Interior design studios have an important place in interior architecture education. Because these studios are the environments that the student experiences with their knowledge about the profession within the scope of the project and various design approaches. The student also learns to manage the project process in a limited time frame while gaining design skills in this environment. The interior design project covered in this article was worked by the author at the Coburg Applied Sciences and Arts University in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany, during the fall semester of 2012-2013. The purpose of this article is to provide the other students and educators benefit in design education by putting forward the method observed in the project process and observed that the student is beneficial. "Conceptualization" is used as a method in the project. Based on the main concept of the project, the sub-concepts produced are scored as the dominance for each space, and the space-concept tables are created. Thus, the continuity of the design philosophy has been preserved from the determined concept to the final product. As a result, it has been observed that the table of definite design decisions in hand helps the student to use time efficiently and make quick decisions. Keywords: Interior design studio; interior design education; concept project; conceptual design; cemetery building

The design process in Interior Architecture education is the basis of all the studio courses and design-oriented courses. In this process, it is important for students to develop their creative thoughts and find different ideas. Students find it difficult to produce creative design ideas. As well as producing ideas, students also have difficulty in determining problem status and performing user analysis. In this respect, implementation of different methods and activities are important in the process. One of these methods is the integration of gamification into the design education. This education method was conducted as a workshop with a group of Interior Design students during the Spring term of 2018–2019 in İstanbul Şehir University. The students who took the project course for the first time were included in the research. In the workshop, firstly, the game ”Who? With Whom? Where? How?" was played manually, and the user ID was defined. Secondly, the results of the game were converted to the function scheme. After the study, a survey was conducted with the students. It was observed that the method of gamification increased the motivation of the students and offered more than one alternative in design process compared to the traditional thinking methods.

Informal education contributes to the development of the student's design skills and the performance of architecture education by addressing subjects that do not fall directly into the curriculum. This study is mainly about the development of students' design thinking skills in informal education. In order to make an assessment, a case study was conducted on the Bademlik Design Festival (BTF), which can be described as an important example in the field of informal education. By adhering to the method, surveys were applied to the instructors and students participating in the BTF. The concepts obtained according to the survey results are based on a detailed conceptual framework. Then, by interpreting this conceptual framework, students' learning outcomes are revealed. As a result, it is observed that the students in the workshops conducted at the BTF gain design thinking skills such as “interaction, free and original thinking, innovation, communication and dialogue”.

As a research area, interior design took shape in the 20s of the last century, despite the fact that the practice of decorating living spaces dates back many hundreds of years. However, the "self-sufficiency" of design and its connection with architecture to this day is the subject of scientific discussions of urban specialists, historians, art historians, and anthropologists. The article discusses the leading artistic styles and trends that prevailed in architecture and design from the point of view of their mutual influence on each other. Time frame of the research: from the middle of XIX century to the first half of XX century. As a result of the research of foreign experience in the formation of interior design, the main stages of the movement development and its relationship with architecture in two formations were identified: activities directly dependent on architectural decisions, activities that determine the entire design process to a large extent: from the functional zoning of the premises to the features of the placement of utilities in the building. Entering the information era in art as a whole is characterized by the rejection of slogans that clearly delineate stylistic boundaries and determine the role of a designer in creating the living space. The determining factor influencing the integrity of the building’s appearance in a modern view is the harmony of the facade and the internal content, which was made possible thanks to the equal interaction of the architect and designer, starting from the first half of the 20th century.

The article considers the historical and economic preconditions for the formation of design skills at students majoring in design. Modern requirements for students of design educational program specialization are described in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education and Secondary Professional Education. The theoretical basis of the study is the works of Russian researchers in the field of the history of design, education, design education, as well the vocabularies of professional terms. The authors studied the classifier of occupations for the relevance of design skills in design professions. The article examines some historical data on the formation of design skills in the world design schools (the Soviet VKHUTEMAS-VKHUTEIN and the German Bauhaus), which determined the fundamental positions of design education. The development of design skills was part of the fundamental training of specialists in these renowned educational institutions. The article also provides the analysis of the labour market and the prospects for economic development in two regions of the Russian Federation (the Chuvash Republic and the Altai Territory). It showed that the demand for designers will grow. Manufacturing, industry and construction are developing steadily. Consequently, the demand for designers in design and interior studios, in furniture production and furniture showrooms will grow. Based on the content analysis of pedagogical literature and vocabulary of professional terms, the authors formulated a generalized definition of the concept of design skills. The urgency of mastering design skills for design students is substantiated. A variety of interpretations of the concepts of design, construction and skill, a generalized authors’ definition of the concept of design skills makes it possible to continue this study, identify descriptors in the future, describe them and suggest some pedagogical conditions for successful formation of the above-mentioned skills.

"In the Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences (UASs) applied research is gaining an increasingly important place in their activities, not only as a means to improve teaching but as a means to develop innovations and professionalism as well. The establishment of a clear framework of research integrity is an important condition to foster the research environment. Up to now, in the UASs there is no specific training for researchers that helps researchers to develop the necessary competencies. This project seeks to address this issue by developing a training program on ‘Responsible Conduct of Research’. To identify what topics should be covered twelve researchers from six different UASs and seven different domains were interviewed (Economics, Arts and Culture, Pedagogy, Technology, Healthcare, Business Administration, and Bioinformatics). Their input resulted in a picture of the state of the art in integrity issues that the interviewees considered as important. Based on an explorative qualitative data analysis and the project team’s expertise tailored learning objectives and appropriate learning methods were formulated. The training program will likely be offered through the Association of UASs (Vereniging van Hogescholen) to all UASs in our country. "
