The aim of this article is to understand to what extent imaginaries can play a role in the construction of an innovative market. We conducted a market-oriented ethnography of the nanotechnology market construction process, analysing the strategies of three categories of stakeholders: consumers, opponents and promoters. The results reveal a new form of market construction: symbolic construction. In the case of nanotechnologies, this is based on two primary mechanisms: (1) the promotional mechanics of imaginaries, which favour the market through the simultaneous use of familiar and futuristic imaginaries; and (2) ‘meaning activism’, which challenges the market using dystopian imaginaries. This research advocates an interpretive approach to innovation, enriching the marketing literature on innovation and the social construction of markets; it also highlights certain managerial insights generated by this approach.

Institutional theorists have recently been moving towards a notion that non-isomorphic institutional change is precipitated by significant events or ‘jolts’. In this paper, we argue that in doing so theorists have tended to move away from the social constructivist roots of institutional theory towards an understanding which implies the emergence of new organizational forms or practices in response to functional imperatives. In this context, we examine the ongoing institutional change from photography to digital imaging. Our analysis suggests that attributing institutional change to a single event or ‘jolt’ leads to a flawed understanding of institutional change processes. We demonstrate that, rather than causing institutional change, events are a part of the change process, and only become significant as actors bring them to our notice and ‘theorize’ around them (Greenwood et al. 2002). This social construction process determines the scope, significance and relevance of events, leading to the development of new artifacts and the enrolment of new stakeholders in the field. Situating events within the theorization process, rather than outside it, underlines the importance of focusing on social construction processes in accounts of institutional change.

Education function to develop the ability and form the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the nation’s life. This is in line with the values and norms of Indonesian society is far from materialism, But along with the influx of globalization and modernization, the value and meaning of education is often biased. The occurrence of bias in the interpretation of the meaning of education is caused by social change. research of education bias in Bima community gives an idea how education values can not be interpreted well by a society. Peter L Berger is one of the sociologists who discussed the whole process of social construction. Using the social construction theory of Peter L Berger, it can be seen that the people of Bima undergo a process of social change consisting of; (a) Changes in education patterns in Bima from Islamic education to secular education, (b) Conversion of society’s high social status, related to education which is a social construction process in Bima society about one’s social status. So from the analysis can be seen that education for the community Bima has a very important role in determining the position of a person’s social status. Patient Companions (spiritual guidance for patients) at Al-Irsyad Hospital in Surabaya has been around since 2013. Al-Irsyad Hospital is an Islamic hospital that involves 'Friends of Patients' who can provide spiritual needs even when needed to strengthen the patient's mind in the process of healing. The construction process carried out by Friends of Patients is not only for patients but also for all components of the hospital, especially for employees as an Islamic hospital culture. The theoretical framework of this study is the social construction of Peter L Berger and Thomas Luckman. This type of research is qualitative research and how to determine the informants in this study using purposive techniques. Retrieval of data using observation, interviews, and documentation. While the data validity test in this study uses data triangulation, the findings of this study indicate that there is a change in perspective regarding pain, among others, illness is a trial and test from God. Illness is a form of forgiveness of sins and errors of God. The disease also elevates human degrees. Therefore, patients can reinterpret the meaning of the pain they are suffering from and realize that they are God's creatures. Keywords: spiritual needs, Islamic hospitals, a reinterpretation of illness, illness, patients. Referensi: Arifin, Isep Zainal. 2012. Abstract: There exists today a large consensus among scholars of different disciplines that regions are more than a geographical concept and that they are socially constructed. This implies that somehow people must play a role in the emergence of a region as an entity of governance and as a source of identity. But the relation between regions and the socio-psychological processes that constitute them remains unclear. This article aims to clarify what the social construction process of a region means and what kind of psychological processes play a role in it as well how such social construction relates with how regions contribute to people’s identity formation. For this theoretical exercise, use will be made of the so-called Vygotsky scheme that distinguishes between four different conversational spaces.

Social construction is one of the approach in community development. This research aimed to find out the process and results of the social construction of community development through the Integrated Community Development (ICD) Rumah Zakat program in Mekarwangi Village, West Bandung Regency. Mekarwangi Village was one of the target of the ICD program which was considered quite successful in the program implementation by the Rumah Zakat. The social construction of community development in Mekarwangi Village goes through stages of externalization, objectification, and internalization. This stage of social construction was obtained through the results of the dialectical process. This research used qualitative method with a case study approach. Primary data were obtained from informants through observation and in-depth interviews. Secondary data were obtained through relevant literature. These method and approach were used to describe, analyze data and field information that was appropriate with the actual conditions factually and thoroughly about the social construction process of community development through the Integrated Community Development (ICD) Rumah Zakat program in Mekarwangi Village, West Bandung Regency. This was appropriate with the society social construction process proposed by Berger and Luckman (1990). The results of the research shows that dialectics of social construction occurs simultaneously from externalization, objectification until internalization. The externalization process was carried out by preparing a facilitator (RI), making social mapping, formulating an action plan, and reaching the socialization stage. The objectification process was carried out after the community was familiar with the ICD RZ program and starts implementing it. The internalization process was the re-absorption of the program into each community to raise awareness for the importance of the program existence for individuals.
