This paper brings new insights and further examines the data obtained from the National Survey of Domestic Violence, which is the most comprehensive source on the prevalence of violence against children in Albania. The aim here is not to duplicate or overlap with the results of the survey but to enshrine subtle elements that characterize the violence against children. The analyses are focused to critically examine the frequency and characteristics of physical violence against children. This includes the calculation of many comparisons between the occurrence of violence and predisposing factors. From the statistical analysis results, it can be seen, that the number of respondents who nominated their respective mothers as offenders represent 70% of the total valid sample followed by their fathers and brothers/sisters with 46% and 38% respectively. It appears that the most frequent and sadly culturally accepted method of physical violence against children is slapping and knuckle beating which resulted in 89% of cases followed by hair tear and pushes by 60%, meanwhile other more extreme forms of violence occur to a lower rate ranging from 0.6% up to 20%. Interestingly the violence against children is predominantly high in Elbasan and Gjirokastra regions with an outstanding prevalence of 91% and 88% respectively. These scientific facts replace the old misconceptions that the domestic violence is more widespread in northern areas of Albania. The research findings reported here are critical to inform our efforts to protect children from children’s exposure to violence.

Families are places where everyone in the family feels safe and comfortable from acts o violence, but in reality violence also accurs whitin the family. The enactment of Law No. 23 of 2004 on the abolition of domestic violence (hereinafter referred to as the Law of Domestic Violence) aims to prevent all forms of domestic violence, protect domestic violence victims, prosecute domestic violence perpetrators, and maintain wholeness harmonious and prosperous households. In handling it is sometimes resolved peacefully. This raises the question of whether the Law on Elimination of Domestic Violence has guaranteed the settlement of Domestic Violence according to its objectives? All forms of violence against women and children constitute a violation of human rights, so it is necessary to be protected by their dignity and dignity and guaranteed their right to life in accordance with their nature and nature without discrimination. The Criminal Act contained in Article 5 of the Act states that prohibited violence is physical violence, psychological violence, sexual violence, or neglect of the household. Many cases of domestic violence are reported but not a few are repealed by the victim for various reasons, such as still loving the perpetrator, and the perpetrator is the breadwinner in the household. The resolution of cases of domestic violence is also up to the court's decision, but this certainly brings the consequences of the objective of the Law on Elimination of Domestic Violence. Despite all forms of prevention of domestic violence, protecting the victim, prosecuting the perpetrator is reached but if the case is passed on to the court decision whether the goal of maintaining a harmonious and prosperous household unity can be achieved. The resolution of domestic violence requires the wisdom of the Law Enforcers (Police, Prosecutors, Judges).

Abstract: The increasing violence against women makes the issue of gender will continue to be interesting to study. The forms of violence committed against women are also increasingly diverse, one of which is non-physical violence through the news media. Then the discourse construction will be analyzed using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis will analyze the discourse building holistically which includes the position of the subject-object and also the position of the writer-reader in the news. The results of the study reveal that the position of the subject and the author is dominated by men to convince the public that women are the cause of the hot video case. Using the Theatre of Witness production I Once Knew a Girl as its focal point, this essay examines the operation of affect in performances that address Northern Ireland's history of civil conflict. I Once Knew a Girl seeks to capture women's experience of those decades. The gendered aspects of that conflict and of the associated violence and victimhood are rarely acknowledged or explored, although the research on domestic and sexual violence suggests that public civic violence has an aggravating impact on all forms of violence, including those normally designated as ‘private’. These performances focus on the personal and individual experience of the conflict and its aftermath, while seeking to create affective experiences for the spectators. Affect arguably facilitates the public telling of taboo stories while minimizing the potential for audience objectification and ‘Othering’ of the participant/protagonist. ‘Taboo’, because sexual and domestic violence – an issue that arises repeatedly within this production – is often minimized or marginalized in public discussion of the Northern Irish conflict, where the focus is on the ‘masculine’ narratives of nation and nationalisms.

The universal concern of domestic violence against women in its various manifestations came to the center of scholarly attention due to its harmful effects and consequences on the lives of thousands of women worldwide. This umbrella term that refers to any form of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse against women is the result of gender-based power imbalance and sexist inequalities in societies where patriarchal norms hold sway. However, the enormity and severity of the problem is more profound in third-world countries where governing policies are determined by traditional and religious doctrines. Afghanistan is one such third-world country where woman’s oppression and abuse originate from the reigning religious principles that dominate its culture, society and politics. Nevertheless, there is a recent trend among literary figures of the Afghan Diaspora in highlighting the plight of Afghan women in Afghanistan through the medium of fiction. This paper therefore intends to investigate the manifestations of domestic violence against women in the Afghan context through a reading of Atiq Rahim’s novella, A Thousand Rooms of Dream and Fear (2007). Rahimi’s novella narrates the story of a male protagonist named Farhad and simultaneously highlights the miserable living conditions of the Afghan people, particularly the lives of Afghan women during the turbulent period of the Soviet Invasion as well as the many internal political upheavals that followed soon after. Using feminist literary criticism, the present paper shall discuss the depictions of three prominent forms of domestic violence against women as experienced by the female characters in the novella, namely physical, sexual and psychological violence that have shaped them into oppressed, silenced and traumatized individuals.
