Parasitic diseases continue represent a threat on a global scale, particularly among the poorest countries in the world. This is particularly because of the absence of vaccines, and in some cases, resistance against available drugs, currently being used for their treatment. In this review emphasis is laid on natural products and scaffolds from African medicinal plants (AMPs) for lead drug discovery and possible further development of drugs for the treatment of parasitic diseases. In the discussion, emphasis has been laid on alkaloids, terpenoids, quinones, flavonoids and narrower compound classes of compounds with micromolar range activities against Schistosoma, Trypanosoma and Leishmania species. Suggestions for future drug development from African medicinal plants have also been provided.

Ayurveda has been the main guiding force in drug discovery from traditional medicine. In concept, this system is rooted in folk or ethnomedicine and in practice it shows further refinement and development in accordance with local traditions. Isolation of active principles from crude drugs, their pharmacological evaluation, therapeutic proving and clinical application resulted in the genesis of modern or so called allopathic medicine. To keep the opportunity alive for further development in traditional as well as modern medicines, it is necessary to have an uninterrupted connection with ethnomedicine. Since the practice of ethnomedicine is based on the age-long indigenous knowledge which has been orally transmitted through generations and sustained in traditions there is an urgent need to document such knowledge. The ongoing strategies adopted in India to document the precious traditional knowledge and conserve medicinal plants are discussed in this communication. India with her rich plant wealth and traditional knowledge about the medicinal use of plants has tremendous scope to provide leadership in ensuring human health and longevity.

Plants are different all over the world and its indications change according to the country they are located. This paper is developed in order to perform a comprehensive literature´s review about plants used as anti-parasitic either in traditional or popular medicine in Argentina, and to provide a scientific support for their use in this medical indication. All Ethnobotany, Ethnomedicine, Phytomedicine books from Libraries of the Faculty of Exact Sciences Faculty of Medical Sciences, Agricultural Science, from all National Universities in Argentina were included in the study. Herbal characteristics and therapies were searched in online databases such as Medline PubMed, Science Direct and Scopus. The results obtained show the potential of Ethnomedicine in Argentina as a source of active ingredients for phytotherapy, providing data about species for anti-parasitic treatment. Thus, we found many Argentinean’s plants with anti-parasitic properties which might be considered alternatives for natural treatment or future drug development against wormers.

Plant determined medications remains an important source, particularly in creating countries, to look at genuine sicknesses roughly 62-80% of the total populace although everything depends on conventional medication for the therapy of specific disease. Indeed, plants produce a various scope of bioactive atoms creation them an ironic wellspring of an alternate kind of drugs. There are hardly any reports and utilization of plants in conventional mending by either ancestral individuals or indigenous network. Rejuvenating plants are the wellspring of extraordinary monetary estimation of everywhere on over the world. Nature has the best word on us a rich plant riches, and an enormous number of assorted kinds of plants develop in various pieces of the nation. Homegrown medication is as yet a pillar of around 75 to 85% the entire populace and the significant aspect of the conventional therapy the utilization of the plant extricate and the dynamic constituents. Among the 7000 types of rejuvenating plants perceived everywhere on over the world in excess of 9000, valuable medicinal plants are found in India. Unfortunately, just not many of them are utilized for their therapeutic worth. Around 1500 plants systematically utilize the conventional arrangement of Indian medication. Notwithstanding, the ethanopharmacologist, microbiologist, botanist and common item physicist world over today, is continually still looking for therapeutic adequacy of the plants on the phytochemicals. Along these lines, the quest for the new phytochemical is the foremost significant important to research the primer phytochemical examination to Terminalia catappa and Syzygium jumbolanam.
