This chapter provides a brief social history of the Bowery as told through the transformation of its bars and nightlife. It first examines how bars and nightlife corresponded to and helped along the Bowery's eventual gentrification before discussing how new bars and contemporary nightlife development have shaped community life in downtown neighborhood bars. A vignette of the people at Milano's Bar, a bar that has evolved alongside the changes occurring in the Bowery and the nightlife scene, is presented. Through an analysis of its multiple generations of customers, its bartenders, and its owners, the chapter reveals the tensions that have arisen from the bar's own transformation as a refuge for the homeless to a public gathering place for residents to a “dive bar” for young visitors. The reactions of the people at Milano's to these changes illustrate how urban forces have shaped a fundamental aspect of life for people in these downtown neighborhoods, namely, community socializing.

Abstract: The present study includes an analysis of the critical legal thinking of Mexican author Jesús Antonio de La Torre Rangel in his contribution to the theme of Human Rights as a socio-historical conceptual evolution based on the philosophical perspective of Latin American liberation. Thus, the delimitation is based on the conception of liberating juridicity, a category that serves as an opening for the totalized juridical notion - based on the positive idea -. In this way, the objective is to approximate the Right of the sense of the righteous that is born of the people in their praxis of liberation and, therefore, endowing it with a political understanding. The research problematic pervades the existence or not of a Latin American foundation for the understanding of Human Rights. With this, the hypothesis that permeates the work is that Human Rights must be rescued in the experience and conceptual evolution concealed by modernity, recovering an Ibero-Latin American tradition, forgotten in colonized geopolitical and epistemic space. Therefore, the study will permeate three dimensions in the critical legal thinking of the human rights of the Mexican jurist, establishing a reflective panorama that intends to demonstrate at the end a critical proposal of liberating juridicity.

Public space needed to gather citizens without distinction. In the old town of the former kingdom in Java such as Yogyakarta, the city follows the spatial meaning of the philosophy that believed in his time, and had the square developed into a public space. Although the notions of public space here is different from the public space in Europe, but as a gathering place quite interesting. South Alun-Alun Kraton Yogyakarta today so thrive as a public space, especially every night with a variety of interesting activities. Changes of meaning occurs over the development period. Departing from my initial assumptions about changes in the function and meaning of the square, on the ground I gained the finding that the willingness of the parties the court gives halamannnya for the people is a major factor in the formation of a public space of the square. On the field, I also found a variety of meanings that can be read from the signs, which could be interpreted as a semiotic alun-alun My research has two directions, the study of history as a benchmark the development of the function and meaning, as well as the pitch emphasis on exploration of the actors involved in the  south Alun-Alun, with reference Actor Network Theory and Semiotics to understand the formation of meaning for owners and users, which may change at different times.  Keywords: square, public space, , meaning, semiotic

The development of infrastructure and the provision of basic services in Pakistan lie in the public domain. The quality of the built infrastructure and the service offered reflect successive governments’ capability as a channel for public sector funds, their role in overall financial and macro-economic planning and management, and their administrative efficiency in implementation, operations and management—in essence the extent to which they are able to adhere to the principles of good and humane governance. Good governance is generally conceived of as the judicious exercise of economic, political and administrative authority in the public and private spheres to manage a country’s affairs at all levels to improve the quality of life of the people. It is a continuing process where divergent opinions and desires are satisfied through compromise and tolerance in a spirit of cooperative action for the mutual benefit of the larger whole. It has three dimensions: one, the political regime; two, the systems and procedures for exercising authority; and three, the capacity of governments [World Bank (1994); UNDP (1997); OECD (1995); Commission on Global Governance (1995)].

The existence of the church in this world is God's plan and will. Like a plant, which naturally grows and develops; as is the case with the existence of the church, God desires that His church grow and develop both in quality and quantity. There are various factors that influence the growth of the church, including the presence of church members and good pastoral care for the people. This research to describe the influence of church building and pastoral care on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya. Apart from that, to find out how much influence each independent variable has on the dependent variable. The approach used in this research is quantitative; where the population which is the object of this research is 400 members of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya. The sample is taken from a population of 24% or 96 people who can represent the population with a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a questionnaire to collect data on three variables, namely: (1) fostering church members, (2) pastoral care, and (3) church growth. The results of the study showed: (1) the influence of coaching church members on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya was in the medium category. (2) the influence of pastoral care on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya in the medium category. And (3) the influence of coaching church members and pastoral care together on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya is also in the medium category. Based on the findings in this research, several suggestions were suggested as follows: (1) The formation of church members, with three dimensions, namely Coinonia, Diakonia and Marturia had influence in the medium category. It is recommended that it be maintained, even if the implementation is increased. Because through these three dimensions the resources of the people are included in the ministry. (2) As with the formation of church members, pastoral care also influences the moderate category of church growth, therefore it is recommended that the implementation be increased so that through direct contact with the life of the congregation it will strengthen the spirituality of the church.
