As a unique form of assessment, authentic assessment tends to focus on contextualised tasks that enable learners to exhibit their proficiency in a more realistic setting. The study was aimed at exploring teachers perceptions and practices of authentic (performance-based) assessment at the basic school level in Ghana. A descriptive survey design was adopted with an accessible population estimated at 1,000. However, 286 respondents were sampled for data collection using the purposive and accidental sampling technique. A 10-item questionnaire with r = .90 was used to collect data which were analysed using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that most teachers at the basic school level have positive perceptions about authentic assessment. Also, it was revealed that most teachers practise authentic (performance-based) assessments at the basic school level. The researchers recommended that the education agencies and heads of schools should periodically organise in-service training, workshops, and seminars to equip teachers with contemporary issues on an authentic assessment like computer-assisted programs. Again the government should liaise with other stakeholders to make available adequate funds and instructional time for teachers to facilitate the smooth practice of authentic assessment in schools.

Since the advent of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), teaching and learning have somewhat taken a paradigm shift. It is, thus, imperative for teachers in all disciplines to appreciate the essence of integrating ICTs in teaching and learning. In this regard, this study sought to explore Basic School Ghanaian Language teachers’ perceptions of ICT integration in Ghanaian language teaching. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Stratified random sampling was used to obtain data from 205 teachers in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo region of Ghana. Analysis of data collected through a self-developed questionnaire reveals that Ghanaian language teachers exhibit a positive perception of ICT integration in education. However, in practice, they tend to integrate ICT in their instruction on occasional basis. Also, it was revealed that a lack of financial support for ICT resources and lack of in-service training on ICT use were factors that militated against ICT integration in Ghanaian language teaching. Finally, the study revealed a statistically significant difference between degree holders and diploma holders’ perception of ICT integration in teaching and learning Ghanaian language.

Background: The hawking of wares by children has been a serious issue confronting the Nigerian society. Children hawk in some of the most horrible conditions conceivable, where they face a serious risk of injury, chronic illness, kidnapping, rape or death. Objective: The focus of this study was to assess the perceived effects of street hawking on the well-being of children in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. Methods: The population of this study consists of parents of the street hawkers in Anyigba while cross-sectional survey design was used through the purposive sampling technique to choose the sample size of one hundred and sixty-two (162) respondents. The validated structured questionnaire and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) served as the instruments for the data collection respectively. The hypotheses were tested using Chi-Square at a predetermined 0.05 level of significance. The quantitative data were analysed with the aid of the SPSS (version 20). Results: The results indicated among others that street hawking had significant social implications and physical consequences on children's moral behaviour as well as health status in the study area. Conclusion: The study, therefore, concluded that the government of Kogi State should carry out an enlightenment campaign through the media and religious institutions on the negative consequences of street hawking are recommended as panacea. Also, the child right act instrument and its implementation should be strengthened in order to curb street hawking in the study area.

<p class="AbstractText">This study is aimed at exploring the voices of English teachers and students of a state senior high school towards the National Exam policy and its implementation in Indonesia. Several theories of psychology and language learning were applied in this study as the theoretical framework. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The participants were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data for this study were garnered through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) conducted to the selected twelfth-grade students and semi-structured interviews done to two English teachers. Both data were analyzed descriptively. Upon the analysis, two paramount themes prevailed: (1) the negative response towards the implementation and accuracy of National Exam (NE) policy in Indonesia; and (2) unintended impacts of NE policy on teaching and learning activity, students’ motivation, and English Language Learning and Curriculum. This study offers information for the government as the policymaker, school leaders, teachers, and researchers to understand how the NE is implemented at the school level.</p>

The general purpose of the research is to investigate the school head teachers’ awareness level about rules related to Punjab Education Code. The nature of the study is descriptive and a cross-sectional survey design has used for this study. The sample consists of 100 head teachers of secondary schools in the district of Sheikhupura. The sample was selected using a stratified random sampling technique. To measure the awareness level about the Punjab Education Code a questionnaire is used to collect the mandatory information. The questionnaire is comprised of the items related to head teachers’ awareness level of rules given in the Punjab education code. The data produced by the instrument is tabulated and analyzed through the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS). According to the research questions, descriptive statistical techniques are applied. The results of this study are showed that most of the head teachers are not having complete awareness of the rules given in the Punjab Education Code.

The main objectives of this study were to identify the teachers’ perceptions and challenges of using ICT tools in the mathematics classroom at the secondary level in Kathmandu. The major tool of the study was a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 19 items. The quantitative descriptive survey design was used in this study. The researcher selected 158 teachers by using simple random method from 261 government teachers who teach compulsory mathematics at grade X of Kathmandu district in Nepal. The standardized questionnaire was administered to the sample teachers. The SPSS-25 version database was used to analyze and interpret the collected data. Teachers’ perception of using ICTs in the mathematics classroom was positive with insignificant difference in terms of gender. There were some challenges: lack of knowledge, confidence, enough experience, training, interest and access to ICT tools, lack of technical support, lack of genuine ICT Software and unstable and unreliable internet connection at the schools. Due to these challenges, teachers did not use ICT in the classroom. Therefore, teachers should learn more to improve their knowledge and skills in ICT. The government should focus on management strategies and policies to reduce the challenges faced by teachers in mathematics classrooms. By these policies, they can use the ICT tools in the classroom.

This paper evaluated the influence of PDP on Basic School Teachers’ Classroom Practices in North-Central, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. In selecting samples for this study, 746 basic school teachers were purposively selected from 84 sampled Basic Schools across three sampled states using stratified sampling technique out of the six states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The Questionnaire “Influence of Professional Development Programmes ”(IPDP) with reliability index of 0.74 was used. One - Way Analysis of Variance was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed no significance influence of teachers’ participation in PDPs on psychomotor and affective classroom practices based on experience (F (2,724) = .018, p = 982); and F(2,724) =.628, p = .534) were observed .Consequently, teachers’ participation in PDPs had no significant influence in psychomotor and affective classroom practices based on years of experience. There is need to make the programme more effective in term of organization and implementation as antidotes to the hindrances confronting the PDPs in North-Central, Nigeria.

The focus of this study was to determine the motivational strategies provided for facilitators in adult literacy centres in Enugu-North Senatorial zone, Enugu State, Nigeria. Five research questions guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised all the facilitators in adult literacy centres in Enugu-North senatorial zone of Enugu-State. The sample of the study was 160 facilitators selected through simple random sampling technique. Questionnaire which was duly validated by two experts in Adult Education and one expert in Measurement and Evaluation was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient and 0.81 was obtained and taken as reliable. Data collected were analyzed with Mean. The findings of the study include that the facilitators were not provided with conducive physical learning environment, given appropriate reward systems, in service training programmes, adequate teaching resources and not fully involved in school decision making process. One of the recommendations is that the government should make adequate provision for conducive physical learning environment in the literacy centres.

Darussalam Sub-district is one of the largest sub-districts consisting 29 villages in Aceh Besar Regency. This sub-district serves its function for settlements, offices, trading, and education. As there are many people reside in the area, the trip-generation and traffic rate to the activities centers also increase and it requires adequate road capacity. Therefore, a trip-generation model is to estimate the number of people who travel needed in Darussalam area. This study aims to define the trip-generation pattern from and to home based on the level of education and type of occupation concerning the mandatory activities. Moreover, it aims to determine the vehicles proportion used by the people in the mandatory activities. The sampling technique used in this research is proportionate stratified random sampling. The result of this study shows that factors that influencing trip-generation of people with the education level under High School at the mandatory time are actually the age. While for people with the education background above the high school level, their trip-generation depends on the family structure, the number of family members in the family working, the number of motorcycles in the family, and the number of the family owning the driving license. Moreover, the factors influencing the trip-generation of people who do not work for government at the mandatory activities are age, the number of family members who work, and the number of family members who are still students. At the other hand, the factors influencing the trip-generation of people who work for the government at their mandatory activities are the number of motorcycles in the family, the number of cars in the family, and the number of family members owning driver license. The dominant modes of transport used by the residents of Darussalam Sub-district at all education and working travels for mandatory activities are motorcycles which are 218 modes (72.6%) and cars which are 82 modes (217.33%).

Researcher’s designed questionnaire with psychometric properties of content validity of 0.61 and a reliability index of 0.87 was used to elicit the needed data from the respondents. A multistage sampling technique was used to sample 384 respondents. The research questions and hypotheses were analyzed using mean score and t-test. The finding revealed that all the community members perceive educating them as a welcome development that would help in breeding youth that is needed in an electoral process. The aim of this study is to investigate the challenges facing the planning of mathematics programme in Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research survey design. The population of the study comprised ninety (90) respondents. Stratified and systematic sampling technique was used to select the sample population. The study employed the used of questionnaire as instrument for data collection. Two lecturers from Educational Administration and planning from University of Abuja was consulted to validate the questionnaire. Three research questions and two hypotheses were developed for the study. Test-retest reliability was employed for the study. Percentage and Chi-square test was used to test the hypotheses and data collected from the study. The result revealed that there are challenges facing the planning of mathematics programme of senior secondary education and the challenges includes; inadequate data/information to plan, inadequate funding of planning of mathematics programme, poor capacity development of few mathematics planners, inadequate professional mathematics planners ,political instability, corruption and lack of political will to support planning of mathematics education. The study concluded that the implication of the challenges on the implementation mathematics education is poor implementation of the mathematics programme in the senior secondary schools. The study recommends that the government should increase the funding of educational planning in the country especially mathematics education.
