Abstract BackgroundThe increasing desire of the community towards fulfilling the practical needs of life is currently accommodated by the rapid development of communication technology in the last five years in Indonesia. One example is the emergence of various food delivery applications. This will affect the pattern of daily food consumption in the community. Therefore, this study determined the personal and socio-environmental factors that influence the frequency of online food ordering (OFO) behavior and also high-risk food consumption through online food delivery services (OFDS) among young adults in Depok City. MethodsThis research was a cross-sectional study conducted with 686 participants of young adults aged 20–39 years that lived in Depok City, West Java Province, Indonesia, for minimal the last six months. They were administered a questionnaire through Alchemer, formerly SurveyGizmo. Descriptive statistics were employed for all variables measured. A T-test and a Chi-square test were conducted to determine the factors influencing the OFO frequency and high-risk food consumption through OFDS. Predictor variables were generated using multi-logistic regression models. The predictor for the frequency of OFO behavior was satisfaction toward OFDS (ß = 3.3; CI: 2.4–4.7; p-value = 0.000), while those for high-risk food consumption were personal and socio-environmental factors (ß = 1.8; CI: 1.3–2.5; p-value = 0.001 and ß = 1.7; CI: 1.2–2.4; p-value = 0.001, respectively).ResultsThe personal and socio-environmental factors related to the frequency of OFO behavior were attitudes toward risk, benefit, barriers, features of OFDS, satisfaction with OFDS, socio-environmental influence, perception about OFDS, and online food preference. Furthermore, the factors associated with high-risk food consumption through OFDS were attitudes toward benefit, features, satisfaction with OFDS, socio-environmental influence, perception about OFDS, online food preference, and knowledge of OFDS. ConclusionsSatisfaction, social environment, and food preference play essential roles in OFDS. The findings demonstrated the urgency of conducting further studies to elaborate on the association of OFDS with non-communicable diseases.

Abstract Objectives Meteorological factors and climatic variability have an immense influence on the transmission of infectious diseases and significantly impact human health. Present study quantifies the delayed effect of atmospheric temperature on the risk of hospitalization due to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with adjusting the effects of other environmental factors in Mumbai, India. Methods The daily reported data of the number of hospitalized COVID-19 positive cases and the environmental factors at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India were collected and analyzed to quantify the main and the delayed effects. Exploratory data analysis and Distributed Linear and Non-linear lag Model (DLNM) with Generalized Additive Model (GAM) specification have applied to analyze the data. Results The study identified the Diurnal Temperature Range (DTR) delayed effect on the risk of hospitalization changed over the lag period of 0–14 days with increasing Relative Risk (RR) at the low DTR and decreasing RR at the higher DTR values. The extreme DTR suggests a high risk of hospitalization at earlier lags (i.e., 0–5 days). DTR’s cumulative effect was significant at higher 0–10 lag days (p-value <0.05). Exposure to the low and moderate DTR suggests a high risk of hospitalization with more than six days of lag. The RR for daily average humidity with 95% C.I was 0.996 (0.967, 1.027). The risk of hospitalization due to COVID-19 showed an increasing nature (p-value <0.05) with the increase in air pollution and average wind speed (WSAvg) at lag 0. Also, the risk of hospitalization changed through different lag periods of DTR. The analysis confirms the higher amount of delayed effect due to low DTR compared with moderate and high DTR. Conclusions The study suggests that both the climatic variations and air quality have significant impact on the transmission of the global pandemic COVID-19.

Online food delivery services have experienced tremendous growth in the food industry. Food delivery apps had gathered this opportunity adjusting to restaurant and food delivery services as an alternative to increasing income and for customers to remotely order their foods. This study aims to determine the relationship between information quality, performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence with continuous use intention of food delivery apps from Malaysian young adults’ context. In this study, a total of 300 sets of questionnaires were successfully collected. The data was interpreted using SPSS Version 25. At the end of the study, it was found that the results of the analysis to be a positive relationship between information quality, performance expectancy and social influence with continuous use intention of food delivery apps among young adults. This study also revealed that social influence as the most influential factor affecting continuous use intention of food delivery apps.

Pneumonia disease is the leading cause of death of babies in the world. The prevalence of pneumonia in infants is 18.5 / mil. Data from Samarinda City Health Office during the last 1 year there are 91 cases of pneumonia in Karang Anyar Village and 63 cases in Teluk Lerong Ulu Village. Factors causing pneumonia are toddler factors, behavioral factors, and environmental factors. The results show there is a relationship between house humidity (p value = 0,013; OR = 0,192), house dwelling density (p value = 0,024; OR = 0,214), and family member smoking behavior (p value = 0,006; OR = 10,450) with incidence of pneumonia in toddlers in the Working Area of Puskesmas Wonorejo Samarinda. There was no correlation between house temperature (p value = 0,214; OR = 0,337), house lighting (p value = 0,095; OR = 3,188) and family disease history (p value = 0,707; OR = 0,753) with Pneumonia occurrence in infant in region Work Puskesmas Wonorejo Samarinda. It was concluded that there was a relationship between house humidity, home dwelling density, and smoking behavior of family members with the incidence of pneumonia in infants. It is recommended to be able to apply housing health requirements that meet health standards to reduce the incidence of pneumonia in infants and change smoking habits.

Abstract Background Undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with adverse perioperative outcomes. The STOP-Bang questionnaire is a validated screening tool for OSA. However, its precision may vary among different populations. This study determined the association between high-risk OSA based on the modified STOP-Bang questionnaire and perioperative adverse events. Methods This cross-sectional study included patients undergoing elective surgery from December 2018 to February 2019. The modified STOP-Bang questionnaire includes a history of Snoring, daytime Tiredness, Observed apnea, high blood Pressure, Body mass index > 30 kg/m2, Age > 50, Neck circumference > 40 cm, and male Gender. High risk for OSA was considered as a score ≥ 3. Results Overall, 400 patients were included, and 18.3% of patients experienced perioperative adverse events. On the basis of modified STOP-Bang, the incidence of perioperative adverse events was 23.2 and 13.8% in patients with high risk and low risk (P-value 0.016) (Original STOP-Bang: high risk 22.5% vs. low risk 14.7%, P-value 0.043). Neither modified nor original STOP-Bang was associated with perioperative adverse events (adjusted OR 1.91 (95% CI 0.99–3.66), P-value 0.055) vs. 1.69 (95%CI, 0.89–3.21), P-value 0.106). Modified STOP-Bang ≥3 could predict the incidence of difficult ventilation, laryngoscopic view ≥3, need for oxygen therapy during discharge from postanesthetic care unit and ICU admission. Conclusions Neither modified nor original STOP-Bang was significantly associated with perioperative adverse events. However, a modified STOP-Bang ≥3 can help identify patients at risk of difficult airway, need for oxygen therapy, and ICU admission. Background: Real-life data on the administration of letermovir as cytomegalovirus (CMV) primary prophylaxis after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) remain limited. Methods: We conducted a retrospective single-center matched cohort study, comparing consecutive high-risk allogeneic HCT recipients (cases) receiving primary prophylaxis with letermovir and untreated matched historical controls, during a study period of 180 days. The primary outcome was the incidence of clinically significant (cs) CMV infection. Secondary outcomes included duration and costs of CMV-antiviral treatments, hospital resource utilization, hematology and laboratory parameters. Results: Letermovir prophylaxis decreased csCMV infection incidence from 82.7% (controls) to 34.5% (cases; p-value < 0.0001). Controls were more likely to have >1 episode of csCMV infection (59.6%) compared to cases (11.5%; p-value < 0.0001). Letermovir was associated with: shorter overall CMV-associated treatment duration (49 days vs. 77.8 days; p-value: 0.02) and a trend for lower costs of CMV-associated treatments ($4096 vs. $9736; p-value: 0.07) and reduced length of stay (44.8 days vs. 59.8 days; p-value: 0.16). Letermovir administration was associated with significantly shorter duration (27.3 days vs. 57.1 days; p-value: 0.008) and lower costs ($1089 vs. $2281; p-value: 0.008) of valganciclovir treatment. Compared to controls, higher platelet counts were observed in cases (138 G/L vs. 92 G/L; p-value: 0.03) and renal function was improved (94 mL/min/1.73 m2 vs. 74 mL/min/1.73 m2; p-value: 0.006). Conclusions: Primary anti-CMV letermovir prophylaxis decreased the incidence of csCMV infection and the administration of CMV-associated treatments and costs, particularly those associated with valganciclovir. An effect of letermovir on platelet reconstitution and renal function of csCMV post-HCT was observed and needs further investigation.

AbstractIncreasing body and brain size constitutes a key macro-evolutionary pattern in the hominin lineage, yet the mechanisms behind these changes remain debated. Hypothesized drivers include environmental, demographic, social, dietary, and technological factors. Here we test the influence of environmental factors on the evolution of body and brain size in the genus Homo over the last one million years using a large fossil dataset combined with global paleoclimatic reconstructions and formalized hypotheses tested in a quantitative statistical framework. We identify temperature as a major predictor of body size variation within Homo, in accordance with Bergmann’s rule. In contrast, net primary productivity of environments and long-term variability in precipitation correlate with brain size but explain low amounts of the observed variation. These associations are likely due to an indirect environmental influence on cognitive abilities and extinction probabilities. Most environmental factors that we test do not correspond with body and brain size evolution, pointing towards complex scenarios which underlie the evolution of key biological characteristics in later Homo.

The purpose of this study was to study the association between the presence of generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) and anxiety within a non-clinical high performing group of adolescents and young adults. Second, to study the impact of GJH and/or anxiety on physical and psychosocial functioning, 168 adolescents and young adults (mean (SD) age 20 (2.9)) were screened. Joint (hyper)mobility, anxiety, and physical and psychosocial functioning were measured. In 48.8% of all high performing adolescents and young adults, GJH was present, whereas 60% had symptoms of anxiety. Linear models controlled for confounders showed that adolescents and young adults with GJH and anxiety had decreased workload (ß (95%CI) −0.43 (−0.8 to −0.08), p-value 0.02), increased fatigue (ß (95%CI) 12.97 (6.3–19.5), p-value < 0.01), and a higher level of pain catastrophizing (ß (95%CI) 4.5 (0.5–8.6), p-value 0.03). Adolescents and young adults with only anxiety had increased fatigue (ß (95%CI) 11 (4.9–19.5). In adolescents and young adults with GJH alone, no impact on physical and psychosocial functioning was found. Adolescents and young adults with the combination of GJH and anxiety were significantly more impaired, showing decreased physical and psychosocial functioning with decreased workload, increased fatigue, and pain catastrophizing. Presence of GJH alone had no negative impact on physical and psychosocial functioning. This study confirms the association between GJH and anxiety, but especially emphasizes the disabling role of anxiety. Screening for anxiety is relevant in adolescents and young adults with GJH and might influence tailored interventions.
