Kenya, like most other developing countries, is beginning to address a wide range of problems with the heightened concern for the role played by In-service Education and Training (INSET) in improving the quality of education. Opportunities for learning through in-serving training continue to open up for teachers, a fact that has seen the initiation of programmes such as Strengthening Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (SMASSE). SMASSE utilizes two approaches to teaching; Activity, Student-centred, Experiment, Improvisation (ASEI) and Plan, Do, See, Improve (PDSI). This paper is an instrumental guide into government decisions on the SMASSE project which has so far highlighted many challenges being faced both by the teachers and the students in the implementation process. This study proposes from the point of implementers and consumers, ways to counter the challenges. This implies that the areas of weaknesses can then be addressed. The study used a total of sixteen schools selected through stratified random sampling. The study gathered both qualitative and quantitative data which was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software, Registered R and Excel. Findings are presented in tables using percentages, frequency distribution and means. A number of challenges in the implementation of SMASSE were identified. These included inadequate time, de-motivated teachers and students’ indiscipline among others. The study concludes that though SMASSE INSET does not show an impact on the performance of mathematics and chemistry, it has influenced the teachers’ ability to deliver in their teaching amidst various challenges. The author thus recommends that future SMASSE programmes should have a bottom-up approach to enable full ownership by stakeholders.

THE TERM CORPORATE GOVERNANCE HAS COME INTO USE TO describe both the purposes and the methods which determine the structure and the control of companies. A wide range of legal, regulatory and less formalized arrangements is thus embraced. In the UK in recent years discussion has related to a number of interrelated issues: the structure and functioning of boards of directors, reporting to shareholders and the ways in which shareholders use their power. These issues have a bearing upon business performance, though the debate about ways to improve the quality of management embraces also the cultural factors, the educational system and training arrangements; and performance depends too upon factors wholly or largely beyond the influence of managers, such as the tensions from class-division, over-powerful unions and the uncertainties which flow from discontinuities in public policy which are especially evident in the British political system. But in the general debate the corporate governance issues have perhaps had less attention than they deserve; the discussion has been confined to a limited circle. It is proposed here to concentrate on non-executive directors.

The main purpose of this study is to develop an understanding of the trainers' perceptions of competency and training needs related to professional skills in accordance with professional experience and academic education. The sample included 76 judo trainers who answered a questionnaire that included a measure that focused on the perceptions of competency and another on training needs. An exploratory factor analysis was used with the maximum probability factor (Oblimin) to determine emerging factors. A comparison of the Coaches ' concepts was made in the training experience and the academic background of the Coaches, where multiple comparisons were applied using ANOVA and Tukey. Three main areas of skills were done: skills related to annual planning; skills related to practice and competition; and personal education and training skills. Coach es' perceptions of their expertise were affected, with low-level trainers classifying themselves at lower levels of efficiency and more training needs; and higher-education Coaches in physical education were more efficient than mid-level trainers. Finally, most trainers consider them as efficient as they have indicated the training needs to be provided, which brings important feedback to the education of trainers. This suggests that trainers are an increasing their knowledge and competence in a wide range of areas that should be considered in future training of trainers programs, also to ensure the quality of education and training in the different level of physical and sports education institutes of the Algerian universities.

The relevance of the study of issues related to improving the quality of education in current realities is not in doubt. One may note a wide range of opinions regarding the content and essence of this concept, its structure, ensuring the quality of the educational process, in particular, in educational institutions of higher education, and understanding of the quality of existing education by the educational process participants (teachers and students) as well as parties concerned (employers, parents, etc.). Improving the quality of education is a multifaceted and continuous process that requires careful attention from the scientific community. The authors consider the main definitions of the concept of quality of education and uncover its content. To study different views on the quality of contemporary education, several surveys of the main participants in the educational process, i.e. teachers and students, were conducted. The authors revealed the opinions of employers and graduates regarding the quality of domestic higher education and, based on these qualities, created a profile of contemporary graduates (young professionals) who have received a high-quality education. As a result of the conducted research, the conclusion is confirmed that quality is understood by each person according to their accumulated experience and the subjective idea of this category, and changes according to the requirements that are dictated by society and the state in a particular historical period, as well as depending on the conditions of the surrounding reality (a clear example is a current situation with coronavirus which shows that the main skills for employees are the skills and abilities to perform work remotely, which also become key ones when making a decision by the employer about hiring an employee).

The dichotomous debate between objectivity and subjectivity in Social Sciences and the differences between qualitative and quantitative approaches in research are related to the strong demand for validation and accreditation of studies. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to discuss quality in qualitative research, through a systematic analysis of the typologies of triangulation strategy, highlighting the following quality dimensions in research: reliability, credibility, transferability and confirmability. There is a considerable amount of research about quality in qualitative research, as well as about triangulation. However, the main differentiator of this paper is the systematic presentation of triangulation typologies, which allow for the improvement of quality in qualitative research. The authors believe that the focus on "how to" improve quality, and not quality itself, makes this paper original. Among the main findings, it can be highlighted the effort to systematize and present guidelines in order to improve credibility in qualitative research, by means of the triangulation strategy presented in a framework that will allow the reader to have a better understanding of the proposals in this work. The authors understand that the main implication of this paper is mainly in providing guidance to researchers, particularly those dealing with qualitative research, on how they could improve the quality of their research.

In the present study the quality of interpretation services is measured against the judgements, needs and expectations of users of that service. Using the methods of empirical social sciences research, it brings together the evaluations produced by a wide range of users and attempts to interpret their significance. User responses were obtained in the context in which the respondents were making use of the interpretation services and the data has been analysed against that background. In addition to the situational context, and to the extent that the empirical data permits, account has also been taken of the degree to which respondents' individual characteristics may have influenced their responses to or expectations of interpreter performance. The full questionnaire and survey results are available here.
