The association between HP infection and CAH development suggested by the Correa cascade is supported by several cohort studies. To diagnose and determine the severity of atrophy at the Center, patients underwent a serological analysis by ELISA method in the clinical and biochemical laboratory of the State Institution "RSNPMCT and MR". Analyzes were taken in 69 (58.5%) patients, including 35 (50.7%) with CAH, 34 (49.3%) with CNG. Analysis of the non-invasive indicator of the level of pepsinogens in patients with CAH determined that severe atrophy was detected in 20%, moderate atrophy - 42.9%, weak atrophy - 34.3%, and no atrophy was found in 2.9% of patients. The pepsinogen parameters in patients with CNG were also as follows: PG I was within 95.4 ± 7.2 μg / L, PG II 14.5 ± 1.3 and PGI / PGII 6.6 ± 0.2. Pepsinogen values were more pronounced in patients with CAH: with a pronounced degree of atrophy, PGI was 8.7 ± 0.1 μg / l and PGI / PGII was 1.1 ± 0.1; with moderate atrophy 16.6 ± 0.9 μg / l and 1.6 ± 0.1; with mild atrophy 27.2 ± 1.5 and 2.3 ± 0.2, respectively.

Background: Etiology of various gastrointestinal dysfunctions varies from infections and infestations to consequences of emotional stress and errors in animals’ nutrition. Taking this variability of etiology and pathogenesis into account, a lot depends not only on completeness of homeopathic history taking but also on the quality of laboratory studies. In our experience, coprology studies are especially complicated when persistent gastrointestinal disorders were preceded by massive use of allopathic remedies. This sometimes necessitates repeated examinations. That is why our interest in having reliable results and early detection of latent indigestion made us look for non-invasive methods which could be easy to use in animals but at the same time could reveal latent gastrointestinal pathology in animals. Aims: The study was aimed to determine the effect of a homeopathic medication Nux Vomica 6CH on detection of latent gastrointestinal pathology in small domestic animals. Method: Coprology studies were performed simultaneously with the use of sedimentation method and Fulleborn method (modification of Scherbovich). Infestations were diagnosed and characteristics of patient digestion were recorded. Feces test detected: 1. Presence of endoparasites (helminths, protozoa and yeast-like structures); 2. State of intestinal microflora (presence of different species and their balance with each other); 3. Degree of food absorbency (presence or lack of undigested protein, carbohydrates and fat); 4. Presence of inedible inclusions; 5. Presence of cells (lymphocytes, erythrocytes, intestinal epithelium, tumor fragments). If animal feces tests were non-informative, then all medications (except vitally important) were discontinued and Nux Vomica 6CH twice a day twenty minutes prior to food intake was prescribed for 6 days (4 globules dissolved in 10 ml of water). Results: 4500 coprology tests were performed during 3 years in cats and dogs. About 10% of the total number of examined animals (449 patients) produced very little information about the state of gastrointestinal systems at the first examination. When these cases were analyzed, the following reasons were found: long-term use of strong drugs, significant weakening of body immune system. As a result diagnostic tests were of very little value. These animals were treated by Nux Vomica 6CH for 6 days and then repeated feces test was performed. This produced a more informative picture of the state of gastrointestinal system and enabled to determine etiology and pathogenesis of the animal condition and prescribe necessary treatment. Conclusion. In such a way, Nux Vomica 6CH homeopathic remedy promoted effective optimization of coprology studies in animals. The suggested scheme of use for Nux Vomica 6CH significantly improves feces test quality. This in turn reduces time needed to choose strategy and tactics of treatment of small domestic animals with different chronic diseases.

AbstractNeuroplasticity is essential to learning and memory in the brain; it has therefore also been implicated in numerous neurological and psychiatric disorders, making measuring the state of neuroplasticity of foremost importance to clinical neuroscience. Long-term potentiation (LTP) is a key mechanism of neuroplasticity and has been studied extensively, and invasively in non-human animals. Translation to human application largely relies on the validation of non-invasive measures of LTP. The current study provides validation for the use of a thalamocortical computational model of visual cortex for investigating and replicating interlaminar connectivity changes using non-invasive EEG recording of humans, and a commonly used visual sensory LTP paradigm. The model demonstrated remarkable accuracy recapitulating post-tetanus changes including increased excitatory connectivity from thalamus to layer IV and from layer IV to II/III. The findings also further validate visual sensory induced LTP and evoked potential modulation for measuring of the state of LTP in cortex.

A multi-analytical approach has been employed to investigate the painting Natura Morta (1954–1955) by Andreina Rosa (1924–2019) to assess the state of conservation and to understand more about the painting materials and techniques of this artwork, which was recently donated by the painter’s heirs to the International Gallery of Modern Art Ca’ Pesaro (Venice-Italy). A comprehensive and systematic diagnostic campaign was carried out, mainly adopting non-invasive imaging and spectroscopic methods, such as technical photography, optical microscopy, hyperspectral imaging spectroscopy (HIS), fiber optics reflectance spectroscopy (FORS), External Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared (ER-FTIR), and Raman spectroscopies. Microsamples, collected from the edges of the canvas in areas partially detached, were studied by Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). By crossing the information gained, it was possible to make inferences about the composition of the groundings and the painted layers, the state of conservation of the artwork, and the presence of degradation phenomena. Hence, the present study may be of interest for conservation purposes as well as for enhancing the artistic activity of Andreina Rosa. The final aim was to provide useful information for the Gallery which recently included this painting in its permanent collection.

The reliability of non-invasive prenatal testing is highly dependent on accurate estimation of fetal fraction. Several methods have been proposed up to date, utilizing different attributes of analyzed genomic material, for example length and genomic location of sequenced DNA fragments. These two sources of information are relatively unrelated, but so far, there have been no published attempts to combine them to get an improved predictor. We collected 2454 single euploid male fetus samples from women undergoing NIPT testing. Fetal fractions were calculated using several proposed predictors and the state-of-the-art SeqFF method. Predictions were compared with the reference Y-based method. We demonstrate that prediction based on length of sequenced DNA fragments may achieve nearly the same precision as the state-of-the-art methods based on their genomic locations. We also show that combination of several sample attributes leads to a predictor that has superior prediction accuracy over any single approach. Finally, appropriate weighting of samples in the training process may achieve higher accuracy for samples with low fetal fraction and so allow more reliability for subsequent testing for genomic aberrations. We propose several improvements in fetal fraction estimation with a special focus on the samples most prone to wrong conclusion.

A method for diagnosing and monitoring the patient’s general condition has been developed, including the use of the specially developed and registered for clinical use of the device OKO Capillaroscope for non-invasive, non-contact video recording under a large increase in blood flow in the human bulbar conjunctival microvessels using special software that allows: measuring movement speed erythrocytes in individual arterioles, venules, and in the main preferred channels; to fix in microvessels the possible presence of sludge syndrome, stasis of the erythrocyte movement; to assess the number and shape of capillaries, the presence of arteriolar-venular anastomoses, the identity of blood flow in the microvessels of the conjunctiva in the right and left eye; measure arteriole diameters and venules. The method is aimed at a clinical study of the parameters of the microcirculation of the conjunctiva at rest, which allows extrapolating the recorded parameters of the intravascular (rheological) part of the microcirculation system to the state of the microhemodynamics of the whole organism, which reflects the state of general homeostasis. The method can be applied to control and monitor the general condition of a person or patient in any research in experimental, sports or therapeutic purposes, since the determined digital parameters of microcirculation allow to assess the general condition of a person, the response to physical exertion and evaluate the completeness and completeness of therapeutic treatment in various pathologies due to somatic or local degenerative changes in the patient’s body.
