This study concerns about teaching writing, especially writing narrative text by using picture prompts as media. Picture prompts are believed can make the students relax to study and can encourage them to begin to write. Picture prompts have many advantages in teaching and learning writing. Related to the objective of the study, the aim of this study is to find whether picture prompts can help the students to get higher scores or not. This research will be done in UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in Arabic Language and Literature Department with the research object of class A for experimental group and class B for control group. The objective of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of using picture prompts in writing class in helping students write narrative texts. The quasi-experimental research design will be used in writing this research. This research design was chosen because it was impossible for the researcher to randomize the subjects to the intended conditions. This was due to the fact that moving the students from one class to another in order to get the ideal groups for the sake of the experiment was not allowed. As the study deals with the students of two different classes, the explanation about teaching-learning processes will be applied to it. In the processes, the researcher will conduct pretest to know the students’ writing ability before getting treatment of writing narrative using picture prompts. After the treatment, the researcher conducts posttest to compare the result and to discover whether the students get higher score or not. Then the results of the research between two subjects will be analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for The Social Science) data analysis of group pair data.   Keywords: Picture Prompts, Narrative Text, Writing

This research is entitled “Using graphic organizer strategy in teaching writing on narrative paragraph (experimental research). Writing is a very important subject that should be learned by English learners. The students should be able to express their ideas and opinion either in the form of a sentence or paragraph. However, the researcher found that many students at the Second Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Luas could not express their ideas and develop into the paragraph. Hence, the appropriate strategy of teaching and learning is very important to help students master writing skills. This research aims to know the effect of achievement between the students who are taught writing by using graphic organizers from those taught writing in the narrative by using traditional methods. This research was experimental research and used a quasi-experimental design. The samples chosen in this research were the whole students of class VIII2 and VIII4 of SMPN 1 Tanah Luas. Class VIII2 consisted of 25 students was chosen as experimental group and class VIII4 consisted of 24 students was chosen as control group. This research was conducted in three phrases; there were pre-test, treatments and post-test. The data collection technique used in this research was test. The tests were pre-test and post-test. The researcher gave pre-test before giving treatment and post-test after giving treatment. The treatment was conducted in three meetings. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The research result and the hypothesis authentication found by using t-test formula in significant level 5% or α = 0.05 were obtained that ttest > ttable. The ttest found in this research was 3.91. Meanwhile, ttable was gotten from the list of distribution value with degree of freedom = 47, because the data not in the table, the researcher used interpolation approach and obtained = 1.67. So >  = 3.91 > 1.67. It meant that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, graphic organizer strategy significantly affects the students’ ability in mastering writing.   Kata Kunci: graphic organizer strategy, teaching and learning, writing narrative paragraph

Using Padlet as media is one of the ways to teach writing. Using Padlet as media help students make the students more excited in writing. The main purpose of the study is to examine the effectiveness of using Padlet as media on students’ writing score of the tenth grade IIS-1. Quantitative was selected as a research approach, whereas the research design used was Quasi Experimental by using posttest-only design. This research used two classes which became experimental and control class. The experimental class was taught writing by using Padlet as media, while the control class was taught without any media. To collect the data, post writing tests in experimental and control group were administered. Data were analyzed by using t-test. The findings indicated that score of the experimental class higher than the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that using Padlet as media in teaching writing is effective.

This research used a quasi-experimental design. The population was grade VIII students of SMP XX Yogyakarta that consisted of four classes. The sample consisted of three classes, namely class 8A using CTL approach and class 8B using the scientific approach as the experimental groups, while class 8D used the conventional approach as the control group. The instruments used were tests in the form of writing composition. The hypotheses testing were analyzed using ANCOVA test. The results are (1) there are significant differences in writing achievement among the students taught by using the scientific approach, CTL approach, and conventional approach. (2) The use of the scientific approach and the CTL approach are more effective than that of the conventional approach in teaching writing. (3) The use of the scientific approach is not more effective than that of the CTL approach in teaching writing.

Good writing is important aspect in teaching writing subject. But, the researcher find on the students some problems that they faced in their writing which are in generating the ideas, orginizing and vocabulary. Besides, the teacher also has problems in applying the appropriate strategy and media in teaching writing. Based on the previous studies, Think Pair Share strategy gave the positive effect for the students. This study was to examine the significant effect of Think Pair Share on Student’s Writing Skill through Padlet for Xth Grade at SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Brondong. And the researcher uses quasi Experimental design. The researcher choose Tenth grade at SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Brondong which totally consisted of 56 students. The researcher used cluster sampling because the school has been detemined the classification of the students. It was included 28 students of X IPA 1 as the Experimental Group and 28 students of X IPA 2 as the Control Group. The data was gathered by utilizing tests; pre-test and post-test about composing illustrative content. In the wake of getting the information, the specialist broke down the information utilizing SPSS 16.0 and utilized Independent Sample T-test. The examination finding indicated that there was a noteworthy contrast between test bunch that were educated by utilizing Think Pair Share through Padlet and control bunch that were instructed by utilizing Think Pair Share through Pictures.. It was Therefore, the researcher suggest to the English teacher for implementing of Think Pair Share strategy through Padlet as an altenative strategy in English teaching learning process and hopes to use Think Pair Share strategy through Padlet in other skills and levels to make different with the previous study.proven by the result of sig.(2tailed) is .000. The sig. (2tailed) is lower than 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05) so, null hypothesis (H0) can be rejected. The researcher concluded that Think Pair Share Strategy gave positive effect on student’s writing skill. The students were motivated and independent in learning writing especially in eneratig the ideas, organizing the ideas, and vocabulary. This research contributes by forming new think pair share steps which are associated with the use of technology that can help students much better in discussing in a learning that is the padlet.

ABSTRACT: Creative thinking skills of the students of class VII MTsN Mulawarman Banjarmasin on physics lesson is low. This is due to the evaluation of learning rarely apply creative thinking skills, as well as the implementation of learning activities predominantly on one type of intelligence, logical-mathematical. Therefore, we need a strategy that can develop creative thinking skills and refers to the different spheres of intelligence, multiple intelligences learning strategies that contextual teaching and learning (CTL). The general objective of this study is to describe the differences between the multiple intelligences and learning strategies (CTL) to the creative thinking skills of students. Research conducted a quasi-experimental study design randomized pretest and posttest control group. The study population was all students of class VII MTsN Mulawarman Banjarmasin and the sample were students of class VII D as an experimental class and E class VII as a control class. Data collection was conducted using test instruments, and multiple intelligences scale questionnaire. The analysis technique used is descriptive statistics and parametric assumptions to test the hypothesis. The results showed that in general there is a difference between the students' creative thinking skills and classroom control classroom experiment. This is supported by the results of the analysis, which was performed on the data posttest and gain scores, two classes, namely thit , 3.177 > 1.665 ttab , and thit , 2.104 > ttab , 1,665 .multiple intelligences learning strategies; creative thinking skills

Reading at the level of interpretive understanding is a student activity to respond, get information and meaning by making inferences and reading between the lines of the reading text. This study reveals the problems, namely: students are not able to identify content words such as verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs from the text, students lack vocabulary, students are not able to answer comprehension questions from the text by applying the List-Group-Label Strategy in the teaching and learning process. reading narrative text. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was a significant effect of List-Group-Label Strategy on Students' Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text. This research is a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study were junior high school students and the sample was class VIII students which consisted of two classes as the experimental class and the control class. Each class consists of 30 students. Researchers selected samples using saturated sampling technique. The instrument used in data collection is a written test. Next, the researcher gave a pretest and posttest to the experimental group and the control group to determine the normality of the data and the homogeneity of the sample. After conducting the research, the researcher analyzed the data and produced hypothesis testing, the t-count was 5.067 and the t-table was 2.002. While t-count (5.067) > t-table (2.002), it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In conclusion, there is a significant effect of the List-Group-Label Strategy on students' reading comprehension in narrative texts

Writing requires specific skills in brainstorming, organizing, editing, and proofreading. There are varieties of research conducted in finding which approach is the most impactful to teach writing and one of the approaches emphasized is blended learning, widely acceptable in education field. Nevertheless, its effectiveness on writing is still questionable and the effort to integrate blended learning in teaching writing needs a thorough consideration. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to researcrh the adequacy of blended learning approach on students’ writing performance. Employing an explanatory research type, an experimental research design was applied. A mixed-method method was executed to collect, analyse and interpret data. For quantitative, a quasi-experimental design was carried out to 60 respondents who were selected through purposive samplings and distributed to control and experimental groups. The study used pretest and posttest for both groups. The result shows that there is no significant difference of blended learning and students’ writing performance between the experimental group and control group in the pretest and posttest. Overall, the study shows that both instructions have place in writing. Hence, educators have to become eclectic practitioners who are able to apply suitable approach that can contribute to the growth of teaching and learning writing.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) terhadap kemampuan sains permulaan anak kelompok B Taman Kanak-kanak Gugus V Kecamatan Klungkung. Penelitian iniadalah penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment). Desain penelitiannya adalah Non Equivalen Pretest-Posttest Control Group Desain. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 175 anak Taman Kanak-kanak yang berada di gugus V Kecamatan Klungkung. Sampel penelitian dipilih secara acak 2 kelas dari 8 kelas anggota populasi, sehingga diperoleh anak kelompok B TK Nurul Huda sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan anak kelompok B TK Kumara Dewa sebagai kelompok kontrol. Untuk mengumpulkan data tentang kemampuan sains permulaan digunakan pedoman observasi yang teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Untuk menguji hipotesis data diuji dengan uji-t. hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning terhadap kemampuan sains permulaan anak Taman Kanak-kanak (t=11,278>Sig.(2-tailed) 0,000). Kata-kata kunci : CTL, Sains Permulaan, AUD AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of the CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) learning model on the scientific ability of children in Group B of Kondergarten Cluster V in Klungkung Subdistrict. The population in this study were 175 kindergartens in the V cluster of Klungkung Subdistrict. The study sample wa randomly selected 2 classes from 8 classes of population members, so that the children of group B TK Nurul Huda were obtained as the experimental group and the children in the group B TK Kumara Dewa as a control group. To collect data on early science skills, observation guidelines were used that tested their validity and reliability.To test the hypothesis the data was tested by t-test. The results of the study showed that there was an influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model on the science abilities of early childhood kindergarten (1=11,278>Sig.(2-tailed) 0,000). Keywords: CTL, Beginning Science, AUD

This study attempts to discover the effect of applying Personal Experiences Strategy on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the tenth (X) grade students of SMA N 6 Padangsidimpuan  which consists of 10 parallel classes with the total number of students is 64. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class X1 consisted of 32 students became the experimental group and class X2 consisted of 32 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by Personal Experiences Strategy while the control group was taught by using Big group work strategy. The instrument was used to collect the data was writing narrative text. After the data were analyzed, it was found that the value of t-observed was 4.25 with the degree of freedom (df) = 62 at the level significance 0.05. it means that t-observed was higher than t-table (4.25 > 1.997. The result of this study showed that teaching narrative text by using personal experiences strategy was higher than that by big group work. Keywords : Using Personal Experiences Strategy.
