The key research interest of this paper is focused on identifying the presence and nature of opportunities for interaction between the region as an integral entity and its urban territories, represented by specific socio-cultural centers in the field of management practices. The author identifies the conceptual components of interactions of the region as a whole and its urban settlements, at the institutional level and in the views of the leaders: “moral region”, “neighborhood effect”, “cultural potential of the city”, which allow to identify contradictions in the studied object and outline further research prospects. Transformation of basic social institutions – family, education, culture, religion at the level of the region makes this property is transitive, which requires the use of nonlinear analysis approach to study its Genesis, identify the key approaches to understanding that in the future will allow us to build an integrated research program. The methodological model of the study is based on the integral approach of the founder of American urban sociology R. Park and the Russian urban scientist V.L. Glazychev. This allows us to generalize the existing data on the issue of interest to us and to find common patterns in the development of urban socio-cultural centers, as well as to analyze management practices. The empirical basis of the research is based on (1) semi-structured interviews with the heads of socio-cultural centers of urban settlements (libraries, museums, galleries, theaters, etc.) (n=10) conducted by the author in 2020; (2) data from the territorial body of the Federal state statistics service for the Kursk region for 2019; (3) secondary data from studies conducted in the socio-cultural centers of the Tobolsk, Ulyanovsk regions, the North Caucasus and Yakutia. As auxiliary methods, the study uses such General scientific methods as comparative analysis and comparative analysis of secondary sociological data. A descriptive method was also used to determine the degree of knowledge of management practices in the development of urban socio-cultural centers. For a comprehensive assessment of regional urban communities as an object of management influence, the analysis of statistical data for recent years was used. The author’s conclusions can be formulated as follows: first, the interaction of urban territorial entities with the region as an integral system is currently presented as an institutionalized reserve for the development of its socio-cultural potential, establishing intra-and interregional relations; second, the main contradictions found in the results of the study were recorded in the twentieth century, and still remain unresolved: at the regional level and at the level of individual territories, managers measure the effectiveness of their work by heating up resources, increasing volumes and formalizing activities, while the population prefers a qualitative transformation of reality with elements of innovation and filling existing voids in the architectural and symbolic sense.

This study aims to explore the financial management practices ofsmall-and-medium-enterprises (SMEs) in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek). We investigate into 3 SME cases by conducting the semi-structured interviews with the owner-managers and using direct observations to know the practices of financial management of SMEs. Through the research, we have found six propositions related to the practice of short-term financial management. They apply bootstraps to ensure availability of working capital. They set aside cash reserves from retained earnings and minimize loans from financial institutions. They have the computerized system to track receivables facilitating working capital needs. They keep theirinventory control efficient to manage working capital. They screen customers using transactional records and reputations to minimize the risk of bad debts.

Students' Independent Professional Activity in Pedagogical PracticeThe topicality of the research is determined by the need for changes in higher education concerned with implementing the principles of sustainable education. The article focuses on teacher training, highlighting the teacher's profession as an attractive choice of one's career that permits to ensure the development of general and professional skills and an opportunity for new specialists to align with the labour market. The empirical study of students' understanding of their professional activity and of the conditions for its formation is conducted by applying structured interviews (of practice supervisors, students, academic staff); students and experts' questionnaire. Comparative analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and triangulation were used in case studies. As a result, a framework of pedagogical practice organisation has been created in order to form students' independent professional activity. The criteria and indicators of independent professional activity have been formulated and suggestions for designers of study programmes and organisers of the study process have been provided.

Abstract Background In addressing the threat of antimicrobial resistance, it is critical to understand the barriers to the uptake of strategies for the reduction of antimicrobial use (AMU) in the pig industry. In several EU countries, factors such as education level, habits and social pressures are recognised as affecting farmers’ decision-making process in relation to AMU. However, there is a lack of information on the Irish scenario. The aim of this study was to investigate pig farmers’ perspectives and their behaviour towards AMU to identify potential barriers to effectively reduce AMU in Irish pig production. We conducted face-to-face semi-structured interviews with 30 pig farmers, 5 pig veterinarians and 4 focus groups of pig farm personnel. We employed qualitative analyses to explore the objective of the study. Results Qualitative analysis revealed six convergent themes as potential barriers: perceptions about the need for AMU on farm, concept of animal welfare and associated management practices, legislation, culture, economics and standards of communication/type of advice-network. Overall, pig farmers believed that there is poor communication between stakeholders (i.e. farmers, vets and advisors) and a lack of reliable people to approach for advice. They considered themselves as operating responsibly in terms of AMU compared to their national and international colleagues and expressed the importance of a so-called ‘Irish solution’ to the problem of AMU because it was associated with what ‘has always been done’ and was therefore considered reliable and safe. Conclusions Barriers and challenges were in line with those identified in other EU countries highlighting similarities in behavioural and attitudinal patterns among pig farmers. Overall, farmers appeared to be more likely to rely on previous experiences or to wait for an imposed change (e.g. legislation) instead of taking personal action. Thus, considerable behavioural and attitudinal changes are needed to adopt a more responsible AMU in Irish pig production and to develop effective intervention strategies.

Creativity is the key to obtaining and maintaining competitiveness of modern organizations, and it has attracted much attention from academic circles and management practices. Shared leadership is believed to effectively influence team output. However, research on the impact of individual creativity is still in its infancy. This study adopts the qualitative comparative analysis method, taking 1584 individuals as the research objects, underpinned by a questionnaire-based survey. It investigates the influence of the team’s shared leadership network elements and organizational environmental factors on the individual creativity. We have found that there are six combination of conditions of shared leadership and organizational environmental factors constituting sufficient combination of conditions to increase or decrease individual creativity. Moreover, we have noticed that the low network density of shared leadership is a sufficient and necessary condition of reducing individual creativity. Our results also provide management suggestions for practical activities during the team management.

This paper explores the potential for interventions to develop pro-animal welfare habitual behaviours (PAWHBs) in people to improve the lives of animals. Human behavioural research indicates that opportunities exist to deliver lasting change through developing positive habitual behaviours. The routine nature of many equine care and management practices lends itself to habit formation and maintenance. This proof-of-concept paper aims to evaluate a theory-based intervention of developing and maintaining a PAWHB in people caring for equines. Qualitative research methods were used. A 30 day PAWHB intervention (PAWHBInt) of providing enrichment to an equine by scratching them in a consistent context linked to an existing routine behaviour was undertaken. Participants (n = 9) then engaged in semi-structured interviews that were analysed using thematic analysis, where the participants self-reported the outcomes they observed during the intervention. The study findings suggest that the PAWHBInt had a positive impact on human behaviour and habit formation. The research helps to address the dearth of evidence regarding the application of habit theory to equine welfare interventions and emphasised linking a desired new behaviour to an existing routine behaviour when developing PAWHBs. The research also highlights the role of mutual benefit for human and equine, and emotion in providing feedback and potential reward, supporting the link to the cue-routine-reward principle of habit theory.

The series of publications was prepared on the basis of a teaching manual addressed to 10th grade schoolchildren of schools studying the integrative course “Social Studies” (section “Man and Society”), and is a set of materials for independent work. The content of the manual fully meets the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards of Basic General Education and work programs for secondary (complete) education in social studies. The presented theoretical and practical material reveals the main aspects of social life: the essence and functional characteristics of consciousness and activity, ideas about society and social institutions as a system, types of societies, views on culture as a cumulative spiritual experience and “collective memory”, its main institutions — science, religion, morality, education, art. Particular attention is paid to the definition of social progress and global problems of mankind.

Subject. The article considers and compares methods used in the European and domestic practice for determining the poverty line. Objectives. Our aim is to underpin the need to abandon the absolute approach to determining the poverty line in Russia in favor of relative approaches. Methods. We employ general scientific methods of cognition (comparison, analysis, and synthesis) and special methods of economic science (rationed assessments). The data of the Federal State Statistics Service and its territorial bodies, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, etc. serve as the information base of the study. Results. The paper shows the failure of the absolute approach to poverty measurement, reveals its shortcomings, determines that it distorts the picture of economic reality in the study of poverty. We apply the European monetary approach to poverty measurement. The comparative analysis of poverty rates in Western Europe and in Russia confirms the existence of extreme forms of poverty, both in developed European States and in our country. The paper uses the ‘zone theory’ to assess the severity of poverty in Russia; the actual values of these indicators in Western Europe serve as thresholds. Conclusions. The use of the relative monetary approach to measure poverty in the country gives a more accurate idea. Since 2021, Russia has switched to a similar method of calculating the subsistence rate and the minimum wage. Hence, the officially recorded level of poverty in the country will increase, and this will require additional measures to support the poor by the State.

Aim. To assess the correspondence between the results of the European Social Survey (ESS) “The Impact of Medical Activity Bureaucratization on Professional Values of Personnel” and the results of sociological surveys of personnel of medical organizations such as Federal State Budgetary Institution Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases (NII KPSSZ) and Federal State Budgetary Institution “Kuzbass Clinical Cardiology Dispensary named after academician L.S. Barbarash” (GBUZ “KKKD”).Methods. Comparative analysis of the results of ESS (3271 medical workers from 29 countries were questioned) and the results of sociological surveys of the medical personnel at NII KPSSZ (204 respondents in 2017) and at GBUZ “KKKD” (385 respondents in 2021) was carried out.Results. According to the survey data of employees of NII KPSSZ the dominant values are: professionalism and conscientious attitude to work, respectful attitude to colleagues and patients, strict compliance with law and regulatory requirements. Among the main values of GBUZ “KKKD” staff the following were named: discipline and order in fulfilling responsibilities, professionalism and conscientious attitude to work, and respectful attitude to patients.Conclusion. On the basis of the comparative analysis, the authors proved the validity of the conclusions and results of an international study devoted to the problem of the influence of bureaucratization of a medical organization on the structure of personnel values in medical organizations focused only on the treatment and diagnostic process. If an institution functions as a scientific and medical organization, then its employees tend to strive for professional self-development, innovative and creative thinking, which is not consistent with the conclusions of international researchers.
