This is the 2nd special issue on education of robotics & mechatronics on Journal Robotics & Mechatronics. Six years have passed since the previous issue (Vol.23, No.5) was published. This special issue includes nine research papers and two review papers, among which four research papers focus on the utilization of robots in STEM education, which has been spotlighted recently, and programming education for the young. Five research papers propose educational methods with novel, unprecedented ideas, and the two review papers overview technology education in Japan. The review papers focus on STEM education that utilizes a variety of manufacturing methods that have become familiar, and they present a variety of efforts being made in STEM education, programming education in today’s Japan. At present, Germany’s Industry 4.0, Japan’s Robot Strategy, and many other initiatives are being undertaken in the world to promote development technology as it relates to production automation and efficiency. The development of human resources that are capable of working with these new technologies has also gathered public attention, with each educational institution now required to enrich its STEM education. As part of this movement, in 2020, programming education will be added to Japan’s elementary school curriculum, with robots being the focus of the education. This situation indicates that the importance of educational robotics is likely to continue to increase in the future. We expect that this special issue will contribute to the development of educational robotics communities and of human resources that are well prepared in the field of robotics. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all contributors and the reviewers for making this special issue possible.

The integration of Ukrainian system of Higher education into the European one accompanies by a transformation processes. The main goal of Higher school in our country is to prepare competitive specialists. The pedagogues of medical universities implement modern educational technologies with the use of analytically-searching work and scientific information. The implementation of new technologies of teaching is the important task of modernization of pedagogical system of mastering highly skilled specialists. The aim — to ground the implementation of test control for the estimation of quality of knowledge of future doctors. Gaining knowledge in microbiology is very necessary for future doctors to understand the principals of diagnostics and struggling infectious diseases. Knowledge in microbiology is basis for better understanding of clinical disciplines, as it assists logical perception of clinical data, influences on the forming clinical thought without which it is impossible to become a highly skilled specialist. The implementation of modern methods of studies, control, providing the increase of creative activity of students, forming and developing in them professional thought is one of the effective way of the improvement of quality of pedagogical training of highly skilled doctors. The experience of applying of the test control of knowledge in students in the medical university at classes of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology has been presented in the manuscript. The use of different types of test control has been proved to be one of the effective methods for determining the level of knowledge among students. Test control promotes the activation of cognitive activity, forms students’ skills of independent work, develops their logical thinking. Test control of obtained knowledge should be used in conjunction with other methods of studying the subject. The analysis of the results of the writing of the KROK-1 qualification exam by the students of the stomatological department has been conducted. The use of different methods of estimation of control of knowledge is necessary for its improvement. The study of microbiology is the important base of forming fundamental knowledge in students. Therefore, test control in a complex with other pedagogical methods can be used as one of the important and optimal methods to improve estimation of the basic level of students’ knowledge.

New technologies and so-called communication and information technologies are transforming our society, the way in which we relate to each other, and the way we understand the world. By a wider extension, they are also influencing the world of law. That is why technologies will have a huge impact on society in the coming years and will bring new challenges and legal challenges to the legal sector worldwide. On the other hand, the new communications era also brings many new legal issues such as those derived from e-commerce and payment services, intellectual property, or the problems derived from the use of new technologies by young people. This will undoubtedly affect the development, evolution, and understanding of law. This Special Issue has become this window into the new challenges of law in relation to new technologies.

Despite many scholars' previous attempts to summarize the state of the art in historical studies of literacy, this special issue will now be the best, up-to-date place for a novice to start. It should be required reading for everyone interested in this subfield. The editors have enlisted an impressive roster of prominent scholars in the field, and these authors have provided us with an excellent array of synthetic reviews, methodological and theoretical discussions, and exemplary research papers.

The Problem A number of new perspectives of virtual human resource development (VHRD) have been provided in this issue of Advances in Developing Human Resources ( ADHR) that warrant further discussion. As VHRD is still a nascent area of inquiry in HRD, professionals need more explanatory examples and solutions to consider for determining their own role in working with people and technology. The Solution This article offers a synthesis of key constructs of VHRD from the articles in this special issue. Also, it provides a discussion around two different modes of technology development (TD) needed by HRD professionals in the contemporary technology-enabled environment afforded by VHRD. And, the integration of TD in addition to career development, training and development, and organization development is essential to the future of HRD and is discussed herein. The Stakeholders This article targets primarily practitioners interested in VHRD interventions and processes. It encourages the reader to examine the commonalities across the articles in this issue of ADHR and also to consider the new skills required for HRD professionals when seeking to align organizational mission with all levels of the organization.

Digital transformation, one of the key areas of change management in the digital age, is defined as a process of changes by the means of using IR technologies in firm's operation. The extant literature suggests that implementation of digital technologies could improve communication, information flow, thus contributing towards value creation and firm performance. Notwithstanding of scarce financial, human resources and strategic capabilities to adopt new technologies among SMEs (Lee et al., 2020), the firm structure, which is more flexible as compared to large firms, offers opportunity in terms of quick decision making (Ghobakhloo & Ching, 2019) for the owner to adapt the firm's business model with market changes and implement necessary changes to sustain in the business. Moreover, previous studies indicate SMEs gained benefit from technology adoption. Nevertheless, transformation towards digitalisation requires a considerable judgement of decision, investment and effort by management and among the employees. The paper considers the questions of substantiation of relevance of educational robotics implementation in the learning process of Ukrainian schools. The current state of development of robotics as an applied field and as an educational trend is analyzed to solve the research problems. The analysis of the global trends in the development of robotics as an applied field has shown that robotics is one of the most intensively developing fields of science and technology. This leads to the conclusion that there is a need to train relevant specialists and to update the curriculum in school and university education according to the daily requirements. Therefore, the issue of robotics implementation into the learning process of secondary and higher education institutions as an obligatory component of training of future specialists in robotics and future robotics teachers is of particular importance. The analysis of the robotics development as an educational trend has shown that educational robotics is one of the most perspective and popular trends in STEM education. In addition, it is determined that learning via robotics provides students with the opportunity to solve real life problems that require knowledge of STEM subjects. Based on previous research, the author also clarifies the concept of educational robotics, substantiates the aim and main tasks of its implementation into the educational process of educational institutions, which, as a consequence, leads to the importance of solving the issue of training future robotics teachers. The paper also presents and analyzes the results of the conducted research among educators and scientists on determining the state of teaching of robotics in Ukrainian schools. Based on the obtained results, we can conclude that there is a need to implement of the educational robotics into the learning process of secondary education institutions as a compulsory component of the school curriculum. In particular, possible ways of implementation of the educational robotics in Ukrainian schools are defined.

The article presents the results of theoretical and practical analysis of the problem of STEM education in Ukraine. The authors assume that the definition of theoretical and methodological principles of this problem will help create conditions for the effective completion of educational and upbringing tasks in educational institutions. The article reveals the main conceptual principles of the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine 05.082020 № 960-r «On approval of the Conception of natural sciences and mathematical education development (STEM-education)». Implementation of this Conception is envisaged by 2027. This Conception is aimed at the development of STEM-education, its large-scale implementation at all levels of education, establishing partnerships with employers and research institutions and their involvement in the development of natural sciences and mathematical education. The article also reveals the main theoretical and methodological principles of STEM-education such as: methodological principles, resource principles, organizational conditions and human resources, which ensures the success of the implementation of innovative learning in the education system. Creating an educational STEM-environment in an educational institution is one of the main tasks of the current stage of development of STEM-education. The educational STEM-environment of an educational institution is a set of intellectual and material conditions for the implementation of research results, technologies, engineering and integrated knowledge that ensure the self-development of a free and active personality and the realization of creative potential of students. STEM-education is implemented under the conditions of integration of all types of education on the basis of online platforms, media products, STEM-centers or laboratories, virtual STEM-centers, using non-standard methods, such as: STEM-excursions, interactive quests, contests or competitions in areas such as Internet of Things and robotics, STEM -festivals of makers and inventors, scientific picnics, hackathons, etc. The authors assume that the use of the above innovative and interactive methods and forms of work, organically combined with the peculiarities of educational activities, will effectively meet requirements of the Conception of natural sciences and mathematical education development (STEM-education), will allow students to form skills of research and engineering, invention and entrepreneurship, will provide support to students in their professional self-determination.
