Abstract As COVID-19 quickly spread across the globe to reach pandemic levels, companies across every industry had to quickly adapt their business practices to allow employees to connect virtually and work remotely. This addressed new complications in several areas, including contact tracing. This paper reviews an approach that Siemens Energy took to remove the errors and inefficiencies in manually conducting contact tracing by automating the process using an end-to-end case manager app. The app, which provides full transparency, analytics, and support, fully digitizes contact tracing from each employee's mobile device or computer. We discuss the features of the app, how it has been used in the UAE region, and the benefits that the company has realized in automating contact tracing—including faster tracing time, improved accuracy, and greater compliance with UAE COVID requirements. In just a few months’ time, the app went from an idea to a fully-developed and widely used application—which is now approved for use in company facilities and business units around the world.

The article considers business practices of Moscow small industry in the XIX century, basing upon physiological sketches of N. Polevoy and I. Kokorev, statistical data and the classification of professions are also presented. The author claims that the heroes of the analyzed sketches are the forefathers of Moscow small businesses and shows what a deep similarity their occupations and a way of life bear to the present-day routine existence of small enterprises.

The report by the UNCTAD Secretariat, submitted to the third session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development held in Santiago (Chile) in April 1972, deals with the restrictive business practices of the multinational corporations with special reference to the export interests of the developing countries. Since the world war, there has been a tremendous growth in the size and activities of many international firms. They have grown from the national corporation to the multidivisional corporation and now to the multinational corporation. With each step they acquired greater financial power, better technology and know-how and more complex administrative structures. They have subsidiaries and branches all over the world. In the course of the sixties they became one of the dominant factors in determining the pattern of world trade. At the same time, their increasingly restrictive business practices, which tended to adversely affect world trade and the export interest of less developed countries, attracted the attention of the governments both in developed and less developed countries and serious concern was shown at the international level. It is against this background that the UNCTAD undertook the study on the question of restrictive business practices.

Lipreading aims to recognize sentences being spoken by a talking face. In recent years, the lipreading method has achieved a high level of accuracy on large datasets and made breakthrough progress. However, lipreading is still far from being solved, and existing methods tend to have high error rates on the wild data and have the defects of disappearing training gradient and slow convergence. To overcome these problems, we proposed an efficient end-to-end sentence-level lipreading model, using an encoder based on a 3D convolutional network, ResNet50, Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN), and a CTC objective function as the decoder. More importantly, the proposed architecture incorporates TCN as a feature learner to decode feature. It can partly eliminate the defects of RNN (LSTM, GRU) gradient disappearance and insufficient performance, and this yields notable performance improvement as well as faster convergence. Experiments show that the training and convergence speed are 50% faster than the state-of-the-art method, and improved accuracy by 2.4% on the GRID dataset.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has posed an ongoing global crisis, but how the virus spread across the world remains poorly understood. This is of vital importance for informing current and future pandemic response strategies. Methods We performed two independent analyses, travel network-based epidemiological modelling and Bayesian phylogeographic inference, to investigate the intercontinental spread of COVID-19. Results Both approaches revealed two distinct phases of COVID-19 spread by the end of March 2020. In the first phase, COVID-19 largely circulated in China during mid-to-late January 2020 and was interrupted by containment measures in China. In the second and predominant phase extending from late February to mid-March, unrestricted movements between countries outside of China facilitated intercontinental spread, with Europe as a major source. Phylogenetic analyses also revealed that the dominant strains circulating in the USA were introduced from Europe. However, stringent restrictions on international travel across the world since late March have substantially reduced intercontinental transmission. Conclusions Our analyses highlight that heterogeneities in international travel have shaped the spatiotemporal characteristics of the pandemic. Unrestricted travel caused a large number of COVID-19 exportations from Europe to other continents between late February and mid-March, which facilitated the COVID-19 pandemic. Targeted restrictions on international travel from countries with widespread community transmission, together with improved capacity in testing, genetic sequencing and contact tracing, can inform timely strategies for mitigating and containing ongoing and future waves of COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the last quarter of a century there has been an emergence of a tissue engineering industry, one that has now evolved into the broader area of regenerative medicine. There have been ‘ups and downs’ in this industry; however, it now appears to be on a track that may be described as ‘back to the future’. The latest data indicate that for 2007 the private sector activity in the world for this industry is approaching $2.5 billion, with 167 companies/business units and more than 6000 employee full time equivalents. Although small compared with the medical device and also the pharmaceutical industries, these numbers are not insignificant. Thus, there is the indication that this industry, and the related technology, may still achieve its potential and address the needs of millions of patients worldwide, in particular those with needs that currently are unmet.

Innovation can be defined as the implementation of a new or significantly improved product (good or service), or a process, a new marketing method, a new organizational  method in business practices, workplace organization, or external relations. This innovation can be measured by several factors such as investments in research and development, the concentration of high-tech companies traded on the stock exchange, among others. The present study aims to perform a cluster analysis to investigate the behavior of the most innovative countries when compared to Brazil. The study contemplates a historical series from the years 2012 to 2015 of the 30 most innovative countries in the world having been added to Brazil. In addition, a series of macroeconomic, political and social variables.

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of studying the features of the properties of poorly studied oils at great depths (more than 4,500 m), the need for development of which is caused by the continuing decline in oil production in traditional oil producing provinces. The analysis of the spatial distribution of reserves across the continents and countries of deep-seated oils and changes in their physico-chemical properties and the occurrence conditions, which made it possible to identify their main features. The studies used information on 21067 oil samples from 167 oil-bearing basins of the world, obtained from the database on the physicochemical properties of oils. The features of the physicochemical properties of deep-seated oils have been established, which are manifested in a decrease in the density and viscosity of oils, in a decrease in the content of sulfur and asphalt-resinous substances, and in an increase in the content of light fractions and oil gas in comparison with oils of small and medium depths.

Implementation of business education in the world of education is very important. However, many theories and teaching monotonous nature led to the knowledge of the business is difficult to be well understood. Thus, to introduce supply chain management as the business processes of an enterprise, it takes a learning method that is more innovative and creative as well as promoting business practices. One method of teaching that can address these problems is with education game business simulation genre. Chocorillo: The Lost Recipes is an educational game that teaches the business of business learning, especially concerning supply chain management which is packed with gameplay that is fun and exciting game story. This game there are 29 characters that the player can interact with them, doing quests from them, and resolve social problems that occur. The creation of this work is expected to generate business educational game that can provide learning effects without compromising the beauty aspect of the graphics so players do not get bored easily in use.Keywords: Android, game edukasi, bisnis, unity, supply chain management. AbstrakPenerapan pendidikan bisnis dalam dunia pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting. Akan tetapi, banyaknya teori dan sifat pengajaran yang monoton menyebabkan pengetahuan akan bisnis sulit untuk dipahami dengan baik. Dengan demikian, untuk memperkenalkan supply chain management sebagai proses bisnis suatu perusahaan, dibutuhkan sebuah metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan kreatif serta mengedepankan praktik dalam bisnis.
