This study aims to describe the Islamic perspective on moral values in the short story Daulah Al-‘Ashāfīr by Taufīq Al-Chakīm. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is the Daulah Al-Ashāfīr short story by Taufīq Al-Chakīm using Roland Barthes's Semiotic theory. The data used is the text in the form of quotations that show moral values in the Daulah Al-Ashāfīr. Analysis is done by reading, then recording things that show moral values in the Daulah Al-Ashāfīr. Furthermore, collecting secondary data that supports the research. Then analyze the moral values of Daulah Al-Ashāfīr by using Roland Barthes's semiotic theory and proceed with an Islamic perspective on that value. Finally, make a conclusion. The results of the study show that moral values in the short story Daulah Al-Ashāfīr by Taufīq Al-Chakīm are divided into three, namely (1) religious moral values, (2) social moral values, (3) and individual moral values. All three moral values are in accordance with Islamic teachings, there is human relations with God, human relations with others, and human relations with yourself.

This research focuses on Rob Hall�s characterizations and moral values found in �Everest: Never Let Go� Film. The aims of this research are to find out Rob Hall�s characterizations portrayed in the Film Everest: Never Let Go and the moral values of the Film. The researcher used the theory about psychological analysis (based on Sigmund Freud in Schultz, 2005) to find out Rob characters through his words or sentences in script of Everest; Never Let Go Film and semiotics theory (based on Roland Barthes, 1968, 1990, 1991) to find out the characteristics of Rob Hall through pictures or signs which show his character in Film �Everest: Never Let Go� with print screen of each pictures or signs, and theory of moral value based on George and Uyanga (2014). Qualitative descriptive method was used by the researcher to find out the characteristic of Rob Hall in Everest: Never Let Go Film and the moral values of Rob Hall characterized in the Film. As result, the researcher found 6 characterizations of Rob Hall in Everest: Never Let Go Film, those are Honest, Sociable, Responsible, Assertive, Attentive, and Pessimistic. While, the moral values from this Film was that a leader should be able to support, keep, help, open, responsible, honest, assertive, wise attitude, sacrifice, and direct their team towards better.Keywords: Characterization Analysis, Rob Hall, Everest: Never Let Go Film, Pyschological Analysis, Semiotics, Moral Value

Sejak berkembangnya fashion muslimah di dunia, ada banyak perusahaan –perusahaaan yang menayangkan perempuan Muslim berhijab pada iklan mereka, salah satu contohnya iklan pada produk Amerika. Iklan-iklan tersebut ialah Nike, American Eagle, Fenty Beauty, Covergirl,dan Gap. Fenomena ini layak untuk dikaji, karena terdapat sesuatu yang sangat bersifat kontradiktif. Amerika sangat mahsyur dengan Islamofobianya, sedangkan perempuan Muslim berhijab merupakan identitas dari agama Islam. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini hendak mengungkap makna dari model muslimah pada iklan-iklan produk Amerika tersebut. Metode yang digunakan ialah kualitatif deskriptif dan menerapkan teori semiotika Roland Barthes dan teori religifikasi komoditas. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa makna perempuan Muslim berhijab merujuk kepada fenomena kehidupan muslimah saat ini. Seperti, standar kecantikan dan gaya hidup para muslimah, kebebasan dalam berekspersi dan menampilkan kemampuan muslimah, serta diversitas representasi kecantikan pada perempuan. Terdapat tiga mitos (ideologi) yang ditemukan pada artikel ini ialah bentuk resistensi dan dekonstruksi stereotip negatif terhadap perempuan Muslim di Amerika, standar kecantikan, dan nilai-nilai egalitarianisme. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini beragumen bahwa iklan merupakan sebuah gerakan bawah tanah bagi para perempuan Muslim sebagai bentuk resistensi mereka terhadap stigama-stigma negatif yang ada di masyarakat Amerika, dengan cara mengekspresikan identitas, abilitas, dan nilai-nilai egalitarianisme.[Since muslimah fashion has risen in the world, many companies showing Muslim women who wear hijab in their advertisements, including American brands advertisements. They are Nike, American Eagle, Covergirl, Fenty Beauty, and Gap. This case is important to be discussed, because it is completely opposite. America is well-known as Islamophobia country and hijab-Muslim women as an identity of Islam religion. Therefore, the study aims to reveal the meaning of Muslimah model in these advertisements. The method used in this study is a a qualitative descriptive method and applies Roland Barthes semiotic theory and religification of commodities theory. This research found the meanings of muslimah models refer to the current phenomena of muslimah life such as the modern beauty and lifestyle of muslimah, and the freedom in showing their status and skill, and the diversity in the representation of women beauty. Three myths (ideologies) found in this research are a deconstruction of the negative stereotype of muslimah in America, beauty standard, and egalitarianism values. Therefore, this research argues that the advertisement is an underground movement of muslim women as their resistance to negative stigmas in American society by expressing their identities, ability, and egalitarianism values.]

AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengungkap makna simbol senyuman dalam cerpen Perempuan Sunyi dan Saudaranya karya Yus R. Ismail. Aspek simbol senyuman itu diungkap melalui peristiwa dan dialog tokoh dalam cerpen. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori semiotika. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data studi pustaka. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah cerpen Perempuan Sunyi dan Saudaranya berisi simbol universal, simbol kultural, dan simbol individual. Kata kunci: Makna simbol, cerpen Perempuan Sunyi dan Saudaranya, semiotika  AbstractThis research is conducted to reveal the symbol smile meaning in Perempuan Sunyi dan Saudaranya short story by Yus R. AbstrakMasalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu pentingnya strategi produk dalam menjalankan sebuah usaha agar mampu bertahan dan bersaing  dengan perusahaan lain yang sejenis dalam kondisi persaingan yang ketat dan perkembangan zaman yang sangat cepat. Strategi produk sangat diperlukan dalam mememenuhi tuntutan konsumen seperti meningkatkan kualitas, menciptakan merek, pelayanan serta jaminan terhadap produk yang ditawarkan agar usaha mampu berkembang. Limpapeh”s Kebaya adalah usaha yang sedang berkembang dan telah mampu memasarkan produk bordirnya hingga menembus pasar ekspor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi produk bordir di Limpapeh”s Kebaya, Kapalo Koto, Koto Tangah Simalanggang, Kota Payakumbuh. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriftif kualitatif, jenis data berupa data primer dan  sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisa model interaktif yang berkaitan dengan pokok permasalahan yaitu dengan model reduksi data, penyajian data dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian yaitu strategi produk yang dilakukan di Limpapeh”s Kebaya adalah dimulai dari menciptakan produk bordir yang berkualitas, desain motif bordir yang up to date dan kreatif, menyediakan ukuran yang special, memberi merek pada produk bordir, memberi kemasan yang menarik (paperbag) dan serbaguna, pelayanan yang cepat, tepat dan ramah serta pemberian jaminan terhadap produk border.Kata Kunci: strategi produk, pelayanan, bordir. AbstractThe problem in this study is the importance of product strategy in running a business in order to be able to survive and compete with other similar companies in conditions of intense competition and very rapid development of the times. Product strategy is very necessary in fulfilling consumer demands such as improving quality, creating brands, services and guarantees for products offered so that businesses are able to grow. Limpapeh's Kebaya is a growing business and has been able to market its embroidery products to penetrate the export market. This study aims to describe the strategy of embroidery products in Limpapeh's Kebaya, Kapalo Koto, Koto Tangah Simalanggang, Payakumbuh City. The research method uses qualitative descriptive method, the type of data in the form of primary and secondary data. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out with interactive model analysis techniques that are related to the subject matter, namely with a model of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of the research, namely the product strategy carried out at Limpapeh's Kebaya, are started from creating quality embroidery products, up-to-date and creative embroidery motifs, providing special sizes, giving brands to embroidery products, giving attractive packaging (paperbag) and versatile, fast, precise and friendly service and guarantee of embroidery products. This study was conducted to determine the imposition of a progressive tax rate on motor vehicle taxes based on The Four Maxims in Pasaman Barat Regency, Sumatra Barat. The method used in this study was a qualitative descriptive method. The type of data used in this study was primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observations, and documentation. The purpose of this study was to determine how to impose a progressive tax rate on motorized vehicle tax based on four principles of tax collection. The results show that the tax principle as still appropriate and relevant to be applied, namely the principles of tax collection proposed by Adam Smith, which are equality, legal certainty, the convenience of payment, and principles efficiency (economic of collection).

Tulisan ini membahas citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen yang dimuat di harian Radar Banten dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Budaya Banten melatarbelakangi para cerpenis dalam melukiskan perempuan Banten. Para penulis dapat memotret sebagian kehidupan para perempuan tersebut melalui tokoh-tokoh rekaan yang diciptakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji citra perempuan Banten melalui deskripsi para cerpenis dalam harian Radar Banten. Sumber data utama berasal dari empat belas cerpen yang dimuat tahun 2006—2010. Setelah analisis data melalui teori feminisme, diketahui bahwa citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perempuan sebagai sosok pemimpin pemerintahan, penulis, perempuan berkekuatan magis, pemegang norma, pekerja keras, penyabar, penyayang, perempuan yang agamis, dan perempuan metropolis.Abstract:This paper discusses the image of Banten women in short stories published in Radar Banten. It  uses a qualitative descriptive method. Banten’s  cultural background depicts women in Banten. The writers of short story can capture some of the women’s real life through fiction’s characters. The purpose of this study is to examine the image of women through the description of the short story’s writers in Radar Banten. The main data sources were taken from fourteen short stories published in 2006—2010. Having analyzed the data using feminism theory, it is found out that the image of women in short stories of Radar Banten is the figure of woman as government leader, writer, woman with magical power, obedient norm woman, hardworking woman, patient and caring woman, religious woman, and  metropolitan woman.

This research aimed to discuss the topic of patriarchal research because it still existed in several countries in the world, especially Asia and more specifically, in Indonesia. This research was conducted to reveal how patriarchal values were reflected in Indonesian children’s folk tales from Sumatra Island. This research used a sociological approach to literature and used semiotic theory to analyze the data obtained. The researcher chose to use a qualitative descriptive method so that the analysis process could be described completely. The main data used in this research are several children’s folk tales originating from Sumatra Island, namely Province of North Sumatra (“Di Balik Derita Si Boru Tombaga”, “Bohong Merinang”, and “Si Kodok Kata Malem, Baik Budi Penawan Hati”), South Sumatra (“Langkuse dan Putri Rambut Putih”), and Jambi (“Legenda Bukit Perak”). This research finds that patriarchal values are represented in how women are associated with domestic works, women are considered as the subordinates and inferiors, as well as showing their dependence on men.

The purpose of this research is to describe students ability in writing realist short story at students class IX A SMP Negeri 9 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2016/2017. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive. The data of this research is primary and secondary data. The primary data is taken directly, from students exercise in writing realist short story while secondary data is taken from some sources in Batanghari University library and province library. The data is collected by using observation, interview, exercise, and documentation. From the analysis, it shows that there are 5 students fall into very good criteria (interval up to 80), there are 21 students fall into good criteria (interval 70-79), there are 11 students fall into fair criteria (interval 60-69),and there is 1 student falls into below average (interval up to 59). So, it can be concluded that students ability in wiritng realist short story fall into good criteria with interval 70.Kata Kunci:pop song, realist short story, students

The high selling price of coffee paid by consumers (importers) has not been felt by farmers. The development of Gayo Arabica Coffee marketing then emerged Cooperative and CV in Bener Meriah Regency in accommodating the production of farmers one of them. CV.Gayo Mandiri Coffee (GMC) located in District Bandar, Bener Meriah Regency. CV Gayo Mandiri Coffee is engaged in Gayo Arabica coffee marketing activities. This study aims to identify the marketing channel and the Gayo Arabica coffee production process. The research was conducted using qualitative descriptive method to analyze the primary and secondary data obtained. Primary data obtained through interviews and observations, while secondary data obtained through the literature associated with this research. Gayo Arabica coffee marketing in CV.Gayo Mandiri Coffee in marketing its products there are two channels, from collectors to producers to consumers, from producers directly to consumers and from producers to retailers as well as through intermediaries then to the hands of consumers. The most dominant channels contained in CV.Gayo Mandiri is channel I because this channel is the most effective and efficient in the marketing of green bean coffee Arabica Gayo.

Traditional Indonesian martial art called Pencak Silat , as one of the nation's cultural assets, pencak silat is increasingly developing in Indonesian society, both from the sports and from the socio-cultural. The purposed of this research was conducted to determine the potential development of pencak silat at Merpati Putih as a cultural tourism attraction. The research was conducted on active and passive members (who had been members) of the Merpati Putih Pencak Silat  (with total 612 of respondents). pencak silat  “Merpati Putih” (known as PPS Betako Merpati Putih) was formed around the 1550s BC. This research used a qualitative descriptive method, with primary data from the results of the questionnaire, and enriched with secondary data obtained from the internet and several other sources to complement this research. This research used a qualitative descriptive method, explaining the situation and facts found in the field. To explore members' perceptions of the potential development of pencak silat “Merpati Putih” as a cultural tourism attraction, questionnaires, online observations and interview conducted on the members of PPS Betako Merpati Putih. Pencak silat “Merpati Putih” has the potential to be developed as a cultural tourism attraction, by developing and managing it more professional so that it becomes a cultural tourism asset in term of tourists interest.
