for drawing up a data base of the incidence in humans and animals and cadastre of areas permanently infected with anthrax. A connection between soil and climatic conditions and persistence of anthrax was traced. It has been established, that currently the incidence of anthrax is sporadic in character and depends for the most part on timely carrying out preventive measures.

The retrospective analysis of the term and phenomenon of "virtual educational space" revealed the need to develop a theoretical model of using the virtual educational environment, identifying ways of its effective application, where the implementation of international educational activities is not an exception. In addition, the virtualization of the educational environment also causes a certain number of threats regarding the risks of functioning in the conditions of real society and the self-identity of the individual due to, so to speak, virtual transitions from one virtual reality to another and existence in reality.

The term "information and psychological security" is interpreted as the need to ensure the vital interests of the individual, society and social groups. The article pays special attention to methods of information and psychological impact on social processes and their negative and positive characteristics.

The reliability and validity of a method of estimating violent behaviour at an interview is explored and discussed. Methods of studying violent behaviour have tended at one extreme to be by analysis of official statistics and at the other by a non-quantitative casework style of approach to the individual offender. Attempts to measure violent behaviour from interview accounts have been far less frequent and the present paper describes the use of this method in groups of men in prison and boys in Borstal.
