This article shows the need to include the teaching of healthy lifestyles — Wellness — in student’s education. Nowadays, the health of students is significantly deteriorating due to a sedentary lifestyle, a violation of the day and sleep patterns, and an increase in mental stress. We know the impact of health on academic performance, so the importance of this training should be noted. Wellness is the concept of a healthy lifestyle, the study of the combination of physical and spiritual health, healthy eating, adequate physical exertion and the elimination of bad habits. The concept of Wellness was introduced into practice by the American doctor Halbert Donne in 1959, he also formulated the basic principles of a healthy lifestyle. In the 1960s, wellness gained great popularity, first in professional circles, and then in wide circles of American society, thanks to the numerous publications of Halbert Donne, John Travis, Donald Ardell and Gerhart Hettler. The introduction of the concept of Wellness in the training of students leads to an increase in interest in the lessons of physical culture. And, to a comprehensive improvement in the quality of life and health, student performance. Indeed, at the present time, the following causes of deterioration in the health of the young generation can be identified: neuro–psychological stress; mental fatigue; violation of work and rest; sleep disturbance; violation of the diet; bad habits; insufficient motor activity. The article describes the impact of the Mass Media on the formation of the worldview of the young. This impact may be positive or negative. On the one hand, the media educate young people and enhance their participation in public life. On the other hand, they may mislead or promote false values, and manipulate the young generation’s consciousness. What helps people not to get involved into the tried-and-true crowd manipulation scheme in the media landscape is critical thinking, whose lack results in inability to choose the right guidelines in the flow of false information provided by various Media. The authors emphasize the role of the state, which, regarding the needs of the society, should enculturate the young generation, as well as exercise tight control over communication in the global web and publications in the Internet Media and social networks. One of the directions of the state’s policy is expanding the geography of information and communication technologies, and the other is ensuring information security of the young in general and adolescents in particular. To provide this, the state develops organizational and legal mechanisms aimed at protecting children from harmful information in the web, and requirements for the content, its expert evidence and government control. The article demonstrates the results of a study carried out by the authors to assess the current youth Media and their influence on criminality. The key criterion for selecting participants of the focus group was young age, since the young are the most active and the least protected players in the media landscape. The sampling was made by random choice in order to ensure equal opportunities for participation in the study.

Introduction. The article is concerned with the impact of social microenvironment on the spiritual and moral upbringing of young people and its reflection in philosophical and pedagogical legacy of Russian émigrés in 1920s-1930s. The relevance of the problem is given by the fact that spiritual upbringing nowadays becomes one of the leading directions in the educational policy of the state. The study of positive historical and pedagogical experience in upbringing the young generation can greatly assist in the implementation of the policy of spiritual and moral education of children and young people. The purpose of this article is to analyze the spiritual and moral upbringing and its emotional and value aspects, as well as the influence of the social microenvironment (church, school, family, children’s and youth organizations) on the process of spiritual and moral upbringing of children in the works of philosophers and educators of Russian émigrés in 1920s-1930s. Materials and Methods. The methodological basis of the research was a systematic approach to understand the holistic pedagogical process and the scientific research devoted to the study of the philosophical and pedagogical heritage of Russian émigrés in 1920s-1930s. The main research method is the theoretical analysis of documentary and archival sources; pedagogical, psychological philosophical and historical literature on an investigated problem; the retrospective method, the method of interpretation (explanation, comparison, analogy), methods of synthesis and generalization, questionnaire. Results. The review of theoretical works and practical experience of philosophers and teachers of Russian émigrés convinces us that while working in the 1920s-1930s, they anticipated some areas of contemporary humanistic pedagogy with its focus on education based on universal moral values, humanization of education, and the focus on the emotional sphere of children in the education process. The leading methodological approach to spiritual and moral education, as it reflected in many philosophical and pedagogical works of Russian émigrés in the 1920s-1930s, is the stimulation of the moral feelings of the child, the actualization of his emotional sphere in the process of upbringing. This occurs in the process of organizing emotional and moral educational milieu which is conducive to the development of moral feelings. Discussion and Conclusions. The creation of the emotional and evaluative milieu was conceived in pedagogy of Russian emigration as an organization of pedagogically targeted influence of church, school and family on the development of the moral feelings, and as the organization of the life and work of children’s and youth organizations with the same objectives. The study of education and development of pedagogical theory and practice of the Russian émigrés will add to the historical context of culture and pedagogy of Russia unjustly forgotten ways of solving problems spiritual and moral education and patriotic upbringing of youth. It will make available to pedagogy ideas and concepts, reflecting universal and spiritual and national values.

Abstract Background Microsurgery is a specific surgical expertise that involves operating on very small structures, and requires the assistance of a magnifying device: a microscope or loupes. Several factors have been identified that could affect the quality of microsurgical performance in training or surgical procedures. Objective The objective of this study was to assess the impact of the selected factors – caffeine, alcohol and physical exercise – on a microsurgical task prior its performance. Methods Ten students from the 5th and 6th years of medical studies who had completed the advanced microsurgical course performed a “6-stitches test” on a latex glove spanned over a cup prior to and after consumption of caffeine, alcohol and performing physical exercises. The times taken to complete the task at baseline and post-exposure were recorded. Results The results of the study show a statistically significant positive effect of caffeine and a statistically significant negative effect of physical exercise on microsurgical performance when performed shortly before the task. Small dose of alcohol taken before the task showed had little effect on performance.

This article, which is based on a comparative telephone survey conducted in 2016, examines the relationship between social mobility experience and the life satisfaction of people aged 18 to 35 in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Using both objective and subjective measures of social mobility, we found that young people’s perceptions of their own social mobility and that of the entire youth population correlated positively with life satisfaction. However, the objective upward experiences of intragenerational and intergenerational mobility did not have a significant effect on life satisfaction. In addition, the objective upward experiences of individuals were found to be uncorrelated with the perceptions of their own social mobility and that of the entire youth population. These findings suggest that young people will not become more satisfied even if they themselves have actually experienced upward mobility, because their positive perception of social mobility depends on whether they can move upward to their desired status. It is the expected social mobility and the competence to achieve rather than the actual past mobility experience that could affect the life satisfaction of the young generation in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Purpose The Malaysian retail industry, which contributes toward almost 45 per cent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is on a downward trend. As such, the main purpose of this study is to improve the performance of the Malaysian retail industry through the incorporation of Industry 4.0 technologies. The incorporation of Industry 4.0 technologies in the retail industry has led to the emergence of Retail 4.0 which can also be defined as omni-channel retailing. Design/methodology/approach The adoption of Retail 4.0, which is a combination of omni-channel retailing and also novel technologies, has been proven to improve the performance of retailers in many countries. As such, the authors have given suggestions on how Retail 4.0 can be incorporated by Malaysian retailers for the betterment of the Malaysian retail industry. Findings Problems faced by retailers these days are boring `brick and mortar' stores, out of stock (OOS) issues, price discrepancy and long queues. Retail 4.0 has enabled retailers to overcome these problems by creating novel shopping experiences, better inventory management, and improved operational efficiency and also more informed decision making in real time. Limitations The incorporation of Industry 4.0 technologies in Malaysia is still in the infancy stage. As such, skilled professionals need to be brought in to help implement these technologies in the retail industry. Practical implications Omni-channel retailing and the usage of various technologies by `brick and mortar' stores is very appealing to Malaysia's Gen Y and Gen Z who make up 67 per cent of the country's population. The spending power of this young generation can help to boost the performance of the Malaysian retail industry. Originality/value To date, no known study has been done on the impact of Retail 4.0 on Malaysian retailers. The results of this study will be very valuable to managers who are keen to improve the performance of their respective retail channels.
