Vulnerability is the capacity to anticipate, cope with, resist and recover from the impact of natural disasters. Floods add to the distressed conditions of the poor and vulnerable people in Bihar. Floods have a different impact on households depending on differences in their livelihood choices. Therefore, in order to identify the variability in vulnerability of affected households, the livelihood vulnerability index (LVI) of Hahn, Riederer and Foster was modified according to the context of the study area. The LVI aims to identify sources and forms of vulnerability that are specific to the context in order to design context-specific resilience measures. However, vulnerability and resilience are not interdependent but discrete entities. The study was conducted in the seven blocks of Bhagalpur district in the state of Bihar. Naugachia was found to be the least vulnerable because of better access to basic amenities and livelihood strategies, whilst Kharik was found to be highly vulnerable in respect to other blocks because of high sensitivity and less adaptive strategy. The study also revealed that better access to resources does not necessarily mean that households are adopting resilience measures because of apathetic or indifferent attitudes.

Abstract: This article discusses the study of the problem of poverty based on the narrative of the offering of the poor widow in Mark 12: 41-44. By using qualitative methods or more precisely literature review, the authors conclude that there needs to be an encounter with them beforehand so that through encounters with poor people, both writers and we can also gain a deeper understanding of God's heart, not only for ourselves, for the poor and the weak, but also for everyone around the world. However, because poor people are the most vulnerable people to be treated unfairly, it is necessary to formulate solidarity with the poor in order to realize the Kingdom of God in the world.

Sokoto State Zakat and Waqf (Endowment) Commission aims to eradicate extreme poverty among the poor and vulnerable people, mostly rural people inhabiting Sokoto state in Northwestern Nigeria. To achieve this aim, SOZECOM is currently restructuring its zakat, waqf and general administration processes. Part of the restructuring is the need to utilize the extensive network of paid and volunteer personnel, vast amount of data and several collaborative efforts with other institutions inorder to explore the potentials of digital finance in the administration of zakat and waqf. A major constraint toward the realization of aim is the limited digital capability of SOZECOM .As a first imperative the need to develop SOZECOM’s institutional capacity through the strengthening of its digital capabilities was identified. This paper outlines the framework for itbuilding the capabilities needed to successfully navigate the digital economy and align its operations toward such realization

Social protection meets different aspects of the needs of vulnerable groups, such as the economic, health, education, and family relations and ties in the Iraqi society. This is because vulnerable groups have suffered from social and economic influences that have negative implications on the social reality as a whole. Poverty is a case in point, which paved the way to frequent setbacks that have led to social structure instability. Accordingly, the present study aims to examine the role and effect of the Net of Social Protection Program in equally distributing social protection to curb or mitigate any negative consequnces that might happen to the poor segments and vulnerable people, who are succeptible to shocks, such as: the orphans, unemployed, disabled and the poor. Since such a step reduces poverty rates, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has sought through its social protection network programs to achieve equality, the biggest achievement to the country. Having examined the issue, the researcher has found that there is no social justice in distributing material guarantees to the poor or the people in need. There are several individuals whose names are registered in the lists of the people in need. Such names are either fake or belong to people who do not really need such aids. According the puposes behind the present aims are to: maintain fairness in distributing cash collaterals for the people who live below the poverty line in need, overcome the difficulties of coping with the poor community, deal with those people positively, and uplift them. The study has concluded that the number of poor people is increasing in the Iraqi society. Besides, such groups of people need to be respected, severed and provided with a decent way of living. All such rights are part and parcel of human rights.

AbstractThis article aims to understand, in the religious sphere, in what ways do religions face the crisis caused by Covid-19, as well as how it impacted the faithful communities, praxis, discourse and above all, what sense was attributed to this event. Through this, we aim to frame the religious and doctrinal narrative of each philosophical and religious schools of thought while minding the fact that religions play an important role in the development of human beings. We aim to understand the stance of religions faced with the task of dealing with Covid-19, such as how the suspended their physical religious services due to prophylactic confinement to provide spiritual aid to the faithful community, as well as their ways of organizing themselves in order to constantly provide people with their social intervention and beneficence, especially when regarding the poor and vulnerable people in our society. We also touch on the spiritual or religious sense of the pandemic in terms of symbolism. This article only reflects upon the religious sphere.

Even though many early workers had suggested the use of lower voltages to increase topographic contrast and to reduce specimen charging and beam damage, we did not usually operate in the conventional scanning electron microscope at low voltage because of the poor resolution, especially of bioligical specimens. However, the development of the “in-lens” field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) has led to marked inprovement in resolution, especially in the range of 1-5 kV, within the past year. The probe size has been cumulated to be 0.7nm in diameter at 30kV and about 3nm at 1kV. We have been trying to develop techniques to use this in-lens FESEM at low voltage (LVSEM) for direct observation of totally uncoated biological specimens and have developed the LVSEM method for the biological field.

A number of papers have appeared recently which purport to have carried out x-ray microanalysis on fully frozen hydrated samples. It is important to establish reliable criteria to be certain that a sample is in a fully hydrated state. The morphological appearance of the sample is an obvious parameter because fully hydrated samples lack the detailed structure seen in their freeze dried counterparts. The electron scattering by ice within a frozen-hydrated section and from the surface of a frozen-hydrated fracture face obscures cellular detail. (Fig. 1G and 1H.) However, the morphological appearance alone can be quite deceptive for as Figures 1E and 1F show, parts of frozen-dried samples may also have the poor morphology normally associated with fully hydrated samples. It is only when one examines the x-ray spectra that an assurance can be given that the sample is fully hydrated.

Computer synthesized vowels of 50- and 300-ms duration were presented to normal-hearing listeners at a moderate and high sound pressure level (SPL). Presentation at the high SPL resulted in poor recognition accuracy for vowels of a duration (50 ms) shorter than the latency of the acoustic stapedial reflex. Presentation level had no effect on recognition accuracy for vowels of sufficient duration (300 ms) to elicit the reflex. The poor recognition accuracy for the brief, high intensity vowels was significantly improved when the reflex was preactivated. These results demonstrate the importance of the acoustic reflex in extending the dynamic range of the auditory system for speech recognition.
